Doctor Who star Pik-Sen Lim dead aged 80 as tributes paid to icon
Doctor Who actress Pik-Sen Lim has passed away aged 80.
Pik-Sen rose to fame as Chung Su-Lee in 1970s comedy Mind Your Language but was best known for her appearance in Doctor Who serial The Mind of Evil, The Mirror reports.
Sharing his heartbreak over her death, actor Daniel York Loh paid tribute on Instagram and wrote: "An iconic figure in so many ways, I'd seen her on TV in Mind Your Language amongst other things when I was a kid.'
"She was so affectionate, so witty, so brilliantly scabrous and absolutely honest about the rubbish this industry deals actors of our heritage - unlike a fair few others who actually try and cape it.
"We'll miss you so much but thank you, Pixi, for blessing our lives with your unique presence."
Pik-Sen was born in British Malaya, now Malaysia, moving to Britain at 16 to pursue a career in acting. She had been the daughter of the palm oil millionaire Lim Cheng-Teik and was nicknamed 'Pixie' at the convent school she attended in Penang.

Her family had not been supportive of her acting dream, but in the 60s she began acquiring roles in shows such as Emergency Ward 10, in which she played a nurse. During this time, she also met her husband, scriptwriter Don Houghton, who she married in 1968.
She went on to appear in Her husband's scripted Doctor Who serial The Mind of Evil in 1971. Pik-Sen also starred in three seasons of sitcom Mind Your Language, during which she spoke in an exaggerated Chinese accent.
Pik-Sen also starred in Albion Market (1985) and Night and Day (2003), Arabian Nights (2000), The Bill (2005) and even Little Britain as a side character alongside David Walliams and Matt Lucas.

"I'm so lucky getting to watch you grow every single day by your side into the most beautiful little boy. It's so sad I don't have many photos of me and you bar selfies I've taken, but from now on I'll make sure we have many together." She concluded: "You will always be my priority. I love you baby." The Mirror has contacted a representative of Stephanie for comment. On Father's Day, Stephanie sparked alarm that her relationship with Joe was over as she issued a statement about father's day. She took to social media to pay tribute to her own father - without mentioning the father's of her children. The Hollyoaks star praised her dad for being there for her and her two sons, writing: "There aren't many men like you." Fans were quick to speculate on the post at the time, with one writing: "Where's Joe?" in the comments section. Another wrote: "I think they have split up". And another fan simply wrote: "Hope you and joe are OK." Stephanie previously had a high profile relationship with reality star Jeremy McConnell who she met via Celebrity Big Brother. She welcomed their son in January 2017, however the relationship collapsed soon after. From 2018 until 2019, Stephanie had a relationship with her Hollyoaks colleague Owen Warner.

JoJo Siwa will no longer be taking part in a Pride event in Chicago next weekend - with the news being announced a day after she candidly opened up about her sexuality journey JoJo Siwa has abruptly pulled out of a gay pride performance just hours after revealing she felt "pressured" to brand herself a lesbian. The 22-year-old American singer has been on a high profile romantic journey since April this year when she met Love Island star Chris Hughes in the UK Celebrity Big Brother house. Viewers watched on in surprise as the pair grew closer and closer over the course of their time in the house. Eyebrows were raised as JoJo was dating an Australian content creator called Kath Ebbs at the time. Once the show ended, Kath was almost immediately dumped by the Dance Moms star and days later it was revealed she and 32-year-old Chris had embarked on a romance. This week, JoJo, who identifies as queer, explained that she had been pressured to declare herself a lesbian. And in the wake of this declaration, it has been revealed she has dropped out at performing at an LGBTQ+ event later this month. She had been due to perform at the Back Lot Bash in Chicago as part of their Chicago Pride Sunday party on June 29. But the organization suddenly announced on Saturday morning that this would no longer be the case. The venue wrote on social media: "Due to a scheduling conflict, JoJo Siwa will no longer be performing at Chicago's Back Lot Bash" - without and further explanation. The Mirror has contacted a representative of JoJo for comment. The abrupt cancellation follows news that the star had cancelled a planned tour. She revealed via her official website earlier this month: "I've got some news that breaks my heart to share... my US tour has to be postponed. And I think I did that because of pressure." She continued: "'In a weird way, I think [the pressure] came a little bit from inside the [LGBTQ] community at times. From people I know, from partners I've had. "You just get put in this world where you feel like, because you now have said, 'Oh, I'm a lesbian', you have to be a lesbian. And the truth is, sexuality is fluid." In a recent chat with TMZ, JoJo also addressed the ongoing scrutiny that she's been subjected to as fans have dissected her love life. She told the outlet: "The thing is, love is a beautiful rainbow and I think that the LGBTQIA+ community needs to remember that love is love and think the hate from within the community is something I've learned a lot from and I think that a lot of people get to grow from and I'm on of those people. "I think that again I can give you an example of love is love, you can be happy..." "There's a new fad every other year. It just so happens that this is the fad this time around, and after I have lost weight. The thing is, it just coincided with the time when I had my daughter Lucia, and I had this baby weight and everyone was commenting on it. Had it of been a few years prior, everyone would have been saying I had a BBL, or some magical liposuction that completely transformed how I looked," she shared. She went on: "We're in the Ozempic season at the moment, and I can't help how people perceive me. I believe that Ozempic is an appetite suppressant, and those are not new. It's just essentially a new name for something that gives the same results. "This has been something that has been around for 20 or 30 years - it's just another pharmaceutical company that have been able to market it in this new way and everyone is freaking out over it. In a couple of years time it will be something else, mark my words." It is noted, however, that Ozempic is not strictly a weight loss injection as it is a medication designed to treat type 2 diabetes with weight loss an unintended side effect.
