Bachelor fan favourite announces her engagement to political activist after failing to find love on the show

Daily Mail24-04-2025

Bella Johnston has found love after striking out on reality TV.
The 29-year-old, who was a fan favourite on the 2022 season of The Bachelors, has announced her engagement to left wing political activist Harrison James.
The pair shared the happy news in an Instagram post, cuddling up and showing off Bella's diamond ring in a series of photo booth images.
'Fiancée' Harrison captioned the post, which was made last week, alongside a heart and ring emoji.
The couple had been holidaying in Europe when the proposal occurred, with photos showing them in Paris.
Bella was paired with Jed McIntosh on the dating show back in 2022 but the two did not make a final connection.
When applying for the show, the NSW-based self-described feminist said she had a few failed relationships and was single by choice.
'I am passionate, I am hilarious, I am full of energy and love making plans!' she said at he time.
'It would be amazing if I had a partner to do it with, but also not the end of the world if I don't' she continued.
'Also, I am an absolutely incredible cook. But I'm not into gender roles so he'd have to do all the washing up.'
The bubbly reality star is a cancer survivor having suffered from a rare, malignant paraganglioma which was discovered at age 21 after years of misdiagnosis.
She underwent 15 surgeries and radiotherapy due to a huge tumor entwined with her vagus nerve.
'It was wrapped around my jugular vein and vagus nerve. They grafted part of my nerve to my ear. I have my gag reflex in my ear' Bella told The Mirror.
'It's the most weird thing ever. I had a nasal gastric tube for a while and my original diagnosis was I'd only eat soft foods for the rest of my life.
She added: 'Doctors said I'd never eat a sandwich again. I love sandwiches so I thought 'nope'.
'Through a lot of trial and error and with a speech physiologist I now touch my chin to my shoulder.
'It closes my wind pipe and uses the left muscles that are strong to push the food down. I can't swallow face head on.'
Bella began getting symptoms at age 14, dropping to 43 kilos and being misdiagnosed with an eating disorder.
She even tried the 'cures' offered by cancer faker Belle Gibson before doctors finally discovered the tumour.

Romeo Beckham's ex Kim Turnbull delivers savage dig after split and family rift

Romeo Beckham's ex Kim Turnbull, who he split from earlier this year amid rumours of a rift in his family, has opened up about dealing with being in the spotlight Kim Turnbull has opened up about being in the spotlight after making headlines over her relationship with Romeo Beckham. Her latest comments come after it was revealed that the former couple had split up just weeks ago. It was announced earlier this month that Kim, 25, had separated from Romeo, 22, after seven months together. It was suggested that they were on good terms though, with a source telling the Mirror at the time: "They split a few weeks ago and it's all amicable and they are still friends." ‌ The news of their break-up came amid ongoing rumours of tension in his family. Kim's relationship with Romeo - who is the son of Victoria Beckham and David Beckham - was previously blamed for the alleged rift in recent months. ‌ Amid the rumours earlier this year, it was suggested that Kim had once been romantically linked to Romeo's brother Brooklyn Beckham, 26. It's previously been reported that in a now-deleted post, youngest brother Cruz Beckham, 20, said the pair "never dated" and Kim is since understood to have herself dismissed the suggestion in a statement. Kim has addressed dealing with the attention in an interview with the Sunday Times, published this week. The interview is said to have taken place just hours after the news of the DJ's split from model Romeo broke just a few weeks ago. Speaking about dealing with being in the spotlight, Kim suggested that it is expected. She continued: "There are situations that you find yourself in that present you with new aspects, but at the same time I think it has always been something that I've been around and seen, so I just take it day by day and try to focus on the positives." She added: "Sometimes it's difficult to block things out because a lot of the time there are things said that are not necessarily true or necessarily positive, and your instinctive reaction is to want to be like, no, that's not true!" Kim said she's however learned to try to "take it with a pinch of salt". Kim said: "It's definitely tough, whatever it is, when people are saying things about you that aren't necessarily true and, most importantly in my opinion, don't align with your character and your values." She said that despite sometimes wanting to, "you just can't" reply to every comment. ‌ The new article comes after Kim appeared to dismiss the suggestion that she had ever dated Brooklyn following the rumours. As reported at the time, she addressed speculation in a post on Instagram earlier this month. In the post, she wrote: "I've avoided speaking on this topic to prevent adding fuel to the fire, however it's come to a point where I feel the need to address it so I can move on. I will not continue to receive harassment or be embarrassed on the basis of lies, to fit a certain narrative." ‌ She then seemingly addressed the speculation that she once dated Brooklyn, who is Romeo's older brother. She said: "I have never been romantically involved in ANY capacity at ANY point with the person in question." Kim went on to tell fans: "Nothing between us has occurred further than a school friendship at age 16. I would like to remove myself from the ongoing conversation and set the record straight for the sake of everyone involved." TMZ had previously suggested that she once had a romantic connection to Brooklyn, but said it was "all water under the bridge". Amid rumours of a family rift, the outlet reported that sources said the issue was over Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz, 30, questioning whether Kim had "the right intentions" for dating his younger brother Romeo. When it was announced that Kim had split from Romeo, the Daily Mail reported that their relationship had "fizzled out". The outlet suggested that the break-up was "nothing to do" with her being blamed for the alleged family rift, with a source instead saying that Kim and Romeo were simply both "busy" with work and each did "lots of travelling".

Meghan Markle's eagle-eyed fans spot 'mortifying blunder' in Instagram post

Meghan Markle's latest Instagram post from her brand As Ever was questioned by fans after they pointed out a small blunder as Meghan thanked her followers for 'being here' Eagle-eyed fans have pointed out a surprising blunder in Meghan Markle's latest Instagram post from her brand As Ever, as she thanks her followers for their support. The picture is of a kitchen counter top with a small note which reads 'You're beautiful. Full stop' in handwriting. Meghan captioned the post: 'It's true. From our hearts to your homes: thank you for being here. You're the sweetest part of what we do!' The note is placed candidly on the table along with a rolling pin, two eggs, scattered flour and what is believed to be Meghan's left hand in the corner. ‌ However, fans believe the image may not have been taken in her home and may be a screen grab due to a small black and white cursor at the left-hand side of the screen. ‌ Followers took to social media to point out the blunder as one person said: 'Eagle eye right there', leading to many other comments. Another added: 'I didn't even notice that, well spotted'. The comments section has since been turned off on Instagram. The brand sells an array of products, including cookie mix and spreads. According to their website: 'As ever is more than a brand - it's a love language. Created by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, As ever welcomes you to a collection of products, each inspired by her long-lasting love of cooking, entertaining, and hostessing with ease. This curated collection has been crafted to elevate your everyday and inspire moments of joy.' The Instagram cursor blunder has drawn attention to other social media mishaps where Meghan came under fire. Fans pointed out a similar situation at the beginning of the year when Meghan made her long-awaited return to social media with a video of herself writing '2025' in the sand. ‌ It didn't take long for some viewers to point out a previous attempt in the sand and suggest that the video wasn't as candid as it looked, but rather took a few takes. One follower penned: 'Wonder how many it took to get the perfect shot?'. Meghan originally announced the brand earlier this year and shared its name with her fans and followers. She initially called the brand American Riviera Orchard, however, she swiftly changed the name for reasons she explained online. She said: 'Last year, I had thought, 'American Riviera', that sounds like such a great name… but it limited me to things that were just manufactured and grown in this area.' She added: 'As Ever essentially means as it's always been… If you've followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I've always loved cooking and crafting and gardening — this is what I do.'

Liberty Poole shared terrifying hot air balloon ordeal before fatal Brazil crash

Former Love Island star Liberty Poole shared her concerns about taking hot air balloon trips, revealing she was unsure about the level of safety she experienced when she previously took to the air Love Island star Liberty Poole warned of the dangers of hot air balloon rides amid the tragic deaths of at least eight when such a floating aircraft became engulfed in flames in Brasil this week. Reality star Liberty, 25, had taken to the air herself recently, but did not enjoy the trip. Taking to social media, including via TikTok and Instagram, the former Love Island contestant shared footage and insights from her experience. She captioned her video, writing: "Social media Vs reality: Hot Air Balloon edition." ‌ The clips showed her looking comfortable while up in the air, fanning herself and at ease. The footage then cut to a clip of the star screaming shouting out in fear alongside others as they returned to the ground with a thud and they were forced to assume the brace position. ‌ Liberty also wrote in a caption: "The unexpected... I ticked it off my bucket list but think it's going to be a one time only thing lol." In further footage, Liberty shared further insight into her experience where she outlined an apparent lack of safety for her trip. Warning that she did not have a relaxing time, she revealed: "I didn't realise when you actually get into a hot air balloon, it's not upright." Giving a detailed description of what she went through, she continued: "You lay on the floor to get in. So you're actually not strapped in. Nothing. You have this tiny bit of rope to hold. "And as the hot air balloon goes up, the basket just sits up. But as you come down, you have to go the other way." Her description was interspliced with footage of her going up in the air and returning to earth. She revealed: "So we were told to basically just hold on to this rope and sit and crouch down to land." ‌ Going on to suggest she may not have had the safest overall experience, she added: "However, I don't know if that landing was normal." Liberty's account of her experience has drawn attention from fans over the weekend as a hot air balloon in Brasil caught fire while in the air. Horrifying footage went viral showing the giant balloon becoming engulfed in flames before plunging to the ground along with the basket full of visitors. ‌ Reports revealed that at least eight people died and 13 others were injured in the horror incident. The crash took place in Santa Catarina on Saturday and it was confirmed 21 people were on board including the pilot. Jorginho Mello, the Governor of Santa Catarina, shared his shock over the incident in a video that was posted on X following the disaster. He said: "We are in mourning. A tragedy has happened. We will see how it unfolds, what happened, why it happened. But the important thing now is for the state structure to do what it can."
