Ashghal celebrates graduation of 163 staff, engineers in training programs

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) celebrated the graduation of the third batch of its employees who completed the Authority's training programmes, in the presence of Ashghal President HE Engineer Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Meer and a number of senior officials in the authority.
The ceremony witnessed the graduation of 163 employees and engineers from accredited training programmes, organised by the Human Resources Department, with the aim of developing and preparing national cadres.
These programmes include:
Project Management Development Programme (PMDP), designed to prepare newly graduated Qatari engineers and develop their professional capabilities.
Graduate Development Programme (GDP), directed at non-engineer fresh graduates to enable them to perform their job roles efficiently.
Administrative Development Programme (ADP), which is dedicated to developing employees who hold a high school degree and diploma in all supporting administrative fields.
Ashghal stressed its keenness to prepare and provide various training programmes and projects in line with various occupational levels, ensuring sustainable professional development and employee's career advancement since joining the authority.
The duration of these programmes ranges from 12 to 36 months, as they are designed to meet practical needs and enhance the technical, administrative, and behavioural skills required in the work environment within the Authority.
Engineer Al Meer expressed his pride in graduating this distinguished group of employees, noting that developing the human cadre constitutes the cornerstone of achieving the Authority's ambitions in the fields of infrastructure and engineering
He said, 'We pay great attention to training and developing our employees and engineers, as we believe that investing in people is the basis of success, and we seek, through various training programmes, to enable Qatari cadres and increase their efficiency in a way that reflects positively on their performance.'
For his part, Rashid Al Hajri, manager of Human Resources Department at Ashghal, said: 'We are proud of the achievements of graduates of the training programmes. These programmes are designed to meet the actual needs of various jobs in the Authority, which include technical, administrative and behavioural aspects.
'We believe in the importance of continuous learning as a way of developing national competencies and achieving the Authority's objectives in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy 2024 – 2030.'
Ghanem Al Kaabi, head Of Training and Organi ational Development Section at Ashghal, said: 'The Authority is proud of graduating a distinguished Qatari cadre, which stems from its belief in the importance of employees' training, development and enablement. Ashghal was keen to design and provide comprehensive training programmes which takes into account different occupational levels with the aim of supporting employees' career development and enabling to achieve career advancement.
During the ceremony, Engineer Al Meer honoured a number of partner entities who contributed to supporting training programmes, in addition to honouring the graduates.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, employees who won the Employee of theYear 2024 were also honoured, as this initiative comes in appreciation of the efforts made during the past year for all affairs and departments of the Authority.

The visit was part of IGTD's ongoing initiative to strengthen international trade linkages and boost Indian exports to the Gulf region. The Indian delegation comprised representatives from 11 companies across diverse sectors, including spices, cereals, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, ready-to-eat foods, frozen products, and confectionery. The visit served as a vital platform for exploring mutual trade interests, promoting collaboration between Indian exporters and Qatari importers, and identifying potential opportunities for joint ventures and investments. A key highlight of the visit was a B2B networking event organized in collaboration with the Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC), Qatar. Held with the participation of leading hypermarkets, supermarkets, and food and agro businesses in Qatar, the event enabled Indian exporters to directly engage with potential buyers and distributors. The interactions provided a valuable opportunity to showcase product offerings and explore distribution and supply chain collaborations. In addition to the networking event, the delegation held focused meetings with major retail chains and key business entities in Qatar. These discussions aimed at establishing direct commercial linkages and expanding the footprint of Indian products in the Qatari retail market. A significant engagement during the visit was the meeting with board members of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The discussions centered around enhancing cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, processed foods, and spices. A presentation by Invest Qatar on the investment landscape and sectoral growth opportunities in Qatar offered valuable insights to the Indian delegation. Representatives from the banking sector and other key industries also participated in the meeting, reflecting the multi-sectoral interest in strengthening bilateral economic ties. The economic relationship between India and Qatar continues to grow robustly. Bilateral trade between the two countries reached $14.14 billion in FY 2024–25, with India's exports to Qatar amounting to $1.68 billion and imports from Qatar totaling $12.46 billion. These figures underscore the deepening economic interdependence between the two nations. The IGTD EXIM Chamber of Commerce, a trade promotion body headquartered in India, plays a pivotal role in connecting Indian businesses with international markets. Through trade missions, sector-specific collaborations, and business development initiatives, the chamber facilitates greater global market access for Indian exporters. The successful visit of the IGTD EXIM Chamber delegation marks another step forward in the deepening of commercial ties between India and Qatar. It aligns with both countries' shared vision of diversifying their economies and expanding cooperation across strategic sectors.

St Petersburg: The State of Qatar participated in the 28th St Petersburg International Economic Forum, which took place in Russia over four days, with the participation of several heads of government, senior officials, and experts from around the world. The State of Qatar's official delegation was led byMinister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs HE Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed and representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Qatar Investment Authority, the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (Invest Qatar), and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Qatari delegation highlighted the strength of Qatar's economy and its leading position both regionally and internationally. They also showcased the country's attractive investment environment for global businesspeople and investors, presenting key incentives, advantages, and initiatives launched to support the private sector and enhance the competitiveness and diversification of Qatar's economy in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. The Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairsآparticipated in the forum's plenary session, attended by President of the Russian Federation HE Vladimir Putin, along with a number of prominent political and economic figures and decision-makers from around the world. Dr Al Sayed also took part in a high-level discussion session on searching for new engines of growth: redesigning the global financial and trade framework. During his remarks in the session, he highlighted the State of Qatar's role in promoting innovation and research as key pillars for sustainable economic growth. Dr Al Sayed pointed to the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Strategy 2030, which aims to bring about a qualitative transformation by enhancing institutional infrastructure and setting national priorities in areas such as food security, health, energy, technology, and logistics. He said that Qatar is encouraging both the public and private sectors to adopt advanced technological solutions that enhance efficiency and competitiveness and support entrepreneurship, particularly in priority sectors. He also deemed the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as a successful regional integration model, noting its achievements in unifying economic systems and policies, and in strengthening joint infrastructure and services. His Excellency added that the GCC is steadily progressing toward full economic integration, further solidifying its position as a global financial and investment hub. Dr Al Sayed also pointed out that the GDP of GCC countries has reached approximately USD 2.2 trillion, placing the bloc 9th globally. Furthermore, GCC financial markets rank 7th worldwide in terms of market capitalization, representing 4.3 percent of total global markets. In 2024, the non-oil sector contributed 75.9 percent of the region's GDP. He also highlighted Qatar's success in implementing a digital economy, driven by its advanced infrastructure and adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, positioning the country at the forefront of the global shift toward a knowledge-based economy. On the sidelines of the forum, the Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairsآheld separate meetings with Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture HE Maxim Markovich and Chairman of VTB Ban Andrei Kostin. The meetings explored prospects for cooperation across various sectors and highlighted Qatar's attractiveness in terms of the incentives, legislation, and the promising opportunities it offers to encourage entrepreneurs and business leaders to investment. He also toured the accompanying exhibition, visiting the pavilion of the Kingdom of Bahrain - this year's guest of honour - along with other participating entities. He was briefed on the latest services and innovations present in sectors such as industry, financial services and insurance, information technology, healthcare, education and science, business consulting, telecommunications, logistics and transport, real estate, hospitality and tourism, and metals and mining.

Qatar Chamber was represented at the event by Eng. Ali bin Abdullatif Al-Misnad, Board Member of Qatar Chamber and Chairman of the Qatari side of the Qatari-Russian Joint Business Council. Al-Misnad also called on Russian investors to explore Qatar's attractive investment climate and the numerous opportunities available in the country.
