Benidorm return in crisis as creator's secret DIVORCE from show star throws reunion into chaos

The pair had quietly been a real life couple, and had been happily married for years, choosing to keep their relationship out of the spotlight. But the couple called time on their relationship at the end of 2022 - leading to one of the messiest divorces in TV history. They were finally granted a divorce in August 2024. Derren took to Twitter and said: 'I don't really talk about my personal life here but the reason I've been a bit scarce on the socials is for the last 18 months I've been going through a pretty miserable divorce. 'So I'm obviously poor now. And you thought we couldn't have more in common then we already do?!' A source said: 'Matteo is Benidorm, he's the character that everyone wants to see. 'He's been part of the Solana since the beginning so for him not to feature in any future reboot, well it just would not be the same without him. 'Jake created one of the show's most loved characters in Matteo but with everything that's happened between him and Derren, it's not looking good.' Benidorm has had a huge resurgence after Netflix bought the episodes from ITV. Another source said: 'Conversations have been had. Benidorm Trailer ITV 'The only way Jake will return is if ITV make him a huge offer, one that he could not possibly turn down. 'But obviously Derren is making negotiations difficult. He is the writer and creator and believes that he should make all the decisions. 'The fans would want to see Matteo, which ITV get. It's all become one big headache.' A spokesperson for Jake insisted they were unaware of any planned return for Benidorm.

Award-winning ITV drama confirms next series will be the last in blow set to leave fans ‘in tears' - and filming for the final episode has already kicked off
ITV has announced that one of their hit series will be coming to an end after its third season. First airing in 2022, The Dry follows the life and family of Shiv Sheridan (Roisin Gallagher), a woman recovering from alcoholism who returns home to Dublin after 10 unsuccessful years as an artist in London. Shiv, 35, is faced with moving back in with her family, all of whom are big drinkers, and are skeptical of her decision to go 'dry'. The series is the brainchild of Irish writer Nancy Harris, who was inspired to write a series that would reconnect her with her Irish identity. She was supported in production by similarly Dublin-born director Paddy Breathnach, who has directed every single episode. The show was initially broadcast on RTÉ One, but was moved to ITV for the second season after its huge popularity. 'Relatable, dark, despicable, yet abundantly human characters. The dry has everything you want from a dramedy and it's full of Irish craic.' Wrote one reviewer on IMDB. 'Shiv and her fellow Sheridan clan are a fantastic Portrayal of ordinary Vs extraordinary and how trauma can creep up on us. This series had me roaring with laughter and crying real tears. Can't wait to see more.' But the Irish comedy-drama will come to an end after the release of the third season, Harris has confirmed, in a statement reflecting on the show. 'It has been a true joy to see audiences embrace the Sheridan family in all their dysfunctional glory' she said. 'I am so grateful to have gotten to tell this story over three seasons.' 'The third and final season aims to go deeper than ever before, really getting under the skin of Shiv and the family in a way that we hope is both surprising, funny and (painfully) honest,' she concluded. Achieving an impressive 94% Rotten Tomatoes score, The Dry has been praised for its authenticity, humour and intelligence. Filming is currently underway for the third and final season of the show, which is scheduled to premiere in 2026. The new season will see the return of the original cast, IFTA nominee Siobhán Cullen (Caroline), Adam Richardson (Ant), Oscar nominee Ciarán Hinds(Tom), Pom Boyd(Bernie), Moe Dunford(Jack)and Eoin Duffy(Rory). Season 3 is said to unearth a huge secret that changes the course of destiny for the Sheridans. But will their fragile family infrastructure shatter under the impact, or become stronger and more durable? 'It's going to be a wild ride' says Nancy Harris, 'and we can't wait to share it with our audience.'

Love Island fans 'work out' brutal recouping twist that could send two Islanders home
Love Island fans believe ITV has a brutal twist coming for the Islanders following last night's shock recoupling announcement. Love Island fans were caught off guard when a surprise text revealed there would be a recoupling in the villa - this time with the girls holding the power. Many viewers round the timing "random" and now suspect a major twist is on the way. Currently, the villa has an equal number of boys and girls following Malisha's recent exit. Her departure came after she and fellow singleton Toni went on separate dates with new bombshell Harrison, who ultimately chose to couple up with Toni. With everyone now coupled up, it seems unlikely that anyone will be left single after tonight's recoupling. However, fans are speculating that a dumping may still be looming, with a twist underway that will see an Islander dumped from the island. Taking to X, formally known as Twitter, viewers have been theorising that a public vote could be coming, finally giving fans the power to decide who stays and who goes. One fan penned: "They're recoupling then we vote for least compatible #LoveIsland," as another speculated: "It shouldn't have ended on a cliffhanger but probably means the aftermath of recoupling is chaos #LoveIsland." A third agreed, writing: "Noooo, that recoupling is going to be juicy #loveisland." While a third said: "I bet there would be a recoupling and public vote." Another suspicious fan chimed in, saying: "somethings fishy about this recoupling......#LoveIslandUK #loveisland." With another eagle eyed fan, predicting: "Is there an equal amount of girls or boys? I'm assuming the public vote tomorrow then #loveisland." The shock recoupling followed another drama-filled day in the villa, with a game being the source of the tension. The Islanders spent the afternoon playing a brutal game of spin the bottle. The Islanders found themselves switching partners frequently, as they faced a series of truths and dares. Tensions rose when Helena landed on a dare and Dejon dared her to kiss the islander she'd choose to recouple with. Without hesitation she kissed new bombshell Harrison - a move which turned heads. The drama didn't stop there, as Helena was visibly stunned when Shea was asked to give a one-word description of each islander - using the word 'mug' to describe her, following Harry's recent actions towards her. Things got even more complicated, when Megan pulled a truth card and was asked by Harry how she really felt about Conor - following the revelation that Conor had feelings for Megan, despite her being happily coupled with Tommy. Megan revealed that she and Connor had "unfinished business" from the first couple of days, much to Tommy and Emily, who is currently coupled up with Conor. Could this spark something new between Conor and Megan? And who will Megan choose to recouple with in tonight's recoupling?
