said his party will not let the project take off unless all residents get 500 sq ft homes and are made eligible for free housing in Dharavi.

Addressing a rally in Mulund as part of the party's flagship campaign, 'Ladha Aaplya Mumbaicha' (Fight for our Mumbai), ahead of BMC polls, Aaditya said: "Our stand is clear.
All residents must be made eligible, or else we won't let them be moved out of Dharavi. Every family must get a 500 sq ft home...the GIFT city was snatched from Mumbai and taken to Gujarat. BKC and Dharavi must get the status of GIFT city, only then will we allow the Dharavi redevelopment project to be taken forward." Hitting out at Mulund MLA Mihir Kotecha, Aaditya played a video of the BJP leader in the legislative assembly claiming that not a single sq ft of land in Mulund was given to anyone. Alleging that Kotecha was lying, he said: "The rights and privileges Adani is getting, why aren't Mumbaikars getting the same benefits? We don't know where lakhs of Dharavi residents will live in the eastern suburbs. Will the roads be enough, what about water and electricity?" he asked. — Chaitanya Marpakwar

Center to develop nine roads leading to Nashik ahead of Kumbh mela
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said that all roads connecting Nashik will be developed and upgraded in view of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Nashik. A total of nine roads will be developed by the central government ahead of the religious meet in 2027 and as per the preliminary estimate, the work is likely to cost a further Rs 4000 crore. A high-level meeting regarding the highway connecting Nashik was held on Sunday in the presence of Union Road Development Minister Nitin Gadkari at Nagpur. Gadkari extended in-principle approval to the construction of necessary roads and facilities required for the upcoming Kumbh Mela to be held in Nashik as a huge crowd of devotees is expected to arrive, leading to a strain on the traffic system. It was decided that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared soon and funds will be made available for this. The routes to be developed include, Ghoti – Pahine – Trimbakeshwar – Jawhar Phata; Dwarka Circle – Sinnar IC 21 (Samruddhi Expressway) Nandur Shingote – Kolhar; Nashik to Kasara; Savli Vihir (IC 20 Samruddhi Expressway) Shirdi – Shani Shingnapur Phata (Rahuri Khurd); Nashik to Dhule; Trimbakeshwar – Jawhar – Manor; Shadow Well – Manmad – Malegaon; Ghoti – Sinnar – Vavi – Shirdi; Shani Shingnapur Phata (Rahuri Khurd) – Ahilyanagar (Kharwandi Phata).The meeting approved the Nashik Ring Road. Along with this, it was decided to make the Nashik to Trimbak road six-lane. 'The cost will be calculated post preparation of the DPR. But the central government has assured all possible financial help as well,' said an official from the Maharashtra Public Works Department (PWD). He added, the estimated Rs 4000 crore is for the construction of roads and additional money will be required for the Nashik ring road project. 'Keeping in view the increasing interest of devotees towards Kumbh Mela and the expected crowd, I had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide assistance at the central government level for its successful planning and enabling infrastructure road development. As a result this meeting was held today,' said Fadnavis. There are eight important routes to Nashik from Mumbai, Gujarat, Palghar, Pune, Ahilyanagar, Sambhajinagar, Dhule. All these routes and the internal roads in Nashik city and the district also connect to the national highway. The meeting considered the development of all those roads. CM Fadnavis said that the expanded road network will provide more safe facilities to the devotees as it will handle the huge traffic expected during the Kumbh Mela.

Bombay HC disposes plea against loudspeaker use at Thakur village in Kandivali, asks petitioners to seek remedy under law
The Bombay High Court disposed of a writ plea seeking prohibition on the use of loudspeakers and other noise-emitting devices at a public premises in Thakur village, Kandivali (East). The court asked the petitioners to approach the authority concerned for the remedy available as per law. A bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sandeep V Marne on June 18 made the observation while hearing a plea filed by activist Bhavesh Premchand Kalia and lawyer Rajeev Kumar Sharma, who are also local residents, through advocate Reena Rolland. The plea sought direction to the Mumbai police commissioner to immediately prohibit the use of loudspeakers and direct the state government to strictly implement the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000. The plea also sought direction to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to take over the complete possession of the said public premises and regulate its use for the welfare of residents of Thakur village by developing it into a garden as per the original Development Plan and stop commercial misuse of the public property. It sought direction to the government to declare the premises a silent zone, considering its proximity to three schools, colleges, and hospitals. The petitioners claimed that while in 2015, the Thakur Public Schools 1 & 2 and Oxford International School were designated as part of the silence zone, they were excluded in 2017. Later, as per the plea, the BMC in the same year confirmed that it had taken over the public premises in question, which were initially given to Thakur College of Science and Commerce. Despite the same, the plea claimed that the premises continued to be in unauthorised possession and used by certain influential private individuals. The petitioners added that the police had granted permission for the use of loudspeakers on the said public premises in 2023, but they did not monitor decibel levels. They added that despite residents making several complaints against BMC and police authorities, no action was taken. Advocates Hare Krishna Mishra and Kunal Jha representing Thakur Educational Trust opposed the plea. They argued that the issues involved in the present plea had already been adjudicated in previous high court decisions involving larger consideration of noise pollution norms. 'In case if any one is acting in violation of the directions issued by the Division Bench of this Court in the aforesaid decision, it is open for the petitioners to take recourse to such remedies as may be available to them in law,' the HC bench said and disposed of the plea.

Maha: Fadnavis takes dig at Rahul Gandhi over Make in India
Nagpur, June 22 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday took a dig at senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, for having no knowledge of the 'Make in India' initiative. Talking to reporters after reviewing various projects here, he claimed that Rahul Gandhi does not even know what is the Make in India. "Rahul Gandhi does not know what is being built in the country, so he does not know Make in India. When the Congress was in power, India's economy was the 11th largest in the world. However. in last 10 years, India has become the fourth largest economy in the world," the CM said and asked Rahul Gandhi to do his homework on this.
