What are the answers for today's NYT Connections groups?
YELLOW: ITEMS IN A SEWING KIT
GREEN: CAPTURE ON VIDEO
BLUE: PRO WRESTLING ICONS, WITH 'THE'
PURPLE: WAX ___
Right, the answers are below, so DO NOT SCROLL ANY FURTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE THEM.
The answers to today's Connections, game #740, are…
YELLOW: ITEMS IN A SEWING KIT BUTTON, NEEDLE, SCISSORS, THREAD
GREEN: CAPTURE ON VIDEO FILM, RECORD, SHOOT, TAPE
BLUE: PRO WRESTLING ICONS, WITH 'THE' HITMAN, ROCK, SNAKE, UNDERTAKER
PURPLE: WAX ___ MUSEUM, PAPER, POETIC, SEAL
My rating: Easy
My score: Perfect
Look, I'll be honest here, even though it may upset some people, but I do not get pro wrestling. I simply don't understand it at all – what's the point? It's all staged!
Anyway, that didn't stop me solving the blue PRO WRESTLING ICONS, WITH "THE" group first, because UNDERTAKER, HITMAN and ROCK were all obvious and SNAKE seemed a far more likely fourth inclusion than 'The Museum' or 'The Button'. Sorry, Mr Snake, but I had not heard of you.
Green was an easy one, made easier still by the fact that FILM, RECORD, SHOOT and TAPE had lined themselves up on one line and therefore made them jump straight off the board and into my brain. Yellow was even simpler, to the extent that I can't believe I didn't spot it sooner, and though I didn't need to solve purple I think I might have done if I'd had to.
How did you do today? Let me know in the comments below.
YELLOW: COMPONENTS OF ONE'S GRADE ATTENDANCE, FINAL, HOMEWORK, PAPERS
GREEN: MAP APP OPTIONS DESTINATION, ROUTE, STARTING POINT, STOPS
BLUE: CLASSIC TOYS BALL, BLOCKS, JACKS, TRAIN
PURPLE: FENCING GEAR FOILS, GLOVES, JACKETS, MASKS
NYT Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games made by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four items that share something in common, and each group has a different difficulty level: green is easy, yellow a little harder, blue often quite tough and purple usually very difficult.
On the plus side, you don't technically need to solve the final one, as you'll be able to answer that one by a process of elimination. What's more, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you a little bit of breathing room.
It's a little more involved than something like Wordle, however, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to trip you up with tricks. For instance, watch out for homophones and other word games that could disguise the answers.
It's playable for free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.

TRON: ARES Heads to Hall H at Comic-Con, but the Spotlight Comes with Controversy — GeekTyrant

With Marvel Studios sitting this year's Hall H out, Disney is shifting the spotlight to Tron: Ares . According to TheWrap, the long-awaited sequel will be the company's flagship presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, and that's a big deal, both in terms of fan anticipation and the complicated conversation that now surrounds the film. Tron: Ares stars Jared Leto as the titular program, and he's the face of this next chapter in Disney's decades-spanning digital frontier. But Leto's involvement now brings a heavier context. Earlier this month, AirMail published a detailed report in which multiple women accused the actor of inappropriate and sexual misconduct, including allegations that some incidents occurred when they were underage. One source told the outlet that his behavior 'has been an open secret for a long time.' Leto has denied the allegations. Meanwhile, Disney and Amazon MGM Studios, who are also working with him on Masters of the Universe , where he's set to play Skeletor, have remained silent. It's unclear whether Leto will appear on the Hall H stage, or if Disney will shift the focus to other cast members like Greta Lee, Cameron Monaghan, Jodie Turner-Smith, and returning legacy star Jeff Bridges. Given that Tron: Ares hasn't had much marketing presence since its teaser trailer, Comic-Con would be the obvious place to drop something major, assuming Disney decides to stay the course. There's still a lot of mystery around the movie itself, but it's currently scheduled for release on October 10. With SDCC running July 24–27, we'll soon see how Disney navigates the mix of fandom hype and real-world controversy that now surrounds this title. Either way, Tron: Ares is set to be one of the biggest, and possibly most talked-about films of the convention.

Rey's Return to STAR WARS Reportedly Paused as Lucasfilm Prioritizes Other Projects — GeekTyrant

The Rey-centric Star Wars movie may be hitting pause… again. According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, the long-gestating New Jedi Order film, which would see Daisy Ridley reprise her role as Rey under the direction of Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, is reportedly back on hold. Richtman says, 'The Rey movie is on hold once again, as both the Shawn Levy and James Mangold Star Wars films are moving forward first. The project is not canceled — just temporarily on hold.' This shift isn't entirely unexpected. After Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight exited the project, a new writer was never publicly confirmed. Despite that uncertainty, Lucasfilm still appeared to view the film as a priority… until now. The status of Rey's next chapter has been murky for a while. One moment it's full speed ahead, the next it's reworking behind the scenes. But don't count Rey out just yet. In fact, a previously report suggests she still plays a major role in Lucasfilm's long-term plans. 'Rey, the scavenger-turned-Jedi played by Daisy Ridley in the last three episode movies, is key to the franchise's next turn. That potentially puts Kinberg's trilogy story development, as early in its conceptual stages as it may be, on a collision course with the Rey standalone movie that is actively in the works with director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.' The report went even further, noting that Ridley's Rey is more than just another character. According to one unnamed source: 'She is the most valuable cinematic asset, in some ways maybe the only one, Star Wars has right now.' That might explain why writer-producer Simon Kinberg ( X-Men: Dark Phoenix ) is reportedly developing a new trilogy that could feature Rey in some capacity, though how it connects to New Jedi Order is still unclear. As for Ridley herself, she spoke about her return last year in an interview with Premiere magazine: "They simply asked if I wanted to do it, based on an idea, without the script being written yet. But if I hadn't been convinced by the concept, the movie wouldn't have been made. I took a day to think about it and I told myself that I had had great times making those films. 'This new adventure seemed fun to me, so why say no? My thoughts on the subject are quite simple: if I didn't think the story was worth telling, I wouldn't have come back." The project was said to be set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker , with Rey building a new Jedi Order from scratch. Whether that vision still stands or gets absorbed into another project remains to be seen. For now, the wait for Rey's return continues… again.
