The Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) and the National Film and Television School (NFTS) collaborated over the course of a year on the project for the films, which will be screened for the first time in August.
Original James Bond star Sir Sean Connery, originally from Edinburgh, died in October 2020 aged 90.

His sons, Jason and Stephane, launched the Sean Connery Foundation to 'expand opportunities for talented young people from Scotland to access rewarding careers in the film industry'.
They said their father 'made it a priority to attend the Edinburgh Film Festival' and knew 'first-hand what it meant to work hard and struggle for opportunity'.
The films will be premiered between August 14 and 20.
Chris Young, head of the Sean Connery Talent Lab, praised the initiative as having the potential for 'expanding the film-making community here in Scotland'.
The films to be premiered are Gowk, directed by Ryan Pollock, Nora Can't Score, directed by Josefa Celestin, Catriona Macleod's Lady Maclean, and Twenty Twenty, from director Alex Salam.
Also included are Static, directed by Miranda Stern, and Checkout, from director Mairead Hamilton.
Paul Ridd, chief executive and director of the EIFF, said: 'We are so impressed by the depth and range of films that have emerged from the exciting first year of this brilliant initiative, one which, like our own centrepiece Festival Prize, has been made possible by The Sean Connery Foundation and their generous support for meaningful film industry change.
'Under the expert tutelage of Chris Young and the many industry experts who have given up their time this past year to offer advice and mentorship, these filmmakers have emerged with bold, distinctive work that we are honoured to include in our programme and present to our audiences in August.
'The future of cinema is bright in the hands of this exciting new generation of Scottish and Scotland-based talent.'
Jon Wardle, NFTS director, said: 'The first cohort of the Sean Connery Talent Lab has exceeded all expectations, not only in the calibre of their work, but in the boldness and ambition of their film-making vision.
Sir Sean died in 2020 (Yui Mok/PA)
'What they've achieved in such a short space of time is genuinely remarkable. It proves what's possible when emerging talent is given the right support, mentorship and creative freedom.
'The selection of these six films for world premieres at EIFF is a powerful validation of the Talent Lab model.
'We are immensely grateful to the Sean Connery Foundation, BBC Film and all our Talent Lab partners.
'Their unwavering belief and commitment to nurturing the next generation of Scottish storytellers has been nothing short of transformative. This success simply wouldn't have been possible without them.'
Chris Young, head of the Sean Connery Talent Lab, said: 'I'm hugely proud of what our very first cohort of students have achieved this year.
'They've embraced every opportunity the programme has offered and their collaboration has been terrific.
'The high quality of these short films, reflected in their showcase selection for Edinburgh International Film Festival world premieres, demonstrates perfectly the profound importance of providing a platform for new voices in film, and the potential for expanding the filmmaking community here in Scotland.
'What an incredible beginning for the Talent Lab and for the future of Scottish storytelling on screen.'
Stephane and Jason Connery said: 'The premiere of these first short films from the Sean Connery Talent Lab marks a powerful continuation of our father's legacy—championing excellence, ambition, and opportunity in the arts.
'It's especially meaningful to see this work take shape in Edinburgh, the city of his birth and the place he loved most.
'We are deeply grateful to the Talent Lab's outstanding leadership and to our generous partners for supporting this new generation of cinematic talent.'

Dua Lipa and famous fiancé keen to avoid one thing at their wedding

With a dream wedding said to be on the cards, it seems Dua Lipa has finally found Mr Right in actor Callum Turney - but there's one thing they don't planning having when they say their "I Do's" So many of Dua Lipa's songs are about failed and messy relationships that you might imagine her facing life as a perpetual singleton. However, nothing could be further from the truth, as she has been blissfully loved-up with British actor Callum Turner for nearly 18 months. The pair were said to have got engaged at Christmas, almost a year after first being seen together at the premiere of Callum's Apple TV+ series, Masters Of The Air, in January 2024. They were then spotted enjoying dinner dates in LA and looking cosy at afterparties for the BAFTAs, the BRITs and the Grammys. ‌ In an Instagram snap last October, they appeared smitten following the recording of Dua's televised Royal Albert Hall concert in London, with Callum kissing her on the cheek. 'Post-show fun and so much love!!!' Dua wrote. And during Paris Fashion Week this January, a viral clip showed them smooching, dancing and taking selfies under the Eiffel Tower. ‌ Callum was previously in a long-term relationship with The Crown actress Vanessa Kirby, but while being quizzed about upcoming movie Eternity earlier this year, he appeared to confirm his and Dua's rock-solid status. Asked who he wanted to spend all eternity with, his short but sweet reply was, 'My girlfriend.' Dua and Callum first sparked engagement rumours on Christmas Eve when she shared an Instagram snap that showed a ring on her wedding finger. Another photo of her sipping a martini on New Year 's Eve also showed the beautiful gold band with a diamond at its centre. However, the lovebirds have not publicly confirmed any marriage plans, preferring to keep their relationship as low-key as possible. 'Dua seems to have found 'the one', but she's not someone who talks about her love life openly,' says music journalist John Earls. 'I think she'll want to avoid any sense of it becoming 'The Dua and Callum Show', so we probably won't know much if and when they marry.' Music writer and broadcaster Matt Charlton believes Dua has found the perfect balance between her public and private persona. 'Some celebrities broadcast every minute of their lives on social media, but Dua's not like that, and she keeps enough of herself back,' he says. ‌ 'She retains an old-school aloofness while still being aware of her image and brand, which I think is a good place for her to be.' Prior to falling for Callum, who played Theseus Scamander in Fantastic Beasts, Dua dated French film director Romain Gavras, 43. She was seen with him at a BAFTA afterparty in February 2023, and they made their red carpet debut together at the Cannes Film Festival that May. But in December 2023, they reportedly called it quits, with a source saying Dua wanted to end it 'before things turned sour'. The song French Exit from her Radical Optimism album was thought to reference the split, with lines such as, 'It's not a broken heart if I don't break it, Goodbye doesn't hurt if I don't say it, And I really hope you'll understand it, Only way to go is a French exit.' ‌ Dua also briefly dated Paul Klein, frontman of the US band LANY, and she had an on-off romance with British chef and model Isaac Carew, making her Met Gala debut with him in May 2019. Scheduling conflicts are thought to have caused their break-up a few weeks later, and Dua was then linked with Gigi and Bella Hadid 's model and musician brother, Anwar, 25. ‌ After meeting him at a barbecue, the pair confirmed they were an item with a public kiss at the American Music Awards in November 2019, and Dua once said, 'I'm very comfortable in the relationship, more so than any others.' They spent part of 2020 isolating on Anwar's family farm in Pennsylvania, and describing life in lockdown, Dua said, 'It's been really great – easy and fun and chill. We've been making the most of this because we got all this extra time, that we weren't expecting, to just hang out.' She and Anwar even adopted a puppy together, Dexter, whom she called 'our tiny best friend', but after more than two years, they went their separate ways in late 2021. In a May 2022 interview, Dua revealed that the 'next chapter' of her life was about 'truly being good with being alone'. ‌ Speaking about single life on her At Your Service podcast, she added, 'This is the first year I've not been in a relationship for a very long time. It's been really great to just be alone and only think about myself and kind of be quite selfish.' She even took herself on a solo date in New York, saying, 'Some people on the internet were like, 'Oh, Dua went out for dinner on her own, blah blah, I do this all the time.' And I think that's amazing if you do it all the time. You must be so confident. But it was a big step for me. I was nervous – like, what am I gonna do? I don't want to be on my phone.' ‌ In an interview shortly before she got together with Callum, she reflected on the difficulties of meeting someone new. 'Dating, overall, is just a little confusing,' she said. 'It's either through friends of friends or people you trust where you can meet new people, because [dating] is not really so straightforward when you are a public person.' She found it especially tricky as her parents' strong marriage had always shaped her own perceptions of love. 'You have such high expectations,' she said in 2018. 'My mum married the first man she fell in love with – first boyfriend, first everything. It does kind of paint this ideal love story in your head.' ‌ Not surprisingly, Dua found herself enduring plenty of bad dates while navigating singledom, which played out through the candid lyrics of songs like Houdini and Training Season. But as John points out, those days are now long gone. 'I don't think she'll write another album that focuses on failed relationships when she doesn't have them in her life any more,' he says. 'Perhaps her next album will instead consist of 10 songs about how great love is. I'm sure Dua can make a happy album, but we'll have to wait and see.' Dua Lipa, OK! Collector's Edition Since first emerging on to the music scene a decade ago, Dua Lipa's sultry vocals and fearless stage presence have sealed her status as a true pop powerhouse As her sell-out Radical Optimism Tour arrives in the UK, this special edition of OK! delves into her incredible journey, from music-loving schoolgirl to Grammy Award-winning artist With the help of music industry experts, we take a look at Dua's career so far, revisit her greatest live shows and collaborations, and reveal the causes that matter most to her Click here to purchase your copy for £9.99.

Scottish lochs named UK's top two spots for a wild swim this summer

Two iconic locations are top of the list when it comes to wild swimming spots. Scotland has made a splash in a new study celebrating the UK's most picturesque wild swimming spots, claiming not just the top two spots, but several other entries in the top 12. The rankings, compiled by football ticket marketplace LiveFootballTickets, looked at the number of Instagram hashtags linked to each location. ‌ And at number one, with a staggering 623,000 hashtags, is the iconic Loch Lomond, widely recognised as a symbol of Scotland itself, Scottish Daily Express reports. ‌ Just 45 minutes from Glasgow, Loch Lomond is the largest body of freshwater in Great Britain by surface area, covering 71 square kilometres. Its shimmering waters are flanked by deep forests, cascading waterfalls and majestic mountains. It's no surprise it has inspired centuries of songs, poems and stories. In second place, and no stranger to fame, is Loch Ness, racking up 556,000 hashtags. While many flock to the loch hoping for a glimpse of the legendary Nessie, others are drawn by its tranquil beauty. Just half an hour from Inverness, Loch Ness remains one of the most iconic destinations in the Highlands. It is also the largest body of water in Great Britain by volume, containing 7,452 million cubic metres of water - more than all of the lakes in England and Wales combined. ‌ The list reveals that Scotland dominates the wild swimming scene, with multiple scenic spots featured throughout. Glen Etive claims sixth place with 55,500 hashtags. The remote Highland glen, known for its breathtaking scenery, famously appeared in the James Bond film Skyfall. Its River Etive winds into Loch Etive, offering a wild and cinematic spot for a refreshing dip. ‌ In joint tenth place is the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye, with 28,300 hashtags. These natural pools near Glenbrittle are renowned for their crystal-clear, and icy, waters. Though most visitors come for photos, many do brave a swim in the famously brisk pools. Loch Katrine, steeped in Scottish history and literary legend, rounds out the top 12 with 25,800 hashtags. A popular day-trip from Glasgow and Stirling, it's long been associated with figures such as Walter Scott and Rob Roy. Since 1859, it has also served as Glasgow's main drinking water reservoir. ‌ The top 12 wild swimming spots based on Instagram hashtags: Loch Lomond – 623,000 hashtags Loch Ness – 556,000 hashtags Pen-y-Fan, Brecon Beacons – 192,000 hashtags Bolton Abbey, Yorkshire – 93,300 hashtags Fairy Glen, Lake District – 61,400 hashtags Glen Etive – 55,500 hashtags Overbeck Bridge, Wastwater – 49,400 hashtags Symonds Yat, Wye Valley – 35,700 hashtags Eskdale, Lake District – 28,700 hashtags Fairy Pools, Skye – 28,300 hashtags Llyn Padarn, Snowdonia – 28,300 hashtags Loch Katrine – 25,800 hashtags Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! A spokesperson for LiveFootballTickets said: "With the UK's first heatwave for the summer expected to bring temperatures of above 30°C, people are bound to be looking for ways to escape the heat, so, how about a refreshing dip in cool water?" ‌ In a separate recent study, a spot in Scotland was also named the best place in the UK for wild swimming overall, thanks in part to its wealth of natural beauty and clean, cold waters. The west coast region of Argyll and Bute was singled out as a standout spot. The resort town of Oban in particular offers easy access to stunning swim locations like Ganavan Sands and the River Oude. Just a short ferry away, the Isle of Kerrera also boasts several inviting bays and coves. Fort William, in the heart of the Highlands, was highlighted too. Experts noted that the average water temperature in the area hovers around 12.57°C, which they described as 'optimal for swimming'.

He replied: "I can't talk about it," before being swiftly ushered away by his entourage. The Sun revealed in March that Aarron had been formerly offered the role and James Bond bosses were waiting for his decision. We also first revealed in 2022 that the Marvel actor had emerged as a surprise frontrunner. Aaron made a name for himself in 2010's Kick-Ass. He then landed the role of Quicksilver in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Eon Productions, which makes the spy thriller films, is on course to start shooting this year. A source said: 'Bond is Aaron's job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back. 'As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.' The next Bond movie had been delayed because of last year's Hollywood strikes. James Bond expert drops huge hint about new 007 actor after he starred in movie with huge A-list actress But insiders confirmed a script was now being worked on, with production scheduled to take place at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire. Aaron was in the running for the top job alongside actors including Oscar-winning Cillian Murphy, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill and James Norton. Speculation intensified in May when Aaron signed a deal with luxury watchmaker Omega - the official timepiece brand of the Bond franchise for three decades. Aaron, who is from High Wycombe, Bucks, secretly screen tested for Bond movie supremo Barbara Broccoli at Pinewood Studios in 2022. When asked earlier this year whether he would step into Bond's shoes, Aaron said: 'I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role. "I take it as a great compliment.' Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey was also questioned about the iconic role this week. Jonathan joined Scott Mills on Radio 2 to celebrate the release of the Jurassic World Rebirth film, which stars the actor. And they ended up discussing rumours that Jonathan is a contender to be the next James Bond. Scott said to the star: 'It's an obvious question, but I'm going to be honest with you, it's the one people are asking the most, so I'm going to ask it. Do you, or would you be, James Bond?' Jonathan playfully replied with: 'Scott, how dare you!' to which Scott clarified: 'It's not me, it's the listeners and there are thousands.' The actor managed to somehow sidestep the question, responding: 'I mean, that's an amazingly flattering ask. I could imagine you as James Bond, Scott.' And Scott was quick to pick up on the change of direction, saying: 'Well, swerved, because that's not true. But, I mean, we know you could do it, but you'd want to do it?' Jonathan seemed to be more open to replying, as he said: 'I don't...I am not sure... I don't know. I really, honestly, I mean... it would be hard to say no, but I know that it's going to be exciting whatever they do.' Leaving Scott to reply: 'Thank you for answering that, because it was the most popular question. And I'll be honest, I almost ran away from you a bit like you did with Steven Spielberg, before I asked, but I'm glad I did. Thank you very much.' 6 Aaron and Brad Pitt starred together in 2022's Bullet Train Credit: Rex Features 6 He then landed the role of Quicksilver in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Credit: Rex Features
