Expo 2030 Riyadh registration dossier receives final BIE approval in Paris
PARIS — The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) General Assembly in Paris has granted final approval to Expo 2030 Riyadh's Registration Dossier, officially confirming Saudi Arabia as the host country for the global event.
During the ceremony on Tuesday, the BIE also handed over the World Expo flag to the Kingdom's delegation.
Led by Minister of State and Acting CEO of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), Eng. Ibrahim Al-Sultan, the Saudi delegation included Ambassador Fahd Al-Ruwaili and senior officials.
The dossier outlines Saudi Arabia's strategic vision to deliver a transformative World Expo aligned with its national goals and global aspirations.
'The approval of the Registration Dossier in record time highlights the Kingdom's leadership on the global stage and underscores the world's confidence in Saudi Arabia's vision and capabilities,' said Al-Sultan.
'It also reflects the professionalism of the teams involved and marks a significant milestone in our journey to deliver an exceptional and unprecedented edition of the World Expo, in line with Vision 2030.'
Saudi Arabia achieved the fastest completion and submission of a Registration Dossier in BIE history — nearly in half the time typically required — unlocking the next phase of formal preparations. This includes extending official invitations to participating nations via diplomatic channels.
Expo 2030 Riyadh, scheduled from October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031, will take place on a 6 million square meter site designed to host over 40 million visits.
With participation from more than 195 countries expected, the site will offer cutting-edge infrastructure, world-class hospitality, and immersive experiences for global audiences.
The approval reflects the Kingdom's readiness and strategic planning, backed by unwavering leadership support.

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia welcomed around 116 million domestic and foreign tourists in 2024, and this figure marks an increase of six percent compared to 2023, according to the Ministry of Tourism. RIYADH — The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has released a new report titled "Generative Artificial Intelligence: Promising Prospects for a Better Future," shedding light on the transformative impact of generative AI technologies and the substantial economic opportunities they present. The report emphasizes the acceleration of global investment and adoption of generative AI, a technology that enables machines to create content such as text, images, code, and simulations by learning patterns from vast datasets. Unlike traditional AI — which is generally limited to classification, prediction, and recommendations — generative AI is capable of complex and creative output across industries. Citing research from Deloitte, SDAIA notes that generative AI can reduce operational costs by 30% or more through task automation and productivity enhancement. A McKinsey survey of over 1,300 companies showed that human resources departments saw cost reductions between 10% and 37%, while supply chain functions recorded profit increases of over 6% in some cases. The report also references 2024 projections from IDC, which forecast that global spending on generative AI will surge to $202 billion (SR758.7 billion) by 2028. That figure is expected to represent 32% of total global AI spending, which is projected to reach $632 billion (SR2.4 trillion). Employee engagement rate in public sector reaches 83.4%: Saudi minister
RIYADH — Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Eng. Ahmed Al-Rajhi said that the Saudi employee engagement indicators for the year 2024 has achieved tangible positive results. "The employee engagement rate for public sector employees reached 83.4 percent, exceeding the set annual target of 76.5 percent. This reflects growing institutional awareness and the authorities' keenness to improve work environments and promote a culture of professional commitment," he said while addressing the annual ceremony of honoring government agencies that achieved the highest levels of employee engagement in 2024. The minister presented the Employee Engagement Award to nine government agencies during the ceremony, which was attended by several government officials and representatives of government agencies. In his speech, Al-Rajhi emphasized that the Employee Engagement Program embodies the interest and support of the wise leadership for the public sector. "This program reflects the ministry's commitment to strengthening the role of human capital as a fundamental pillar in the transition to a more efficient government work environment. The program contributes to consolidating a sense of belonging and initiative, raising the quality of services provided to beneficiaries, and enhancing performance efficiency," he said.
