‘My£9 handheld fan is a staple in my handbag during the heatwave and on holiday'
If you're struggling to keep cool during the heatwave then these easy to use handheld fans are the perfect accessory to keep in your bag – they're even ideal for travelling with
The sunny weather is all well and good, but when you feel like you can't escape the heat it can end up spoiling your day. Whether you're preparing for a holiday abroad or just trying to endure the UK's current heatwave, there's one thing that I make sure I always have in my handbag in the summer; the Warmco Mini Portable Handheld Fan.
Priced at £17.99 for a pack of two – which equates to less than £9 per fan – these handy compact fans have become a must-have in my bag, and have served me well everywhere from the UK to Dubai and Arizona. They might be small, but they're powerful enough to keep me cool even in temperatures as high as 38 degrees, and are so easy to use.
The Warmco Mini Portable Handheld Fan duo comes in both pink and navy, and are the perfect size to fit in the palm of your hand or even into a clutch bag with ease. As well as being handheld, each fan comes with a stand that lets you prop it up on your desk or bedside table so you can keep cool whilst working or trying to sleep.
There's no need for batteries, as they charge up via USB, so you never need to worry about them cutting out whilst out and about. The battery life of them allows for between three and eight hours of continuous use depending on which speed setting you choose.
I was worried they'd be super loud and obnoxious to use, but they're incredibly quiet even when at full speed, so you can use them on planes and trains or in public without feeling self conscious. Although the Warmco Mini Portable Handheld Fan is perfect for keeping cool during the summer heat, I also found a great use for it year round; drying your makeup setting spray.
Once you've spritzed it on, simply turn the fan on and use it to dry down the setting spray without frantically fanning your hands up and down. It's also handy for helping things like lash glue or fake tan to dry down more quickly.
If you prefer a bladeless model, this Wendry Portable Handheld Cooling Bladeless Fan is £12.49 with three speed settings and a stand to turn it into a desk fan. For something even more tiny, Dunelm's Status Dual Position Handheld Folding Fan measures just three inches and folds up into two standing positions, costing just £3.
However I'm not the only one who loves the Warmco Mini Portable Handheld Fan. Other Amazon reviews say: 'Great little fans, not too big, quiet and charge relatively quickly and seem to be lasting well. Stand is a handy plus and seem to be decent quality.'
Another agreed: 'Handy portable and desk fan with different speed settings. Only just had them so cannot yet verify about recharging them. Good value for money and seem quite sturdy, they are also reasonably quiet too so handy for travelling.'
Some found some issues, writing: 'These fans are a great size and provide a nice bit of cool air on a hot day. But the power button turns on too easily. Every time I opened my backpack, the fan was on, cooling the inside of my bag. The button needs to be reconfigured so it can't do that.'
However other reviewers loved them, saying: 'Shocked at how good these two are. Very powerful! Great for the price. Would recommend! Bought for holidays. The stand is great to put it on table at the restaurant.'

EXCLUSIVE Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez have rented out ENTIRE Italian island for six days for their glamorous wedding
It's the luxurious, extravagant event that everyone's been waiting years for - and one that some people still can't believe is happening - the union of Amazon tycoon Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. After a two-year-long engagement, the day is almost upon us, as the power couple are set to finally get married next week in Venice, Italy, in a summer extravaganza. The guest list is thought to have less than 200 people, with suspected guests including A-listers like Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom and even members of the Trump family. The Amazon boss has booked the Scuola Grande della Misericordia, one of the largest and grandest buildings in the historical center of Venice, as part of the multi-day-long extravaganza of celebrations. Up until now, little has been known about what may be dubbed as the wedding of the year - but a source in Italy has exclusively revealed to the Daily Mail all of the intimate details that you need to know. According to the insider, Bezos' $500 million superyacht, Koru, will be moored off the coast of San Georgio Maggiore island, which is home to the famous Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore, a 16th century Benedictine church. They shared that the island is 'off-limits to visitors' from June 24 to June 29, with the mayor believing that the wedding will take place on the yacht - although The Misericodria, an iconic event space in Venice, has been boked out from June 26 to June 28. It's unclear if the space is related to their wedding, but the insider added that a private tender service is said to be taking guests from the island to the yacht. In addition to the private tenders, the source revealed that around 60 of Venice's water taxis are reserved for the week, with some of the 400 gondolas on the island out of commission as well. The insider also confirmed that Venice is expecting '200 guests who will stay at local hotels,' although it's unclear which ones. Some of the most expensive and high-end hotels in the Italian city include The Aman, where you can book a room for over $2,700 per night, and Hotel Cipriani, which goes for over $2,000 per night. Once their guests arrive, they will be treated to a few luxurious surprises, of course. The source confirmed to the Daily Mail that local bakery Rosa Salva Venetia will be providing pastries for the extravagant weekend. The delicious menu items at the bakery include tiramisu, flaky, cream-filled pastries, and fritelli, a traditional Italian fried treat. However, Rosa Salva Venetia will not be providing the wedding cake for the loved-up couple. The insider also confirmed that Venice is expecting '200 guests who will stay at local hotels,' although it's unclear which ones Our source claimed that a celebrity wedding planner, who is not working this event, has heard that guests will receive 'opulent' gifts just for attending the nuptials. And it looks like all of this opulence is thanks to Sanchez herself, as her hubby-to-be revealed in a 2023 Vogue interview that he wouldn't dare get involved with wedding planning. 'Oh, God, no. Do I look that dumb?' Bezos told the outlet when he was asked if he had a big part in the preparations. During the interview, the future Mrs. Bezos listed Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, and Valentino as some of her favorite designers, but didn't share anything about which one will make her gown - or gowns, for that matter. Separate sources recently told the Daily Mail that the festivities are expected to cost anywhere from $15 to $20 million. Many things went into the estimate of the total cost, including transportation fees, her wedding dress and catering. While their wedding is rapidly approaching, a psychic who has accurately predicted a number of monumental world events told the Daily Mail earlier this week that believes the pair will be divorced by 2029. Athos Salomé, 38, from Brazil, is often referred to as the 'Living Nostradamus' due to his numerous accurate predictions - including his forecasting of the coronavirus pandemic, Queen Elizabeth II's death and the Microsoft global outage. The insider shared that the island is 'off-limits to visitors' from June 24 to June 29, with the mayor believing that the wedding will take place on Jeff's yacht (stock image) He said that their wedding will go forward as planned, he believes their 'motivations' are 'far from romantic love.' 'The marriage is more of a contract for image, power and legacy perpetuation than a celebration of affection,' Salomé told the Daily Mail. 'Lauren embodies the archetype of the idealized woman in Bezos' new public phase. The union will last for a while, but it is not eternal,' he continued. The clairvoyant revealed that he's 'certain' their marriage has an 'end' - and claimed that it will be between 2028 and 2029, if not sooner. 'It will be a clean divorce, without scandal. A meticulously planned separation, protected by confidentiality clauses and image strategies,' he explained.

All our favourite camping buys tried and tested for festivals and family holidays – starting from just 15p
Plus, one of the UK's best campsites has safari lodges, pet pigs and secret waterfalls CAMP OUT All our favourite camping buys tried and tested for festivals and family holidays – starting from just 15p Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) FESTIVAL and camping season is here and with that, so is the frantic rush to find items that make it that little bit easier. Whether crawling around in a cramped festival tent or away with the family in a holiday park, as much as we may love camping there are some things about it that can be a nightmare. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 15 Camping and festival season have returned Credit: AP Here are The Sun's travel team's top recs for camping this summer. Collapsible items With a limited amount of storage space in caravans and tents, making sure your kitchen equipment is as space-saving as possible is an essential. Look for collapsible items to stack and save space. This Outwell kettle, £39.99, is also collapsible to just 4.5cm despite holding 1.5litres when expanded. Ikea does a great collapsible washing up bowl for just £5. The Pepprig bowl collapses flat and features a hole to hang from pegs. And when it comes to cooking up a storm, a stacking nest of pans is essential. Lisa Minot, Head of Travel Camping pans The BeGrit Camping Pans is a four-piece stackable stainless steel set that includes a frying pan, two pots, plate and spoon in a storage bag. From £17.99 on Amazon or for a more sophisticated set that covers all bases for a family, Decathlon sell the Quechua Stainless Steel Non-Stick Camping Cookset for £49.99. UK's Premier Scottish Caravan Site: Camping & Glamping Gold Standard With a whopping 25 items suitable for a family of four you get a big pot and frying pan and within is stored a sieve drainer, plates, cups and cutlery. Lisa Minot, Head of Travel 15p Plates You don't want to waste weight - or risk breakages - by using standard crockery in a caravan. Invest in some melamine plates, cups and bowls but for me, I want to make things easy when it comes to washing up. A nice big pack of disposable, biodegradable and compostable plates costs around £7 for 50 from Amazon and are perfect for most meals and avoid the need to use lots of water or make several trips to the block to wash up. What I personally love is that there's no risk of rolling off the airbed as you're fully zipped in. It's got a built-in pillow and the sleeping bag element/cover can be removed and chucked in the washing machine. It's a foldable mirror made up of four glass squares that unravel into a full-length travel mirror. Costing £45, it comes with a tie at the top so that it can be looped around a tent pole. The best feature is how compact it is, folding into a flat square – just be wary as a lot of festivals don't allow glass. Unlike some traditional camping chairs, you'll have to construct it, a bit like a tent, but that takes about 30 seconds. The steel frame of the chair relies on a tent-pole like structure which means it's easily collapsible and can be shoved in a teeny bag along with the canvas-material chair. Sophie Swietochowski, Assistant Travel Editor 15 This camping chair takes less than a minute to construct Credit: Outdoor World Vango Square Water Carrier Water carriers are so cheap but so useful, especially at a festival where the toilet facilities may not be anything more than a hole in the ground. This one for £7.99, folds into practically nothing and comes with a nifty tap feature that will give you running water at the twist of a nozzle. Fill it up every day from the campsites water station and use it to wash your hands, brush your teeth, drink from etc. Sophie Swietochowski, Assistant Travel Editor 15 A water carrier is super useful for when the toilets and taps are far from your tent Credit: Outdoor World Loop earplugs As much as I enjoy a festival or two, I do need my beauty sleep otherwise I can be pretty unpleasant to be around. So when it comes to going to bed, I won't go without my Loop earplugs. These handy little gadgets block out almost everything, muffling all background noise and thumping bass. They might be the most I've ever spent on earplugs, but they're well worth it. Loop earplugs cost from £19.95. So what I bring is FreshWipes, the OceanFresh scent does the trick and is biodegradable too. FreshWipes cost £5.99 per pack. Alice Penwill, Travel Reporter 15 FreshWipes keep you fresh and are biodegradable too Credit: Fresh Wipes Face and body cooling spray With the hot and sticky weather we have been experiencing lately, being able to cool down is not the easiest unless you drench yourself in water. Whilst chugging water can help to keep you hydrated, sometime it just feels like your skin is about to burn off. This is where a face and body cooling spray comes in. For years I have sworn by Superdrug's own brand 'Face & Body Cooling Spray 200ml' costing just £5. And this bottle will last you the whole summer. I use it over makeup on my face for a cooldown spritz and down my arms too - it really helps to take the edge off of the heat. I also recently discovered their Vitamin E Mist, which comes in a small 50ml bottle for £2.50. If struggling on space, definitely grab one of these and it is even in Superdrug's '3 for 2' offer, so you can pick up some other travel minis too. But if you are like me, the price of sun cream irks you each year the season gets warmer and sunnier. And if you are anything like me, the bog standard sunscreen is no good. With oily skin, a hate for tackiness and a dislike for the smell, I make sure the sunscreen I get suits me. And to cut costs, I will often purchase the biggest bottle available. However, with this, it is hard to carry around the sun cream. This is where the Solar Buddies Applicator comes in. The small and compact applicator can be filled with any sunscreen of your choosing and costs just £6.38 from Boots. Despite the product specifically being designed for use by children, it is suitable for anyone who wants to carry a smaller bottle of sunscreen around with them without the risk of the bottle lid pinging off in your bag. It is also 100ml so suitable for hand luggage! As an 'everywhere spray', Luna Daily is perfect for festival camping when you feeling grabby after using a questionably-clean portaloo or after crawling around in and out of your tent. The spray-to-wipe product can be used anywhere - including 'down there' - helping you to feel a bit cleaner whilst in a not-so-clean environment. It is completely fragrance free and includes thermal water, prebiotic lactic acid and inulin and Vitamins C, E and F to protect your skin - essentially no nasties. One bottle is the equivalent of 100 wipes and it can be kept in the fridge for added cooling effects. Just a basic SPF 30 lip balm with moisturising coconut in helped against the harsh elements of sun and wind whilst adventuring. The carabineer attached just adds convenience as you can attach it yourself as I did, the zip or side of a bag or even keys or a water bottle. They can be picked up at most outdoors shops like Trespass or Go Outdoors for a couple of quid. Cyann Fielding, Travel Reporter 15 The carabineer attached to this lip balm adds convenience Credit: Trespass Ikea lamp There are so many different camping lamps out there - from wind-up ones to battery operated. And they also can widely range in price. Ikea has just released a lamp which I cannot wait to get my hands on. The small table lamp which is battery-operated and donut-shaped looks stylish whilst also being practical. It has a rope loop on it to hand in your tent, but also due to its flat bottom it can sit on a table easily - meaning you can move it between your campsite dinner setup to the roof of your tent, giving you light wherever you go. If wanting something smaller, the classic lightbulb shaped lamps on caribineers are also great and can be picked up for under a fiver. Cyann Fielding, Travel Reporter 15 This small table lamp which is battery-operated and donut-shaped looks stylish whilst also being practical Credit: IKEA Soft running bottles Whilst not the cheapest at £9.99 each from Decathlon, soft running bottles are great space savers. They can be rolled up to the size of a fist and are easy to shove in the remaining room in a pack camping back. For festivals, they are even better - as often to get into the main arena, your water bottle needs to be empty - and these can just fit in your pocket to be filled once in the area. Even when full, they can still slide into a pocket, which means you won't be carrying around a clunky bottle. Cyann Fielding, Travel Reporter 15 Soft bottles can be can be rolled up to the size of a fist Credit: Decathlon These are the UK's best campsites with flawless 10/10 reviews, honesty shops & even resident deer. Best sunscreen deals on our tried and tested favourites
Sunscreen is essential, but it can be surprisingly expensive. If you're stocking up on sunscreen for a family holiday, you'll know that packing enough SPF to keep everyone safe can soon add up. The good news is that sunscreen is often available on sale. Whether you need a body sunscreen to pack in your suitcase this summer or a reliable SPF moisturiser to wear all year round, there are plenty of deals to be found on some of our favourite tried and tested formulas. We've rooted through the best deals at Boots, Amazon, Lookfantastic and more to bring you the best offers. This will ensure that you never have to pay full price for your sun protection. If you're heading off on holiday soon, don't wait until you're at the airport to buy your sunscreen. Prices are often higher airside, so if you're checking in a suitcase, stock up before you travel. You might be tempted to buy travel-sized sunscreens if you're only travelling with hand luggage. However, you'll likely end up paying more per 100ml, and if you use the recommended amount (six to eight teaspoons to cover your whole body), you may need to top up while on holiday. Our top tip is to use the Boots airside click and collect service. You'll have to pay a £4.50 fee and select a delivery date at least three days before you fly, but this gives you the chance to make full use of Boots' wide range of online sunscreen offers. Keep scrolling for the best deals on body and face sunscreens. We'll be keeping this page updated throughout the summer, so you can bookmark it and return it when you need to stock up on SPF. If you're looking for a sunscreen to take on your family holiday, you can't go wrong with our best sunscreen for kids from La Roche Posay's trusty anthelios range. Our tester found that the spray 'wasn't greasy and sank in very quickly with no ghostly white faces'. It also suited her kids' sensitive skin, causing no irritation. For a limited time, you can get 35 per cent off the kids' sunscreen at Amazon, and you won't find it cheaper elsewhere. The 200ml bottle lasted our tester a month when using it with her three children and with multiple reapplications, so it's the perfect size to pack in your suitcase. For an extra boost of hydration, we're big fans of this sunscreen lotion from Hawaiian Tropic. Thanks to the addition of cocoa and shea butter, our tester found that 'it sinks in quickly and leaves the skin feeling supple and nourished'. We named it our best budget body sunscreen, and now at Amazon, you can get it at more than half off. If you want to stock up on more Hawaiian Tropic SPF products, you can also find the range reduced by up to half price at Boots. Right now at Boots, you can save 20 per cent on selected Ultrasun sunscreens, including our best body sunscreen, the Ultrasun extreme SPF50. Our tester praised the 'lightweight' cream for absorbing quickly into the skin, which made it easy to reapply throughout the day. Boots isn't the only retailer to reduce the price of the sunscreen. You can also snap up the deal at Sephora and Amazon. This 'invisible' sunscreen spray makes reapplication a breeze, thanks to its non-sticky formula and easy-to-use nozzle. Our tester loved its classic coconut scent, too. Now at Boots, you can get it for 20 per cent off. If you miss out on this offer, head to Amazon, where you can find it for the same price. We're big fans of Sol de Janeiro's SPF range at Indybest, so we're pleased to see that its radiance body spray has 35 per cent off at Cult Beauty. The SPF spray has Sol de Janeiro's signature coconut scent and comes out as a mist, which our beauty writer, Lucy, said 'keeps the SPF targeted at your body'. She added, 'It felt light yet moisturising and left a flattering sheen.' Our best sunscreen for acne-prone skin now has more than a third off at Amazon, but as one of the online retailer's limited-time offers, the deal isn't set to be around for long. The lightweight formula was 'neither too oily nor too matte' for our tester, and she found it blended easily into her skin. The 50ml bottle is also the perfect size to fit in your hand luggage this summer. Another fantastic sunscreen for acne-prone skin is Heliocare's oil-free gel SPF, which we named our best face sunscreen. After adding it to her daily routine, our tester found that it survived 'several sweaty workouts' and layered beautifully under make-up. Right now, you can save 25 per cent on the brand at Boots and Lookfantastic, making it the perfect time to stock up. We've also spotted a 30 per cent discount on one of our favourite SPF moisturisers from Fenty. Our beauty writer, Lucy, described the SPF30 as 'creamy, lightweight and thirst-quenching for dehydrated skin' and praised its 'soothing and healing' ingredients. The savings don't stop there either. Once you've got to the end of the sunscreen, you can buy a refill, which is around £5 cheaper than buying it brand new. We've also spotted a deal on the TikTok-viral sun rice SPF50 from Beauty of Joseon, with Lookfantastic offering 20 per cent off. I've used this SPF for a few months now and can attest to its hydrating and nourishing claims. I've found that it doesn't disrupt make-up or leave a white cast on my warm skin tone. Lucy recommends this Garnier SPF50 fluid for those who don't like the feeling of a heavy sunscreen against their skin. She found that 'it doesn't pill' and that the ingredients 'work to absorb excess oil on your skin throughout the day'. Boots currently has a third off selected Garnier products, but we've got a handy tip to help you slash the price even further. If you use the discount code SUN20, you'll get an additional 20 per cent off, bringing it down to £6.93. We're big fans of CeraVe, including its SPF50 facial moisturising lotion. While lots of SPF moisturisers focus on oil-control, Lucy wrote that 'it was refreshing to see ceramides included' for dry skin types. Amazon has slashed the price of the SPF lotion by almost 45 per cent, bringing it to less than £9. You won't find it this cheap anywhere else at the moment, but as it's a limited-time offer, you don't have long to snap it up.
