Red Sox reinstate Wilyer Abreu, option Kristian Campbell to Triple-A
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The Boston Red Sox have reinstated outfielder Wilyer Abreu from the 10-day injured list and optioned Kristian Campbell to Triple-A Worcester.
Abreu had been placed on the injured list on June 9 with a left oblique strain and will make his return when the Red Sox open a three-game series on the road against the San Francisco Giants on Friday night.
The Red Sox also traded lefty Zach Penrod to the Los Angeles Dodgers for cash. The 28-year-old Penrod was designated for assignment on Sunday. He had a 4.91 ERA in seven games in the minors this season.
Abreu played two rehab games at Worcester before being activated. He played 64 games this season in the majors, batting .245 with 13 homers and 32 RBIs.
The 22-year-old Campbell played 67 games so far this season, starting 54 at second base and eight more in the outfield. He was batting .223 with six homers and 21 RBIs.

Bryce Harper Seemingly Nearing Return for Phillies After Latest Injury Update
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Philadelphia Phillies have some much-needed good news regarding Bryce Harper's wrist injury. On Friday, Harper played catch with front office executive Howie Kendrick, fielded some ground balls and took about 15 swings off a tee in the batting cage, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic. It's baby steps for Harper, but steps that need to be taken to get him back on the field. TORONTO, ON - JUNE 4: Bryce Harper #3 of the Philadelphia Phillies walks to the dugout in a break in play against the Toronto Blue Jays in their MLB game at the Rogers Centre on June 4, 2025 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. More"It felt better than I thought it would," Harper told Gelb. "So I'm happy about that." While Harper has reportedly been reassured by multiple doctors that he won't need surgery now or in the offseason, that doesn't mean he will finish the year pain-free when he does return. It will all come down to load management from the Phillies. "Harper is all but certain to play through some continued pain this season; the goal is to make it tolerable," wrote Gelb. "Harper said the best treatment has been rest. He's now comfortable with beginning more activities on the field." The Phillies went into Saturday one game ahead of the New York Mets for first place in the National League East. Manager Rob Thomson was certainly happy about the progress. "Very good," Phillies manager Rob Thomson told The Athletic. "I mean, we wouldn't do the tee (Friday) if there was any significant pain, for sure." Gelb reported there is no specific timetable for Harper's return, but he does note the star will not go on a rehab assignment to the minor leagues. It's big leagues or bust for Harper. Former Pacers star Jalen Rose makes bold four-word prediction for Game 7 of NBA Finals
David is one win away from taking down Goliath. The Indiana Pacers have scratched and clawed their way to forcing a Game 7 against the heavily favored Oklahoma City Thunder. Game 7 on Sunday night may be in Oklahoma City, but former Pacers star Jalen Rose has a (rather not surprising) bold prediction. "All Indy all day," he told Fox News Digital at Fanatics Fest in New York on Friday. Rose raved about Tyrese Haliburton, who has had his fair share of memorable playoff moments this year. In Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, he mimicked Pacers legend Reggie Miller with a choke signal. In Game 1 of this series, he hit a game-winner with 0.3 seconds left. Haliburton played 23 minutes in Game 6 as he deals with a reported calf strain, but if he gets even better by Sunday, Rose thinks his prediction is even more obvious. "I just wish Haliburton is healthy for Game 7. If he's ready to go, Indiana's gonna win it," he claimed. "He can dribble, pass and shoot, he makes people around him better, he has an infectious smile. I'm really rooting for him, I'm really rooting for the team, and he's going to keep getting better." The Pacers won Game 1 because of Haliburton, and even took a 2-1 series lead after winning the third game of the series. The Thunder then began to show why they won 68 games in the regular season, winning each of the next two. But with the Pacers' 108-91 win on Thursday, Oklahoma City has outscored Indiana by just seven total points in the entire series. A win for the Pacers on Sunday would give them their first NBA championship. They won three ABA titles in the early 1970s. As for Oklahoma City, it would be their first championship since 1979 when they were the Seattle SuperSonics. He's got a lot to like about his game including the ability to be a three-down player that can go sideline-to-sideline. But his recruitment has been a roller coaster.
