March Madness 2025: The Dos and Don'ts for filling out your NCAA Tournament bracket
March Madness is finally here and Mackenzie Salmon has tips to help you fill out your NCAA Tournament bracket.

The first day of the first round is over. And the March Madness continues today with the second day of the men's Division I basketball tournament.
While Michigan survived a scare from UC San Diego, but there were still two bona fide upsets in McNeese State's win over Clemson and in Drake's victory over Missouri.
The schedule resumes today at 12:15 p.m. when Mississippi State and Baylor meet in an 8-9 matchup.
That begins a schedule of final 16 NCAA tournament games for first round. The second round begins Saturday with eight games, including Michigan's game with Texas A&M at 5:15 p.m.
Here is your viewing guide for March Madness today, with Day 2 schedules and scores to complete the first round, plus times and TV channel information. And we still have a few upsets for your bracket.

JJ McCarthy was selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the 10th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but he wasn't able to play last season because of injury. Now, he is set to be the starting QB for the Vikings this upcoming season, and while there is a lot of hype surrounding him, there are also a lot of doubters. A big reason why people aren't sold on McCarthy is because his stats didn't light up the box score when he was at Michigan. Advertisement The Michigan football team has always had a run-first offense, and that was no different when JJ McCarthy was there. McCarthy didn't throw for over 3,000 yards in either of his full-time starting seasons, but that's because he didn't need to. He didn't have as many yards as a lot of other top QBs, but he also didn't throw the ball as much. A perfect example to illustrate McCarthy's efficiency is that he completed over 72% of his passes during his final season with the Wolverines. When Michigan needed him to throw the ball, he did. Still, people that just look at his yardage totals aren't sold. 'A lot of [the public doubt] just comes with the stigma of playing at Michigan and not throwing the ball a lot,' McCarthy said, according to an article from ESPN. 'But at the same time, it could be my frame. They don't see a 6-5, 240-[pound] guy, so how can you throw at 61 miles an hour at the combine? But at the end of the day, it's going to show up and the people that know, know.' One thing that JJ McCarthy is definitely not lacking is confidence. He has always known that he has the ability to be successful, and he has never worried about what other people think of him. He just performs and wins. Advertisement McCarthy is looking to prove a lot of people wrong this season as he gets ready for his first year in the NFL. A lot of good things have been said about him so far this offseason, and it sounds like McCarthy is in a good spot. 'It's been awesome,' McCarthy said, 'because they've really pushed the limits on just what I can handle, and that's what I asked for. I'd rather sweat in training and limit the bleeding on the battlefield when we get there.' A new QB era is about to begin in Minnesota. The Vikings selected JJ McCarthy because they thought that he had the potential to be their next franchise QB. Because of last year's injury, the wait has been long as fans are eager to see the first-round pick in action, and McCarthy is ready to show Minnesota that it got a good one. New culture has four-star TE Lincoln Watkins ready to play for Kentucky
Kentucky moved quickly and now has a four-star tight end in its 2026 recruiting class. Port Huron (Mich.) Northern tight end Lincoln Watkins announced his commitment to the Wildcats. Watkins is the eighth known commitment of the cycle for the Wildcats as the program looks to jumpstart its recruiting efforts. This wasn't always the school that was in the picture for the Michigan playmaker. Back on June 10 he opted to reset his recruitment and open things up to new schools. At that point, his recruitment was a battle between Florida and Nebraska. Advertisement But just a few days after that Kentucky swooped in and offered him a scholarship. Watkins actually received the first phone call from new tight ends coach Derek Shay. The coach relayed to Watkins that the team had him as the number one tight end on the board and would be thrilled to have him. Then on June 17 he popped up for a mid-week official visit in Lexington. Watkins told Rivals what he was hoping to see during that visit. 'What Kentucky's plans are for me in the proceeding future and if this is a place I can truly be developed into the player I want to be,' Watkins told Rivals. And now Kentucky is going to benefit from quickly moving into action after the Michigan native shook up his recruitment. The people at Kentucky and the environment on campus pushed things over the edge for Watkins. They made him feel like a huge priority too. Coach Mark Stoops sees Watkins as the type of player that can be thrown right into the action as a freshman. Advertisement 'Honestly, to be completely honest with you, what I'm most excited about is just the people here,' Watkins said. Coach Stoops and everyone made me feel so welcome and that's the main reason I picked them.' As a junior Watkins did a little bit of everything for Northern. He hauled in 39 catches for 668 yards, ran the ball for 245 yards and had 17 total touchdowns. For good measure, he chipped in 42 total tackles on defense. Watkins is just a good football player that you want to have on your team. He'll be a tight end in college and has the chance to excel in that role.
