Bihar govt okays Rs 219 cr for salaries to Sanskrit school teachers
Patna, May 27 (UNI) The Bihar government has sanctioned Rs 219 crore for payment due to non-government Sanskrit school teachers and non-teaching staff, said Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Tuesday.
Chaudhary said the state government sanctioned Rs 219 crore for payment of salaries to teachers and non-teaching staff of non-government schools. Out of sanctioned Rs 219 crore, a sum of Rs 72.49 crore had been released with immediate effect, he added.
"The authorities have been directed to ensure payment of salaries directly to bank accounts of teachers and non-teaching staff working against sanctioned posts in non-government schools", Chaudhary said, adding that the funds were sanctioned for the financial 2025-26.
Directives have been issued to all officials to maintain transparency in the utilisation of funds released for payment of salaries, he stated.

IAEA convenes emergency meeting following US attacks on three Nuclear sites in Iran
New Delhi, June 22 (UNI) The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has convened an emergency meeting on Monday in the light of the urgent situation in Iran and has confirmed that ''no increase'' in off-site radiation levels had been reported following US attacks on three nuclear sites. ''In the light of the urgent situation in Iran, I am convening an emergency meeting of the oard of Governors for tomorrow,'' IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi said on X. ''Following attacks on three nuclear sites in Iran - including Fordow - the IAEA can confirm that no increase in off-site radiation levels has been reported as of this time,'' the IAEA said. However, IAEA would provide further assessments on situation in Iran as more information becomes available, it said. The IAEA said a large nuclear complex in Esfahan has been targeted for a second time during Israel's attacks on Iran over the past nine days, with several more buildings struck. Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that his country had carried out ''precision strikes'' on three nuclear facilities - Fordow, Esfahan and Natanz. "Our objective was destruction of Iran's nuclear enrichment capacity and put a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world's number one State sponsor of terror. I can report to the world that the strikes were spectacular, military success. The nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated," said Trump. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said "With the awesome and righteous might of the United States, in tonight's actions against Iran's nuclear facilities America has been unsurpassed. It has done what no other country on earth could do. History will record that President Trump acted to deny the world's most dangerous regime the world's most dangerous weapon. President Trump and I offered peace through strength. First comes strength and then comes peace,' Netanyahu said. The IAEA DG had said in a report to the UN Security Council on Saturday that attacks on nuclear sites in Iran had caused a sharp degradation in nuclear safety and security in that country. However, although they had not so far led to a radiological release affecting the public, there is a danger this could occur. The US attacked three nuclear sites in Iran -- Fordow, Esfahan and Natanz. The Natanz enrichment site contains two facilities. The first is the main Fuel Enrichment Plant. Initial attacks on June 13 targeted and destroyed electricity infrastructure at the facility, including an electrical sub-station, the main electric power supply building, and emergency power supply and back-up generators. On the same day, the main cascade hall appears to have been attacked using ground-penetrating munitions. The second facility at Natanz is the Pilot Fuel Enrichment Plant. It consists of aboveground and underground cascade halls. On June 13 the above-ground part was functionally destroyed and the strikes on the underground cascade halls were seriously damaging. The level of radioactivity outside the Natanz site has remained unchanged and at normal levels, indicating no external radiological impact on the population or the environment. However, within the Natanz facility there is both radiological and chemical contamination. It is possible that Uranium isotopes contained in Uranium Hexafluoride, Uranyl Fluoride and Hydrogen Fluoride are dispersed inside the facility. The radiation, primarily consisting of alpha particles, poses a significant danger if inhaled or ingested. This risk can be effectively managed with appropriate protective measures, such as using respiratory devices. The main concern inside the facility is chemical toxicity. Fordow is Iran's main enrichment location for enriching uranium to 60 percent. The Agency is not aware of any damage at Fordow at this time. At the Esfahan nuclear site, four buildings were damaged in last Friday's attack: the central chemical laboratory, a uranium conversion plant, the Tehran reactor-fuel manufacturing plant, and the enriched uranium metal processing facility, which was under construction.

Op Sindhu: Another special flight brings back Indians from Iran; so far 1,428 evacuated
New Delhi, June 22 (UNI) As part of Operation Sindhu, another special flight arrived from Iran today, bringing 311 Indian nationals stranded in that country, amid the fighting with Israel. Another flight is expected to arrive later tonight. With the current flight, so far 1,428 Indian nationals have been evacuated. The MEA spokesperson said in a post on X: 'Operation Sindhu continues. '311 Indian nationals arrived in New Delhi on a special flight from Mashhad at 1630 hrs on 22nd June. '1428 Indian nationals have now been evacuated from Iran.' On Saturday night, a flight had arrived bringing 290 Indian nationals back from Mashhad in Iran. One flight is expected to arrive at 11.30 tonight, bringing back more Indian nationals. India launched Operation Sindhu to evacuate its nationals from Iran and Israel, amid the raging fighting between the two nations. UNI RN

Maoists will not get respite even during monsoon: Home Minister Amit Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday reiterated the government's resolve to eradicate Maoism by March 31 next year and announced that the rebels will not get a breather even during monsoon. Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of National Forensic Science University (NFSU) and Central Forensic Science Laboratory's Raipur campus, HM Shah said, 'Unlike pervious years, when the anti-Maoist operations used to get slowed down during monsoon, I want to assure the people that we will not let the rebels sleep even during rains.' The Home Minister also hailed Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and his deputy Vijay Sharma for sharpening the operations against Maoism in the state. 'They have encouraged police forces, and I congratulate the two on behalf of the Central government,' he said. HM Shah also appealed to the Maoists to surrender and join the mainstream by availing the state government's rehabilitation package. 'I assure all those rebels who have surrendered that the Centre and State government will fulfil their commitment to them,' he said. Earlier, he called upon Chhattisgarh youth to become adventurous in setting up enterprises and start-ups for bringing about a new wave of investment in the state. He highlighted the launch of 'Mind-to-Market' i-Hub incubation set-up in the state, claiming that it would hold the hands of startup launchers and nurture youth to become MSME owners. Crediting the creation of Chhattisgarh to former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, HM Shah praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for shaping the modern-day state. Addressing the inauguration event, the Home Minister said that Sunday marked a significant day as three key projects impacting the criminal justice system of the state were being launched. 'The foundation stone of NFSU and CFSL is being laid, along with the launch of the transit campus of the University in which 180 students will start their education in courses like and in cyber and forensic science, among others,' he said. 'I want the youth to trust PM Modi and understand that their degree from NFSU will be a guarantee for their job,' he said. The NFSU campus is proposed to be built at a cost of Rs 145 crore by the Centre, while the CFSL will be built at a cost of Rs 123 crore. HM Shah said PM Modi's vision for Viksit Bharat 2047 cannot be achieved without timely delivery of justice and the three new criminal laws -- Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, effective July 1, 2024 -- are a step in that direction. The setting up of a forensic university and lab is a step in the direction of timely justice and establishing an evidence-based criminal justice system in which verdict is delivered within three years, he said.
