Telangana Left parties condemn US attacks on Iran, call for statewide protests on June 24
Hyderabad, June 23 (UNI) The Left parties in Telangana have strongly condemned the recent attacks by the United States on Iran, calling them a blatant violation of international laws and an attempt to undermine Iranian sovereignty. In a meeting held here on Monday, the Telangana state Left parties announced their decision to hold protest programs in all district centres across the state on June 24. The protest call is part of a nationwide agitation initiated by the All India Left Parties, who have denounced what they describe as 'imperialist aggression' by the US. Appealing to the public, democrats, and peace-loving citizens, the Telangana Left parties urged widespread participation to make the protest programs a success and send a clear message in support of global peace. The parties stated that despite confirmations from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and even US intelligence that there is no evidence of Iran developing nuclear weapons, the United States is continuing its attacks under a false pretext. They alleged that these actions are designed to provoke conflict and destabilise West Asia, with the ultimate aim of asserting imperialist dominance in the region. Further, they warned that the escalation in tensions is endangering world peace and severely affecting nations like India, which are economically and socially linked to West Asia. Indian workers in the region and the livelihoods of common people are particularly vulnerable, they noted. The Left parties also demanded that the Indian government take a clear stand by condemning the US aggression, move away from a pro-Israel foreign policy approach, and actively work to de-escalate the conflict. They called on all those who support peace and oppose imperialism to join the movement and resist the ongoing violence in the region, a statement said. UNI VV BM
