Wordle hints today for #1,412: Clues and answer for Thursday, May 1

Yahoo01-05-2025

Hey, there! We hope you've had a terrific week so far. As always, there's a new round of Wordle to enjoy. In case you need some help to figure out the latest mystery word, here's our daily Wordle guide with some hints and the answer for Thursday's puzzle (#1,412).
It may be that you're a Wordle newcomer and you're not completely sure how to play the game. We're here to help with that too.
Wordle is a deceptively simple daily word game that first emerged in 2021. The gist is that there is one five-letter word to deduce every day by process of elimination. The daily word is the same for everyone.
Wordle blew up in popularity in late 2021 after creator Josh Wardle made it easy for players to share an emoji-based grid with their friends and followers that detailed how they fared each day. The game's success spurred dozens of clones across a swathe of categories and formats.
The New York Times purchased Wordle in early 2022 for an undisclosed sum. The publication said that players collectively played Wordle 5.3 billion times in 2024. So, it's little surprise that Wordle is one of the best online games and puzzles you can play daily.
To start playing Wordle, you simply need to enter one five-letter word. The game will tell you how close you are to that day's secret word by highlighting letters that are in the correct position in green. Letters that appear in the word but aren't in the right spot will be highlighted in yellow. If you guess any letters that are not in the secret word, the game will gray those out on the virtual keyboard.
You'll only have six guesses to find each day's word, though you still can use grayed-out letters to help narrow things down. It's also worth remembering that letters can appear in the secret word more than once.
Wordle is free to play on the NYT's website and apps, as well as on Meta Quest headsets. The game refreshes at midnight local time. If you log into a New York Times account, you can track your stats, including the all-important win streak.
If you have a NYT subscription that includes full access to the publication's games, you don't have to stop after a single round of Wordle. You'll have access to an archive of more than 1,400 previous Wordle games. So if you're a relative newcomer, you'll be able to go back and catch up on previous editions.
In addition, paid NYT Games members have access to a tool called the Wordle Bot. This can tell you how well you performed at each day's game.
Before today's Wordle hints, here are the answers to recent puzzles that you may have missed:
Yesterday's Wordle answer for Wednesday, April 30 — IDLER
Tuesday, April 29 — BLISS
Monday, April 28 — DUMMY
Sunday, April 27 — WEEDY
Saturday, April 26 — CLASH
Every day, we'll try to make Wordle a little easier for you. First, we'll offer a hint that describes the meaning of the word or how it might be used in a phrase or sentence. We'll also tell you if there are any double (or even triple) letters in the word.
In case you still haven't quite figured it out by that point, we'll then provide the first letter of the word. Those who are still stumped after that can continue on to find out the answer for today's Wordle.
This should go without saying, but make sure to scroll slowly. Spoilers are ahead.
Here is a hint for today's Wordle answer:

NYT ‘Connections' Hints And Answers For Sunday, June 22nd

Hints, clues and answers for today's Connections are here. Looking for Saturday's NYT Connections hints, clues and answers instead? You can find them here: I'm a little late to this Connections guide. My apologies. It was my birthday this weekend and I guess I was just too distracted by this fact – either that, or I'm just so old now that my memory is leaving me – but I absolutely spaced publishing this when I normally do. But I'm here now to help you with this tricky puzzle, so let's dive right in! How To Play Connections Connections is the second-most popular NYT Games puzzle game outside of the main crossword itself, and an extremely fun, free offering that will get your brain moving every day. Play it right here. The goal is to take a group of 16 words and find links between four pairs of four of them. They could be specific categories of terms, or they could be little world puzzles where words may come before or after them you need to figure out. And they get more complicated from there. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder There is only one set of right answers for this, and you only get a certain number of tries so you can't just spam around until you find something. There are difficulty tiers coded by color, which will usually go from yellow, blue/green to purple as difficulty increases, so know that going in and when you start linking them together. You pick the four words you think are linked and either you will get a solve and a lit up row that shows you how you were connected. If you're close, it will tell you that you're one away. Again, four mistakes you lose, but if you want to know the answers without failing, either come here, or delete your web cookies and try again. If you want to play more puzzles, you can get an NYT Games subscription to access the full archives of all past puzzles. What Are Today's Connections Hints? These are the hints that are laid out on the puzzle board itself, but after that, we will get into spoiler territory with some hints and eventually the answers. Today's Sunday Connections What Are Today's Connections Groups? Alright, the full spoilers follow here as we get into what the groups are today: What Are Today's Connections Answers? The full-on answers are below for each group, finally inserting the four words in each category. Spoilers follow if you do not want to get this far. The Connections answers are: Today's Connections answers The tricky word in this batch was WIRE which I plugged in first with ENTOURAGE, EUPHORIA, INSECURE and SUCCESSION – all HBO shows. Well, I was right about the HBO shows, but wrong about WIRE (despite The Wire being one of the greatest shows ever made). It was actually INSECURE, the one show in this list I'm not as familiar with. I realized WIRE could go with BULLETIN and then put those with FLASH and REPORT and that worked for yellow. When I saw LIFE, LIBERTY and PURSUIT and I realized they all paired nicely with HAPPINESS. Once I'd gotten the last HBO show I plugged in the remaining four, despite not knowing how they connected. But they really all do mean 'left' in one form or another. Tricky one today!
