West Bengal BJP unit on Sunday slammed the ruling TMC over Eid-ul-Adha in Kolkata, sharing purported visuals of 'blood-soaked roads" in the aftermath of the celebrations.
State BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of turning the state into a 'Greater Bangladesh" through appeasement politics.
'When the Chief Minister of the state herself becomes desperate to turn West Bengal into a 'Greater Bangladesh' in order to cling to power through appeasement, the consequences are deeply alarming," said Majumdar in an X post.
Sharing visuals of the streets that 'turned into rivers of blood," he claimed that after 'a particular religious festival was celebrated yesterday", the streets are red, and even the water flowing from municipal taps is reportedly 'mixed with blood".

However, CNN-News18 couldn't independently verify the authenticity of the video.
The official X handle of the state unit of BJP also shared visuals of the streets, purportedly turned red, and stated, 'Yes, this isn't Dhaka, this is Kolkata. Right here in Chowringhee, Ward 44, the streets turned into rivers of blood."
'This shocking scene unfolded in the heart of the city on Eid, with no arrangements, no designated places, and absolutely no concern for public safety. People were forced to walk through blood-soaked roads, risking severe infections and diseases, all while the administration stood silent," it added.
He added that the videos shared by the opposition party— whose origin whether from a specific state, movie, or unrelated event—could not be verified.
'We will not comment on this. BJP wants to provoke this. What kind of video is it, what kind of picture is it, from which state it is taken, from which movie — they have a record of doing all this," TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said.

Eid ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, was celebrated across India on June 7. Muslims gathered at mosques and open grounds for morning prayers, followed by the ritual sacrifice of animals.

Jun 21, 2025 02:09 PM IST Punjab Police busted a cross-border drug smuggling racket with the arrest of two persons who were allegedly in touch with a Pakistan-based smuggler, a top police officer said on Saturday. Two people were arrested by the Punjab Police in its efforts against cross-border drug smuggling. (Representative image/ANI)(ANI) Police also recovered 6.15 kg of heroin, a .30 bore pistol with four cartridges and ₹ 10,000 cash from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav. The accused have been identified as Lovepreet Singh alias Love and Balwinder Singh alias Bobby, Yadav said in a post on X. "Preliminary investigation reveals the accused were in direct contact with a #Pakistan-based smuggler via #WhatsApp, indicating a strong cross-border nexus," the DGP said. An FIR has been registered in the matter at Lopoke police station in Amritsar. Further investigations are underway to trace forward and backward linkages, Yadav said.

'At present, there is no idea for new recruitment for the plant and the first duty is to save this plant and sort out the workers issue and after strengthening the plant, there will be new recruitment,' the Minister added. Responding to a question on the BJP trying to divide regional parties, the Union Minister replied that the BJP is not dividing the parties. The regional parties in some States are dividing themselves owing to personal issues. The BJP is working to strengthen the country. Regarding the language issue in releasing the actor Kamal Haasan-starred Thug Life movie in Karnataka, the Minister said the movie was released already.
