Some like Deloitte are taking it a notch higher by tracking employee fitness as part of the performance management system. Others, like natural resources and technology conglomerate
Vedanta
, are introducing digital fitness tracking on a voluntary basis for employees. Accenture has launched 'Purple Corridors' programme for in-depth conversations to identify employee well-being needs. Myntra recently launched a meditation space called 'Dhyan Kaksha.'
Titan
on the other hand, is conducting fitness challenges for employees, like the 21-Day Kummiaatam Dance Challenge at its manufacturing unit, especially for women.
'In the last few years, we have seen a clear shift in employees' attitudes towards health and well-being especially among younger employees and women professionals,' said Vedanta CHRO Madhu Srivastava. Over the years, participation in marathons, yoga sessions, and sports tournaments has increased significantly at Vedanta.
The conglomerate is also conducting tailored wellness campaigns based on site-specific needs, Srivastava said.
Professional services firm Deloitte has made completion of annual health assessment a key performance indicator for all employees.
Inculcating Healthy Habits
Deloitte runs the FitCheck initiative, which mandates annual health assessments for all employees and their spouses or partners. 'We share timely prompts and nudges via emails, leadership messages, and inspiring stories,' said its chief happiness officer, Saraswathi Kasturirangan. This is tracked on the performance management dashboard for year-end reviews.
Accenture is running an initiative called 'Prana Pod' led by certified yoga instructors for sessions on mindful movement and breathing. It is also conducting expert-led workshops on fitness activities like Yoga, Tai Chi, and Zumba.
Recently, Accenture launched a 'Purple Corridors' programme which involves in-depth conversations to identify employee well-being needs. 'The team sets collective goals and implements micro-actions like prioritising annual health check-ups, promoting ergonomic posture, and organising fitness challenges,' said its senior managing director and CHRO, Lakshmi C.
Software company Intuit has a well-being hub that offers personalised wellness journeys. It also has an activity programme where employees get rewarded for their healthy habits. 'This is also available to spouses or domestic partners, and we are encouraged to challenge friends and coworkers,' said its director - talent acquisition, Mohan Kumar.
Intuit also offers a 'Well-being for Life Programme' where one can reimburse up to ?60,000 per year for physical, emotional, and financial well-being expenses.
Myntra offers wellness activities, including Yoga, Zumba, guided meditation, and mental wellness workshops to employees. It recently inaugurated pickleball courts at its office and inaugurated 'Dhyan Kaksha', a meditation space. The ecommerce platform also arranged regular health check-ups, like quarterly ECG screenings, and awareness initiatives, such as World Heart Day sessions with expert cardiologists, said its CHRO, Govindraj MK.
Tata Group's Titan Company conducts comprehensive health data analysis at its manufacturing facility. Each Titan employee has a Health Score based on 18 critical parameters. 'This allows us to track and monitor health trends over time,' said its head—human resources, Priya Mathilakath Pillai.
Titan also conducts fitness challenges for employees, like the 21-Day Kummiaatam Dance Challenge (Manufacturing Unit) where women participants underwent a health assessment following which they practiced for two hours each day after work hours.
'An incredible 64% of participants reported significant health benefits by the end of the challenge,' according to Pillai.
WTW Wellbeing Diagnostic Survey India findings of 2024 point out that 76% companies plan to connect wellbeing to their human capital strategy. According to Vinod VK, head of health and benefits India, WTW, there is a growing trend of strategic initiatives implemented by Indian employers.

New Delhi: Major dilutions to local content rules for the telecom sector under the Public Procurement Order could negatively impact Indian firms by giving greater access to multinational corporations (MNCs) in government contracts without manufacturing in India, according to the Global Trade Research Initiative ( GTRI ) . The GTRI in a note further said that the move will benefit major foreign MNCs active in the Indian telecom component industry. Earlier this month, on June 3, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) initiated a public consultation to revise its Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India) (PPP-MII) Order for the telecom sector. The consultation, open to industry comments until July 3, proposes a series of technical adjustments to the existing local content (LC) framework -- changes that could have far-reaching consequences for the sector's future. "Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is moving to relax local content norms for government telecom procurement -- a shift that could favour multinational corporations (MNCs) like Cisco and Ericsson while undermining Indian manufacturers who have invested in domestic production and innovation," GTRI's note added prepared by former Indian Trade Service Officer, Ajay Srivastava said. It added that MNCs are "lobbying India's Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to ease local content (LC) requirements, as they struggle to qualify as Class-I local suppliers for government telecom tenders." India's current PPP-MII policy, which was first updated in October 2024, mandates that any firm seeking preference in government telecom tenders must meet a minimum 50 per cent local content threshold. Srivastava added in the note that in order to qualify as a "Class-I" supplier and enjoy pricing and selection advantages, firms must demonstrate that at least 50 per cent of a product's value is sourced or manufactured in India which has become a difficult task for MNCs. The PPP-MII policy applies to 36 key telecom product categories -- including routers, ethernet switches, GPON devices, media gateways, customer premises equipment (CPE), satellite terminals, telecom batteries, and optical fibre and cables. Under the current PPP-MII framework, several exclusions apply to the calculation of local content. Imported parts routed through Indian resellers, royalties, overseas technical fees, and refurbished products do not count toward Indian value addition. Design and software work performed in India is permitted, but the value generated is capped, with restrictions in place to prevent companies from inflating LC percentages purely on the basis of R&D activities while continuing to import most hardware components. Srivastava added in the note that global majors are finding it "difficult to meet these thresholds." He further added that the underlying issue is that most of the work performed in India is done on an outsourcing basis for their foreign parent companies. The parent companies retain ownership of intellectual property (IP) and earn the bulk of profits. Highlighting the impact of policy change, GTRI note said that the move will put Indian telecom firms -- who have made long-term investments in Indian-based manufacturing, R&D, and IP development -- at a severe disadvantage. "Such Indian firms would face the prospect of losing market share to foreign MNCs whose products remain largely imported and foreign-owned," the GTRI note added. It further points out that dilution of standards would discourage Indian firms from investing in genuine IP creation, as Class-I status could now be achieved simply through superficial assembly or software wrapping of imported goods. "India's telecom sector would remain reliant on foreign technologies, with little strategic control," the GTRI note added.

Snap Inc acquires social calendar app Saturn to deepen Gen Z engagement
Snap Inc has acquired Saturn , a social calendar app used by high school students across the US, the company confirmed on Friday. While financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the app will continue to operate independently for now. Founded in 2018 by Dylan Diamond and Max Baron, Saturn helps students manage rotation calendars, block schedules, lunch waves, and other academic timetables — a niche that has made it widely adopted among teenagers. According to the company, over 80% of UShigh schools use Saturn, positioning it as a highly engaged platform for Gen Z users. As part of the acquisition, Saturn's full team of around 30 employees will join Snap Inc, according to tech news publications TechCrunch. The move is expected to help Snap incorporate social planning and time-management features more seamlessly into Snapchat, reinforcing its efforts to stay relevant with younger audiences. Saturn had previously raised $44 million in funding from investors including General Catalyst , Insight Partners, Coatue, Bezos Expeditions, and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff. The app's origin traces back to when cofounder Dylan Diamond, then a high school student, built an early version to help classmates manage their schedules — a tool that saw 90% adoption on his campus, ultimately laying the foundation for Saturn. Snap has long positioned itself as a 'camera company' with a social core, and this acquisition aligns with its broader strategy of building personalised, utility-driven tools for its Gen Z user base. The integration of Saturn's features could offer Snap new avenues to boost daily engagement and extend time spent on the platform — an area of increasing focus amid competition from TikTok and BeReal.
