"We know that the Three Peaks Challenge is meant to be done in under 24 hours but considering the awful weather and some traffic disruption along the way, we're really proud of ourselves for completing it in the time we did. "Our bodies are now in pieces!"
PCs Bowman, Daniel Bradley-Brophy, Lucy Sculthorpe and Sean Foster from Northamptonshire Police were joined by Sgt Grace Feavyour from Leicestershire. The titanic trio of mountains total a height of 3408m (11,182ft) over a distance of 23 miles (37km).The sun was beaming down on the team as it started its ascent of Ben Nevis in the Scottish Highlands on 13 June but the heavens opened an hour into the climb and continued throughout the challenge. There was a weather warning in force at Scafell Pike in Cumbria, where thunder crashed around them in the early hours of the following day. The challengers finished with their descent of the rain-soaked Yr Wyddfa, also known as Snowdon, in Wales, that afternoon. The funds raised will go to the National Foundation for Retired Service Animals and Hero Paws - Life after Service, both of which look after dogs who have served with various organisations including the police, prison service and Border Force.

Rowley sees 'green shoots of progress' at Salford

Salford Red Devils head coach Paul Rowley has said he can see "green shoots of progress" in his side in the midst of a tough 2025 Super League club have had a tumultuous time both on and off the field this term with financial problems regarding the club's ownership, unpaid wages and player departures overshadowing their side were defeated 38-6 against Hull FC on Sunday, putting in a spirited performance, and they remain bottom of the Super League table with just one win this season."Like everybody else I'm fed up, bored of the situation because everybody wants to win. We're here to compete. We could almost smell success coming into this season so it's been difficult," Rowley told BBC Radio Manchester."What I will say is that we've got some new additions in and I did feel that this week there were some green shoots of progress and actually in the first half I felt it."Despite the player exodus at the club this term - including the recent departure of talismanic centre Nene Macdonald - Rowley said that the team spirit in his camp remains high."You can't remove that amount of serious talent and replace it overnight. It's not easy to replace that sort of quality," Rowley added."We're OK, the mood is consistent. Ultimately we'll turn up tomorrow and everybody's in each other's company and they're all best mates so the mood is good." The Red Devils face a meeting with HMRC on Wednesday over a potential winding-up order as their financial struggles this, they fielded four debutants - Dan Russell, Cain Robb, Tom Whitehead and Kobe Rugless - against Hull FC, who all joined on loan last signing from Hunslet proved controversial, with the Championship side alleging, external that the transfer had taken place without their brushed away the criticism post-match on Sunday, leading to Hunslet standing by their earlier statement in a follow-up post on X, external on Monday."I think whoever communicated and wrote it has been miscommunicated from the people that are actually involved in it," Rowley said on Sunday, prior to Hunslet's second statement."I've certainly not targeted any players. That's been thrown at me on more than one occasion. I'll try and remain classy on that one and plead the fifth amendment."

Top Liverpool star is 'DISAPPOINTED' with club's contract offer and 'rejects' it - as fears mount that he could 'do a Trent Alexander-Arnold'

Liverpool risk losing Ibrahima Konate on a free next summer after the defender reportedly rejected their initial contract extension offer. Konate is said to be 'disappointed' with Liverpool's proposal because he wants a higher basic wage. The France international, 26, was a bastion of their Premier League title triumph under Arne Slot but only has a year remaining on his deal. There are fears that he could run down his contract and leave for free, as Trent Alexander-Arnold almost did before sporting director Richard Hughes squeezed a £10million fee out of Real Madrid. His camp are pushing for an improved basic wage after Liverpool structured their offer with too many performance-based bonuses, according to The Guardian. Liverpool are known to be stubborn negotiators but did get renewals over the line for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk last season, with Fenway Sports Group relenting on their habit of denying extensions for players over 30. Konate quickly established himself as a favourite under Slot and started all bar two of the Premier League games that he was eligible for. So impeding was his form for Jarell Quansah that the youngster has has opted to leave Anfield, agreeing a £35million move to Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend. Real Madrid are interested in Konate while Atletico Madrid have apparently made Andy Robertson one of their top targets, so Liverpool's defence may look drastically different in a year's time to what it did last season. Liverpool hope to re-open talks with Konate this summer but do not want to overpay. As Mail Sport reported last week, Liverpool have joined the race for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi. He is heading into the last deal of his deal at Selhurst Park and Palace's bargaining power is weaker than it was a year ago, when they turned down a £65m offer from Newcastle. Jarrad Branthwaite has also been considered by the Anfield hierarchy but signing a player from city rivals Everton would be tricky. Joe Gomez is also still at Liverpool and Arne Slot likes his leadership qualities though he missed a chunk of last season through injury. Liverpool are not pushing him towards the exit door.
