Sunrise star Edwina Bartholomew shares major relationship news after revealing shock living arrangement with husband

Daily Mail22-04-2025

Edwina Bartholomew has revealed how her focus in life will now be her relationship with her husband Neil Varcoe.
The Sunrise presenter, 41, told The Australian Women's Weekly in a video posted to social media on Tuesday that after her cancer diagnosis, she is keen to strengthen their bond.
'Now I'm just fully focused on family, on what we're creating here, on my husband, our marriage and the people closest to us' she said.
'So just determined to be surrounded by all those people that we love and determined to build the next chapter of our lives'.
Edwina had earlier made a shock confession about her unique living situation with Neil following her chronic myeloid leukemia diagnosis.
Earlier this month, Edwina confessed that they only see each other on the weekends and public holidays.
Neil's chronic fatigue syndrome diagnosis prompted him to leave Sydney and relocate to regional New South Wales - a move she claims 'genuinely healed him'.
'That was a decision we had to make for ourselves a few years ago because what we were doing clearly wasn't working,' she told AWW.
'He lives three hours away from us, and we see him on weekends and holidays and back and forth, but it's been the best thing, and probably the only way we would have survived as a family.'
The couple share two children, daughter Molly, five, and son Tom, three.
Last year, Edwina revealed to Stellar Magazine that she and Neil had entered a long-distance relationship after he moved out of the family home to become a farmer.
'My husband lives in the country with the dog and I live in the city with the kids,' she said.
'Each weekend, we traipse back and forth between the two or meet somewhere in the middle.'
It comes after Edwina shared an emotional cancer update at Marie Claire's International Women's Day luncheon in March.
The TV star got candid at the event about how CML - a type of blood and bone marrow cancer - had impacted her life.
'I was fortunate that I had a month where I knew about it before I told everyone. I had this experience without having to go through the trauma of chemotherapy,' Edwina began.
'[The cancer] was a gift, because it put things into perspective... I didn't have to go through a really intense experience of being 'in' cancer and absorbed by it.'
Edwina added she was extremely grateful her symptoms were manageable and she was able to continue with most of the activities in her daily life.
'I had a meeting with my specialist this week and I forgot to go get my blood test. So, it is not front of mind for me,' she said.
'I am so conscious of what a gift that is, that I have been able to continue on semi-normal... I haven't had to tell my young kids, because I still look the same. It's been a real re-think in slowing myself down.'
Edwina's diagnosis is a 'mild' form of leukaemia and can often be managed without having to undergo chemotheraphy.

MasterChef's Julie Goodwin shows off her drastically changed appearance as a throwback to her first time on The Project is revealed

Former MasterChef Australia star Julie Goodwin was the first ever guest on The Project. And the celebrity foodie returned on Sunday night as the panel show heads into its last week on the air, after it was axed by Channel 10 last week. During the segment, the 54-year-old grandmother featured in a series of clips from her appearance on the show in 2009. And Julie was hardly recognisable from her appearance today after she dropped a whopping 20kg. At one point during the segment, Julie paid tribute to the show revealing that she was an avid follower of the The Project. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Telling viewers that while much has changed in her life, The Project had stayed on the telly in her living room, 'ever since I was your first guest.' She continued that she liked, 'being able to tune into the day's events without going down into a sad spiral. 'The way you've done this for 16 years has been beautiful. So I'm thankful to have been such a tiny part of it.' It comes after Julie revealed she has lost even more weight following her dramatic 'accidental' transformation, which saw her drop a whopping 20kg almost a decade ago. Taking to Instagram, Julie shared a selfie of her looking thinner than ever following an appearance on Sunrise. Julie let her greys grow and flaunted a more au natural colour for her locks while showcasing her weight loss since winning the cooking show in 2009. The kitchen guru looked slim as she encouraged fans to try her chicken pie with potato bake topping. Despite her makeover, Julie still donned her signature wide-frame glasses in the post, while wearing a black and white striped shirt. Back in 2016, Goodwin revealed that her dramatic weight loss had nothing to do with dieting and was certainly no cause for celebration. 'It's not that I've gone on some stupid, sad diet and dropped a whole heap of weight in a hurry. 'It's not anything like that,' she told Women's Weekly at the time. 'I am running a business and running around like a mad thing, and sometimes I forget to eat, none of which is healthy.' Julie reprised her MasterChef appearance in 2012 for the MasterChef All Stars series. She went on to appea on Ten's I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! in 2015. More recently, Julie appeared on the 2024 season of Channel Seven hit show Dancing with the Stars.

Art Attack star looks completely unrecognisable after huge career change

Art Attack's Neil Buchanan became a household name when he began hosting the popular children's TV show in 1990, but he looks very different nowadays - 18 years since the show was axed Neil Buchanan, famed for his stint on CITV's Art Attack, is hardly recognisable in recent photos. The artist became a household name 17 years ago when he started presenting Art Attack, a children's TV programme that aired from 1990 to 2007. ‌ The much-loved show taught kids how to create art pieces and provided tips for home creativity. Art Attack enjoyed a remarkable run of 19 series, including six Christmas specials and various other shorts and specials. ‌ ITV sadly declared its cancellation in July 2007, but reruns continued until 30 May 2011. Now aged 68, Neil went on to present shows like Finders Keepers, Animal Crazy, and It's a Mystery. However, he soon left the television world to concentrate on his music career. Neil, originally from Aintree, Liverpool, was part of a heavy metal band named Marseille, which was established in 1976. The band released four albums and six singles during their time together, even touring America and performing alongside Judas Priest, Nazareth and Whitesnake. Marseille made a comeback in 2009 with a performance at The Cavern Club in Liverpool. However, lead singer Nigel Roberts announced in 2017 that Neil had left the band due to his consultancy work for children's television. Neil remains active in the art world and has his own website showcasing his art collections and photography. Fans can snap up fine art prints from the erstwhile TV sensation online. The former star's artwork has been a hot topic for ages, and in 2020, he had to put an end to whispers claiming that he was the mysterious street artist Banksy. ‌ His website made it clear with a statement: "Neil Buchanan ISN'T Banksy. We have been inundated with enquiries over the weekend regarding the current social media story. Unfortunately this website does not have the infrastructure to answer all these enquiries individually, however we can confirm that there is no truth in the rumour whatsoever." The message went on to say: "Neil spent Lockdown with vulnerable members of his family and is now preparing to launch his new art collection in 2021. Thank you and please stay safe." Rumours about Art Attack's grand return to our screens in 2025 have been doing the rounds, though nothing official has been confirmed. The rumour mill even churned out tales of comedian Romesh Ranganathan taking the helm, which he firmly shot down during a chat on The One Show in September. He clarified: "Thank you for asking me that, I'm not. I'm not bringing back Art Attack, what I have done though is been subjected to terrible levels of online abuse," affirming further, "I just want to say to the camera, I am not doing Art Attack. I'm not replacing Neil Buchanan, I respect what he did. I would never step on his legacy in that way! Please stop at'ing me, alright."
