flydubai Enhances Passenger Experience with Boeing's Spacious Overhead Bins Upgrade

Hi Dubai11-04-2025

Dubai-based airline flydubai has announced a strategic agreement with Boeing to retrofit 21 of its 737 MAX aircraft with Boeing's advanced Space Bins, unveiled during the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX).
The upgrade marks a significant enhancement in onboard storage, as each Space Bin is designed to hold up to six standard-sized carry-on bags—up from four bags in traditional bins. The reconfiguration is achieved by positioning bags on their edge, maximizing available cabin space without altering the aircraft layout. 'Since commencing operations in 2009, we have remained dedicated to investing in product innovation and elevating our passengers' inflight experience,'
said Daniel Kerrison, Senior Vice President of Inflight Operations at flydubai. 'Installing Boeing's larger Space Bins brings added convenience and increased storage space, offering a comfort level akin to wide-body aircraft.'
Doug Backhus, Vice President of Cabin, Modifications and Maintenance at Boeing, added, 'Passengers are making the connection between bin capacity and the extra room they need and expect for their carry-on bags. We are proud to partner with flydubai to bring Space Bins capability to their existing 737 MAX fleet.'
flydubai currently operates a modern fleet of 88 Boeing 737 aircraft, including 59 737 MAX models. The retrofit supports the airline's ongoing commitment to passenger comfort and operational efficiency as it continues to expand its footprint.
With a growing network of over 130 destinations across 55 countries—including routes throughout Africa, Central Asia, the Middle East, South Asia, and Europe—flydubai's latest move reinforces its focus on enhancing the overall travel experience while maintaining competitive edge in a rapidly evolving aviation landscape.

Dubai Municipality celebrates World Hydrography Day and highlights its leading efforts to enhance maritime safety

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: In celebration of World Hydrography Day, Dubai Municipality organized an event titled 'Enhancing Safety, Efficiency, and Sustainability in Maritime Activities', aimed at highlighting the importance of hydrographic surveying in supporting infrastructure. It also showcased the Municipality's pioneering efforts in producing nautical charts and promoting sustainable use of marine resources in line with sustainable development goals. Dubai Municipality is a member of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and the event underscored its efforts in developing the hydrographic survey system, and its role in enhancing navigational safety and ensuring the sustainable use of marine environments. These efforts align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Municipality's objectives of leveraging innovation to help create the best urban planning systems, while pursuing leadership and global competitiveness in hydrographic services. The Municipality also showcased its efforts in providing detailed data that supports marine survey services, including the production and updating of nautical charts in Dubai, enhancing maritime navigation safety, and protecting the environment. The event featured the latest programs, technologies, and best practices used in implementing marine projects, as well as supporting urban development plans for coastal areas and utilizing marine resources. Furthermore, Dubai Municipality is actively working to align with the strategic plan of the International Hydrographic Organization by participating in international activities and initiatives focused on knowledge-sharing and the sustainable use of seas and oceans, and by increasing the use of hydrographic data for the benefit of society. Dubai Municipality obtained membership in the International Hydrographic Organization in February 2023, becoming the first government entity in the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East to receive this accreditation. This milestone has strengthened its position as a globally recognized hydrographic survey institution, particularly as the first government department in the country to offer world-class nautical charting services aimed at enhancing maritime safety in Dubai's coastal waters.
