
Customs officials seize ganja from passenger at Coimbatore airport
Officers of the Air Intelligence Unit of Customs have seized 5.25 kg of hydroponic weed (ganja), worth almost ₹5 crore, from Muhammad Fazil who arrived at Coimbatore International Airport on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from Bangkok.
The officers, based on intelligence inputs from DD, DG Arm Delhi, in coordination with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, intercepted the passenger, a resident of Kozhikode, who arrived at Coimbatore airport from Bangkok via Singapore by flight TR 540. The officers seized the ganja from his checked-in baggage. Further investigation is in progress under the NDPS ACT, 1986, read with the Customs Act, 1962, according to the Customs.

Man held with ganja in Maloya sent to jail
Chandigarh: A man arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle ganja into the city from Maloya was produced before a local court here Sunday. The court sent him to judicial custody. He has been identified by police as Dharma from EWS colony, Maloya. Dharma was carrying 500gm ganja when he saw a police team patrolling the area near his colony. He quickly turned around and tried to flee but police chased and caught him. The ganja was seized from him and he was arrested under the NDPS Act.

Two peddlers arrested with MD drugs worth over Rs 60L
Indore: Two habitual drug traffickers were arrested by Indore crime branch while attempting to supply MDMA drugs in the city. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a car near Rajkumar Sabzi Mandi on MR-4 Road and seized 57 grams of MD drugs, two mobile phones, and the vehicle. The estimated international value of the recovered narcotics is around Rs 60 lakh. The arrested accused have been identified as Imran Ajmeri, 27, a resident of Gandhi Gram, Khajrana, and Arif Ujjaini, 35, of Hina Colony, Khajrana. Both have a criminal background, with multiple cases already registered against them under the NDPS Act, as well as for brawls, loot, and excise violations. Imran confessed to being involved in around 8–10 criminal cases and working as a van driver. Arif also admitted to his involvement in eight previous offences. He also worked as a van driver. Police said that the duo used to procure MD drugs from other cities at cheaper rates. They were planning to circulate them within Indore. Following the interception, both were booked under section 8/22 of the NDPS Act at the Crime Branch police station. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the drugs and other individuals involved in the network. In another incident of drugs trafficking, two men were arrested by Kalu Kheda police in Ratlam. Acting on a tip-off, the police apprehended the suspects at Ranigaon Phanta while they were transporting the contraband on an unregistered motorcycle. Authorities recovered 15 grams of MDMA and the motorcycle with the total seizure estimated at Rs 2 lakh. SP Amit Kumar said that the accused were identified as Wasim Khan and Riyan Khan, both residents of Kotdi in Pratapgarh district, Rajasthan. The police registered a case under section 8/22 of the NDPS Act.

In separate instances, two employees at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International airport arrested for smuggling gold worth Rs 4.2 crore
Mumbai: Customs arrested two airport employees including the manager of a food court at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International airport Mumbai for smuggling around 5 kg of gold dust worth Rs 4.24 crore, in separate incidents. In the first incident the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Customs intercepted Mohammed Amir Doctor, a staffer of AI Airport Services Limited (AIASL) near the family washroom in front of the Immigration counter at the departure hall. As he was suspiciously moving the AIU officials detained and carried a search, resulting in recovery of 4 capsules purported to be gold dust. On interrogations, Doctor told officials that a transit passenger handed him over this contraband. Similarly another airport staffer (CDP employee) identified as Kushilal Yadav was also found loitering near the washroom at the immigration counter. The officials detained him and carried out a search resulting in recovery of 3,067 grams of gold dust worth Rs 1.39 crores. Customs officials placed both of them under arrest under Customs Act and intimated the airport authorities.
