Pat McAfee vs. John Mellencamp feud escalates: 'Shut the [expletive] up'
Well, you had to know this was going to happen.
Pat McAfee angered one John Cougar Mellencamp, with the former Colts punter spouting a NSFW speech at Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. McAfee pulled a WWE-like promo, shouting at New York Knicks fans like Spike Lee and Ben Stiller: "Let's send these sons of [expletive] back to New York with their ears ringing! Let's turn this [expletive] up."

Mellencamp was not a fan. He posted on X (formerly Twitter) a long response in which he said: "I was embarrassed when somebody, under whose direction I don't know, called out some of the people who had made the trip from New York to support their team — and in turn, support our team. The audience booed these people. I'd say that was not Hoosier Hospitality."
What do you think happened next? After tweeting, "I am 'somebody,'" McAfee took to the ESPN airwaves on Friday and had this to say (WARNING: NSFW LANGUAGE AHEAD):
"He puts this thing out there, didn't say my name. John, shut the [expletive up]. Calls me 'somebody.' ... You tried to think you were gonna bury me? I don't think so, John."
He went on to say that they might be in the same place and added, "I don't want any of your [expletive], OK? I don't like you. I know your name, and I don't like you."

Whew. We await word from Mellencamp, but maybe this is the end of it for now.

T.J. McConnell's mom told ESPN to stop recording him after NBA Finals loss
In terms of sports heartbreak, it doesn't get any worse than losing Game 7 of a championship series. Unfortunately for the Indiana Pacers, who already had to deal with Tyrese Haliburton's devastating Achilles injury, that's exactly what they experienced after falling short at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals on Sunday night. Advertisement One player who seemed to take the Pacers' defeat extra hard was backup point guard T.J. McConnell. The veteran floor general laid his heart out on the line all postseason. He made every hustle play. He stole so many inbounds passes. He seemingly made every shot he took every time he was on the floor. And McConnell was especially effective against the Thunder in one of the best Finals series we've ever seen. Ultimately, McConnell's and the Pacers' efforts weren't enough to get that fateful 16th playoff win, and they fell short. That's sports. Heck, that's life, sometimes. As a clearly dejected McConnell walked off the court, though, an ESPN camera followed him all the way into the tunnel, where his mother, Shelly, quickly ran over to embrace him. While McConnell's mother comforted her child after the toughest loss of his entire basketball career, the ESPN camera lingered on the scene. This is where she drew a line for her son by asking the cameraperson to stop recording and go away. What a powerful scene: In terms of ESPN's general all-around bungling of its NBA coverage this postseason, this sequence with McConnell and his mother probably lands lower on the list of screw-ups. McConnell's mother was more being a loving mother than the person handling the ESPN camera being outright tasteless. Nonetheless, they did linger a little too long while a player was trying to be comforted by their parents in a raw moment, and Shelly McConnell responded accordingly. McMenamin: Lakers remain 'intrigued by' Walker Kessler
The Los Angeles Lakers have needed help at the center position for quite some time, and it seems as if they have a few big men at or near the top of their wish list right now. One big man who they were reportedly interested in prior to February's trade deadline is Walker Kessler. Kessler, who will turn 24 years of age in late July, is part of a young core the Utah Jazz have been trying to assemble. He's an outstanding shot-blocker and rebounder, and while he isn't an offensive threat, he can convert lob passes into easy baskets. Advertisement He was apparently not available via trade prior to the trade deadline. However, a report recently surfaced that the Jazz will be open to hearing offers for him this summer. ESPN's Dave McMenamin said during an interview with ESPN 700 that the Lakers are "intrigued by" Kessler and that he is on their radar. 'The only thing on that front…is that Walker Kessler remains a name the Lakers are intrigued by. Whether that will lead to any sort of deal, obviously last year, the asking price was too steep and, obviously, the Lakers ended up pivoting those assets that they were considering moving to the Jazz to get Kessler in order to do the Luka [Doncic] trade. That came off the table after the Luka trade. If they do revisit it, that remains a player that the Lakers feel could fit the void that they have at center. I'm not reporting anything's moving towards [a deal] or picking up steam or anything like that, but Kessler remains on the Lakers radar.' Kessler averaged 11.1 points, 12.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocks a game this season. He will make just $4.9 million next season, so he may not cost a lot in terms of players to match his salary, but one has to expect the Jazz to demand lots of draft compensation for him. The Lakers only have their 2031 first-round draft pick and two second-round picks to offer in a trade, although they can also offer multiple first-round pick swaps.
