Over 300 arms & huge cache of ammo seized in Manipur

Imphal: Manipur Police and security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from five valley districts during a series of coordinated search operations launched late Friday night.
The operation led to the recovery of a substantial number of firearms, totalling 328, including SLRs, INSAS rifles, carbines, MP5 guns, LMGs, AK-series rifles, Amogh rifles and pistols, among others.
These intelligence-based operations mark a significant achievement for Manipur Police and the security forces in their continued efforts to restore normalcy, maintain public order and ensure the safety and security of citizens and their properties.
According to the police, joint teams comprising Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and personnel from the Indian Army and Assam Rifles conducted simultaneous raids across multiple locations on the outskirts of five valley districts, acting on specific intelligence inputs.
Briefing mediapersons, ADGP of Manipur Police said the search operations were launched on Friday night in the outskirts of five valley districts by joint teams of Manipur Police, CAPF, Army and Assam Rifles.

Explosives, 151 SLR rifles, 65 Insar rifles, 73 rifles of other kinds, 5 carbine guns, 2 MP-5 guns and other warlike stores were recovered by the teams. A mortar, flare guns and an AR-15 were also seized. Along with the firearms, security forces also recovered a large quantity of assorted magazines and live ammunition of various calibres, including SLR, INSAS, AK, and .303 rounds.
Explosives, including grenades, detonators and lathodes, were also part of the seizure.
This operation marks one of the largest recoveries in recent times and provide a boost to the state's ongoing efforts to restore peace and normalcy amid persistent unrest. Senior police officials confirmed that the operations were conducted in a highly coordinated manner, with all security stakeholders working in close synergy.
Manipur Police, while reiterating their commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring the safety of all citizens, urged the public to remain vigilant and to cooperate by reporting any suspicious activities or information related to illegal arms to the nearest police station or the Central Control Room.
Officials said such intelligence-based actions will continue in a focused and sustained manner until peace is fully restored in the state.

Fake ‘sword attack' triggers panic in Mangaluru; social media user, news portal booked for spreading false information; police warn of strict action
MANGALURU: The Dakshina Kannada district police have registered multiple cases after false messages and a misleading news report about an alleged 'sword attack' were circulated on social media and a website, creating panic among the public. SP Dr Arun K stated that a fake message was shared in a WhatsApp group named Muslim Yuva Balaga by a person identified as Ziyad Ummi. The message falsely claimed that 'an attempt to assault two youths occurred in the middle of Sajipa Deraje Road, leading to public outrage at the scene.' Police said the message was intended to incite fear and disturb public peace. A case was registered at Bantwal Rural Police Station under Section 240 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). In a related incident, a Kannada news portal published a baseless report titled 'Sword attack resurfaces in Dakshina Kannada district; two innocent Muslims attacked while returning home from work in Sajipa.' The article, which was found to be false, was circulated through a Kannada website. A case was registered against the media outlet with court permission, under Section 240 of the BNS. Another case was registered in connection with an unlawful assembly of 50 to 75 people near the Deraje bus stand. The crowd, allegedly mobilised in response to the fake 'sword attack' report, obstructed traffic in the area. Police booked the individuals involved under Sections 240, 285, 189(2), 191(2), and 190 of the BNS. Police have issued a stern warning against spreading false information and disturbing public order through social media and other platforms. The fake messages reportedly circulated after Mohammad Mukbul, 34, filed a complaint. He said that on Friday night, he was riding pillion on a scooter with a relative. While travelling from Boliyar towards Melkar, the two reached near the Deraje bus stop and noticed two helmeted individuals sitting on a parked scooter facing Boliyar. One of the individuals reportedly ran towards them. Mukbul clarified that he did not see any sword or weapon. Suspecting danger, he told his relative to speed away. The incident was later misrepresented online, leading to the spread of fake news.

Rohtak shocker: Man dies by suicide after receiving obscene video of wife with lover; claims she pressured him to kill father, sell land for partner's promotion
ROHTAK: A man died by suicide after allegedly being harassed by his wife, Divya, and her alleged lover, Deepak, a police inspector said. The victim has been identified as Magan alias Ajay. A video that Magan received just before ending his life has now surfaced, showing Divya dancing while her boyfriend records the footage. During the video, the two can be seen engaging in obscene behaviour. According to Magan's family, Divya herself sent this video to her husband. The emotional trauma that followed reportedly led Magan to hang himself last week. Before dying, Magan recorded a video where he alleged that his wife Divya and her police officer boyfriend were mentally harassing him. He claimed Divya pressured him to murder his own father and sell ancestral land so that Deepak could get a promotion in his police job. In the video, Magan appealed to the police to take strict action against both of them. Magan's body was found hanging from a tree on the night of June 18 in Dobh village here. He stated, 'Divya has an affair with Deepak, a policeman posted in Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad), Maharashtra. Both of them have mentally tortured me.' He further revealed that both Divya and Deepak pressurised him to kill his father and sell ancestral property. 'They want to buy a flat in Mumbai using that money. But I can't kill my father, so I am ending my life,' Magan said. Magan also claimed that Deepak needed Rs 5 lakh for a job promotion. 'After selling wheat, I gave Rs 1.5 lakh to Divya. On June 9, 2025, I mortgaged my gold bracelet and gave her another Rs 2 lakh. The transaction records are in a file kept at home. Even after paying Rs 3.5 lakh, they were demanding another Rs 1.5 lakh from me,' he said. Magan said he discovered 1.5 years into the marriage that Divya was already married and had a son from that marriage. She did not legally divorce before marrying him. 'When I consulted a lawyer, he advised me to file a case since Hindu law doesn't allow remarriage without divorce. But I never took action and instead paid her to settle with her first husband.' In his last video, Magan addressed his rakhi sister, Savita Arya from Panipat, who works for women's rights. He said, 'Even if a woman is wrong, she gets sympathy by shedding a few tears. But even a right man ends up losing his life. Please do something for men too.' He also appealed to Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda and Meham MLA Balram Dangi. 'After my death, my son should stay with my parents. They are losing their only son. I urge the MP and MLA to visit my home and assure my parents that no one will take my son away from them.' Magan's family said the couple met through social media in 2019 and later registered their marriage. Initially, the family did not approve, but after Divya gave birth to a son, they accepted her. Magan's family stated that Divya had a job but never disclosed what it was. She often stayed away from home for days, using work as an excuse. They suspect it was during these trips that she met Deepak in Maharashtra. She left home on March 20, 2025, saying she was going for work but never returned. She remained in contact over the phone for a while and was later found to be living with Deepak in Maharashtra, from where she allegedly continued to harass Magan. ASI Sanjay from Bahu Akbarpur Police Station stated that efforts are being made to trace Divya. A team visited her parental home in Narnaund, Hisar, but family members claimed to have had no contact with her for years. Police are examining Magan's call records and bank transactions. Once evidence is consolidated, a team will be dispatched to Maharashtra to locate and apprehend Divya.
