Columbus' Cameron and Cayden Boozer are Dade Boys' Basketball 7A-5A Players of the Year
Over four years, they helped transform Columbus' basketball program into a national powerhouse.
And in the process, Cameron and Cayden Boozer backed up the hype that made them two of the top-rated basketball players in the country.
They finished their careers in style recently winning their fourth state championship and securing that elusive national title when they led the Explorers to victory at Chipotle Nationals.
As such, the Boozer twins are this year's Miami Herald Class 7A-5A Boys' Basketball Players of the Year for Miami-Dade County.
The two are headed to Duke University together where they follow in the footsteps of their father, former NBA All-Star, Carlos Boozer.
Cameron, a three-time prior winner of this award, capped one of the most decorated careers of any South Florida athlete all-time.
Cameron, the No. 3-ranked overall prospect and top-ranked power forward prospect in the nation per 247Sports, averaged 22.1 points and 11.8 rebounds per game and showed off his versatility once again, also averaging 3.2 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.
He earned Gatorade National Player of the Year honors for the second time in his career.
He was also a McDonald's All-American, MaxPreps All-American and Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Florida winner just to name a few accolades.
Cayden, who averaged 14.3 points and 7.2 assists per game, conducted the Explorers' up-tempo offense once again and also averaged 3.8 rebounds per game.
Cayden, who ranks No. 4 nationally among point guards, also earned McDonald's All-American honors, took over in the Chipotle Nationals championship game, scoring 27 points to lead the Explorers to a 67-49 win over Dynamic Prep and the first ever title win in the event by a South Florida team.
Columbus, ranked No. 1 in the nation by MaxPreps, is the first team in Dade history to end the season ranked No. 1 in the polls.
'This was the last thing we needed on our bucket list and now we're just celebrating,' Cameron Boozer said during a postgame interview with ESPN. 'This is super sweet after last year, we knew we wanted to win it all and we came back and did it.'
The Boozer twins recently became the first athletes in Columbus' school history to have their jerseys retired. During their time there, they helped the Explorers become only the second team in county history to win four consecutive state championships.
'It's special and something we were dreaming about since we were freshmen,' Cayden Boozer said during a postgame interview that day with ESPN. 'To finish it the right way with the group we have is just an amazing feeling and doing it with my twin brother is a blessing.'

Travis Hunter gets his full $30.57 million signing bonus up front
When it comes to rookie contracts, there's not much to negotiate. On one of the few negotiable items, Jaguars receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter did very well. Adam Schefter of reports that Hunter will receive his full, slotted $30.57 million bonus up front. He's the first non-quarterback not taken first overall to get the full signing bonus up front. Advertisement Often, teams stagger the payments. Sometimes, a portion of the money isn't paid out for nearly a year. There's real value in getting the cash right away. It can be put to work, earning interest while Hunter does nothing. It's the least the Jaguars could do for a player who relishes the opportunity to work overtime. His contract won't pay him extra to play both ways; the total money is driven solely by the position in which he was drafted. When it's time for the Jaguars to pick up Hunter's fifth-year option, it will be driven by the position at which he takes the most snaps. Ditto for the franchise tag. Only in his second contract will Hunter have a chance to get paid for playing both positions. He won't be eligible for that until after his third regular season ends. The stakes will be high, for both sides. The Jaguars happily gave up their 2026 first-round pick and more to trade up three spots in the first round because they were getting two players in one — as their two-pronged social-media announcement of his signing confirms. At some point, they'll need to depart from a Collective Bargaining Agreement that doesn't contemplate paying extra money to a player who plays both ways.
