Leeds to offer Dan James new deal after loaning Man Utd flop out in last Premier League campaign
LEEDS are offering Dan James a new two-year deal — but talks are still going on.
The former Manchester United winger, 27, has a season left on his contract at Elland Road.
The Welshman was loaned out - to Fulham - the last time Leeds were in the top flight.
But James was a star performer in 2024-25 as Leeds picked up 100 points to win the Championship on goal difference from Burnley.
Elland Road manager Daniel Farke' s position has still been under scrutiny.
But club chiefs are now expected to back the German - including with a hefty transfer budget.
The German will reportedly be handed up to £100million to spend this summer.
to come in between the sticks.
Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher was understood to be on the Whites' radar.
But Brentford won the race for the Irishman on a deal potentially worth £18million.

It follows concern over a dip in form for Leeds stopper Illan Meslier in recent months.
Meanwhile, Elland Road legend Kalvin Phillips is being linked with a return to his hometown club.
The former England midfielder, 29, has returned to parent club Manchester City following a mediocre campaign on loan with now-relegated Ipswich.
But for now he is recovering from Achilles surgery that could rule him out until August.

Man City 6 Al Ain 0: Cherki shows glimpse of future but they now face crunch Juventus tie to avoid horror knockout draw
ILKAY GUNDOGAN struck twice as Manchester City booked their place in the last 16 in emphatic fashion. However, Pep Guardiola 's men will now need to beat Juventus in Orlando on Thursday to avoid a likely last 16 meeting with old foes Real Madrid. 6 6 6 6 6 The Italian giants are top on goal difference going into the final Group G fixture – so only a win ensures top spot in the group for City. Former skipper Gundo is being linked with a move to Galatasaray, but put speculation to one side to spearhead this easy win. Erling Haaland, Claudio Echeverri, Oscar Bobb and new boy Rayan Cherki were also on the mark at the home of the Atlanta Falcons. And the victory – plus a safe passage into the knockout round – banks another £7 million into the Etihad coffers. For the second time in this tournament, City struck early against one of the outsiders – taking the lead in the eighth minute. Gundogan clipped a ball to the back post – aiming for Haaland – but the ball looped over keeper Khalid Eissa and dropped in. If the German meant it, then it was a stroke of genius but his cheeky grin as he celebrated suggested otherwise. Al Ain could have hit straight back as Nico Gonzalez lost possession - but Stefan Ortega had to make a full stretch save to deny Nassim Chadli. And it proved a costly miss as City edged further ahead when Argentine kid Claudio Echeverri curled home a 20 yard free kick. The January arrival from River Plate has been likened to Lionel Messi in his homeland – and it was the kind of goal the little maestro would have been happy with. Sean Dyche reveals what Pep Guardiola said to Steve Bruce about Lionel Messi that left him in tears Now it was a question of how many as Haaland dispossessed Park Yong Woo and went round the keeper but the angle was tight and he slid his effort wide of the far post. And a header from Josko Gvardiol from a Bernardo Silva corner beat the Al Ain keeper but bounced off the post. Finally, the Norwegian did get on the scoresheet after Manuel Akanji was bundled over in the box by Rami Rabia – and the ref gave a pen after a VAR check. Haaland surprisingly gave up penalty-taking duties in the FA Cup final – only for Omar Marmoush to miss – but he was back on them here and found the bottom corner. City knew only a victory by seven goals would put them above Juventus – their final group opponents in Orlando on Thursday. Top spot could be crucial with the runners up likely to be paired with Real Madrid in the last 16. But the Abu Dhabi side stood firm as both Matheus Nunes and Haaland went close. Gundogan did make it four when he ran onto a pass from Bernardo and dinked his effort over Eissa. And Bobb – who missed almost all of last season with injury - cut in from the right to send a low shot past the keeper. New signing from Lyon Cherki took a pass from Haaland before thumping home a low shot to complete the rout. However, the seventh goal – which would have seen them overtake Juve on goal difference – just eluded them. 6 Watch EVERY match of the Club World Cup 2025 live on DAZN

Ilkay Gundogan rues Manchester City's failure to score seventh against Al Ain
Ilkay Gundogan bemoaned Manchester City's failure to score seven after thrashing Abu Dhabi side Al Ain 6-0 at the Club World Cup. Veteran midfielder Gundogan struck twice as City secured their place in the last 16 with a comfortable victory in Atlanta but it was not enough to take them top of Group G. Advertisement Their performance lifted them level on points and goal difference with Juventus but it is the Italians who will have the slight edge – courtesy of goals scored – heading into Thursday's meeting between the two teams in Orlando. What a performance from Gundo! ✨ Your Man of the Match is @IlkayGuendogan 🩵 — Manchester City (@ManCity) June 23, 2025 City will now need to beat the Serie A outfit to ensure they avoid a clash with the winners of Real Madrid's group in the first knockout round. 'It felt like we needed the seventh at the end,' said Gundogan. 'We set that as our target at half-time but unfortunately we didn't start the second half good enough. We were a bit slow. 'It felt like it cost us at the end.' Advertisement Manager Pep Guardiola admitted Juve now hold an advantage over his side but played down its significance. Guardiola said: 'With one more goal we would have two options, but we only have one now. 'It would be better but the important thing is we are in the next phase. If you want to go through you have to face top, top teams so it does not matter. It is no big concern. Advertisement 'I like that we tried. We spoke at half-time of trying to score as many goals as possible. At the end we had chances to score more but that is fine. 'We played a little bit better than the first game, especially in the second half, but there are some things we have to improve.' Guardiola changed his entire XI following their 2-0 win over Wydad Casablanca on Wednesday. Gundogan opened the scoring with a cross-shot after eight minutes before teenager Claudio Echeverri struck from a free-kick and Erling Haaland tucked away a penalty. Advertisement Gundogan capped a fine move to grab the fourth after the break and substitutes Oscar Bobb and Rayan Cherki netted in the closing stages. Other near misses saw Josko Gvardiol head against the post and Phil Foden go close late on. Gundogan's performance, coming after reports linking him with Galatasaray, which were downplayed by Guardiola this week, was particularly eye-catching. Guardiola said of the 34-year-old: 'He's an exceptional player, exceptional in all senses. 'He's really, really good and made a fantastic goal. He reads what we have to do every game. I'm really pleased.' Advertisement
