Sergio Aguiar and David Stancombe, the dads of two young girls killed at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in England in July, ran the 2025 London Marathon in their daughters' honor
'This is an incredible way to honor the memory of your precious daughters, and the entire nation is in awe of your courage and resilience,' said UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer
Aguiar's daughter Alice, 9, Stancombe's daughter Elsie, 7, and a third victim, 6-year-old Bebe King, were fatally stabbed by Axel Rudakubana, who has been sentenced to life in prison
The fathers of two of the three young girls killed at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in 2024 ran the 2025 London Marathon in their honor.
On Sunday, April 27, Sergio Aguiar and David Stancombe took on the 26.2-mile course in a moving show of love for their late daughters and to raise money for charity.
They completed the race, with London Express reporting that Aguiar was visibly emotional as he crossed the finish line and fell to the ground.
Aguiar was pictured smiling and holding a medal after the completion the marathon, while wearing a shirt with a portrait of his late daughter Alice Dasilva Aguiar, 9. The shirt featured information for a GoFundMe to raise money to build a playground at Churchtown Primary School in honor of his daughter and another stabbing victim Bebe King, 6.

Stancombe was photographed flashing a thumbs up at the end of the race. Similar to Aguiar, he wore a white shirt promoting the charitable trust Elsie's Story — created for his late daughter Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7.
Prior to the race, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer shared a video to voice his support for the two marathoners. 'David and Sergio, I want to wish you the very best of luck in the London Marathon this weekend,' he said.
'I know how much it means to you and your families. This is an incredible way to honor the memory of your precious daughters, and the entire nation is in awe of your courage and resilience,' Starmer added. 'We'll all be with you every step of the way. Good luck."

On July 29, 2024, David's daughter Elsie, Sergio's daughter Alice and King were fatally stabbed at a Swift-themed dance class at The Hart Space community center in Southport, England.
In January, Axel Rudakubana, 18, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 52 years after admitting to his role in the deadly attack, Merseyside Police announced in a press release.
During the attack, Rudakubana, who was 17 at the time, also wounded eight other children and two adults, including event organizer and yoga teacher Leanne Lucas.
'There were 26 children at the party, all of them happy and enjoying themselves," Judge Julian Goose said during Rudakubana's sentencing hearing. "He targeted those children for the horrific, extreme violence he was intent upon. It was such extreme violence of the utmost seriousness [that] it was difficult to comprehend."
Sergio did not have much running experience before training for the marathon. He told BBC Breakfast that he talks to his late daughter Alice while out on runs.
"I tell her to keep going with me, that we're going to do this together, you're going to be with me — always," said Sergio, who was raising money to build a new playground at Churchtown Primary School, where Alice was a student. Jinnie Payne, the school's headteacher, offered to run alongside Sergio in the marathon.
Bebe's parents, Lauren and Ben King, planned to attend the race to cheer on David and Sergio, according to the outlet.
"It is just incredible what they are both doing," Lauren said. "And we want to be a part of it every step of the way."
David told the outlet that around 40 other friends and family members would be on the sidelines to support him, wearing T-shirts and sweatshirts bearing the Elsie's Story logo. "I want to enjoy the day. I want to do it for me and I want to do it for Elsie," he said.

His wife, Jenni Stancombe, told BBC Breakfast that she had no doubt he would complete the marathon, noting, "I know it will be Elsie who'll be the one to carry him over that finish line."
Sergio was equally determined to finish the course.
"Twenty-six miles, I've never done anything like that before. But for my girl, I would do 26 or 50 — whatever," he told the outlet. "The pain doesn't matter. I'm going to do it."

In 2026, the Party's in the USA. Here's Where to Celebrate

Whether you're a history buff, sports nut or road warrior, there are compelling reasons to visit the United States in 2026. That's because the nation will celebrate its 250th birthday, soccer will crown its world champion and America's Mother Road turns 100. So there's plenty to celebrate in 2026. Here's where to find the party. Philly is, quite literally, the birthplace of American democracy. Philadelphia's Independence Hall is the room where it happened – "it" being the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. In addition to history, this Pennsylvania city will debut the Ministry of Awe. It's a former bank, now owned by a group of artists who have turned the six-story building into a traversable immersive work of art where you can make a deposit or a withdrawal of awe. How cool is that? For film buffs, 2026 also marks the 50th birthday of the first "Rocky" movie, so there will be Rocky-themed tours. And, of course, you'll want to run up the 72 steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. SheBuysTravel Tip: Here's how to spend a weekend with girlfriends in Philadelphia. And here are fun things to do with kids in Philly. This is the state on my to-do list for 2026. It will be my 50th state.. And the reason to visit: The opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library honoring the nation's 26th president. I'm a sucker for a good presidential library. I love seeing the way their actions are portrayed in a positive light. (If you don't believe me, stop by the Herbert Hoover presidential library in West Branch, Iowa. It makes the president who presided over the Great Depression look like a great leader.) I was surprised to learn that Teddy, a strong leader and fierce conservationist who created five new National Parks, never had a presidential library. But, as the library notes on its website, "The world needs Theodore Roosevelt now more than ever." SheBuysTravel Tip: Check out these fun things to do in Medora, ND. Known as football to the rest of the world, the premier soccer championship will take place in North America, with games set for Canada, Mexico and the U.S. American host cities are: AtlantaBostonDallasHoustonKansas CityLos AngelesMiamiNew York/New JerseyPhiladelphiaSeattleSan Francisco Bay Area Philadelphia gets bonus points on the sports scorecard. It also will host the National Football League draft, the Professional Golf Association championship and the Major League Baseball All-Star series in 2026 – all over the course of eight weeks next summer. Route 66, America's legendary highway affectionately known as "The Mother Road," hits the century mark in 2026. The iconic Route 66 winds more than 2,400 miles from Chicago to Santa Monica. Immortalized in song, people have been getting their kicks on Route 66 since 1926. Route 66 became the go-to path for classic American vacations complete with neon-lit roadside motels, giant roadside attractions, and diner milkshakes. The highway winds through eight states: IllinoisMissouriKansasOklahomaTexasNew MexicoArizonaCalifornia Though it was officially retired from the U.S. Highway System in 1985, Route 66 never really went away. Instead, it became a living time capsule, lovingly preserved by fans, travelers, and small towns that keep its magic alive. Now, the road is gearing up for a coast-to-coast birthday bash. Expect vintage car parades, live music, food fests, and probably more than a few Elvis impersonators. SheBuysTravel Tip: When you want an affordable room for the night, choose a Signature Inn. There are two ways to answer this question: from the perspective of America's political leaders and from the perspective of its people. While the message from the White House is that not all visitors are welcome here, the destinations that were represented at IPW in Chicago in June 2025 made it clear that they welcome everyone, regardless of color or creed. And, of course, the people of America are warm and wonderful. Take, for example, the Mexican man in Chicago's heavily Hispanic Little Village neighborhood. He spoke little English, but when an Australian writer needed a ride to catch her bus, he stepped up. And, when he realized she had left her hat in his car, he again went out of his way to return it to her. That's Midwest nice and a warm American welcome. The post In 2026, the Party's in the USA. Teen charged with murder in Riviera shooting of man, 18

RIVIERA BEACH — Riviera Beach police arrested a boy Friday they believe fatally shot an 18-year-old Lake Worth Beach man who recently graduated from high school near the top of his class and whom his family said had dreams of being a firefighter. City police are charging the juvenile, whom officers are not naming, with second-degree murder in the killing of Elias Timothy Morrero, the Riviera Beach Police Department said Saturday in a news release. He is also being charged with being a minor possessing a firearm and using a firearm for a felony. The alleged killer was booked Friday, June 20, police said, and is now being held in the Juvenile Assessment Center. City police responded Thursday, June 19, to a report of a shooting in the 2800 block of Avenue S. There they found Morrero, who had stopped his car near 28th Street and Avenue S and exited the vehicle clutching his neck from a gunshot injury. Paramedics took Morrero to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, where he died. Morrero's family has set up an online fundraiser on GoFundMe for his funeral, titled "Forever 18: Remembering Elias Our Brightest Light." His family is hoping to raise $20,000. They were more than halfway to that total Saturday afternoon thanks to nearly 200 donors. Morrero had graduated from high school in May with honors, the fundraiser web page says. He was also captain of his Fire Academy class, the training program required in Florida for aspiring firefighters. And he was a big brother to five younger siblings — Elianna, Elissia, Everly, Elijah and Ezariah, the family said. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Tillman Funeral Home & Crematory.
