Cool temperatures continue Saturday, warmer weather possible Sunday
It will be cold starting Sunday, but it will be brighter. Warmer temperatures will close out the weekend, with highs in the upper 60s. Marks will continue to climb again on Monday afternoon. Temperatures are in the 50s and will drop to the 40s. Make sure to take a jacket with you as you head out the door this evening. We will turn colder overnight; temperatures will fall around the 40-degree mark!

Much warmer air is expected by Tuesday, with highs jumping into the 80s through Thursday. Rain chances will return Thursday into Friday with the chance for storms.

Denver metro area 10-week stormwater repair project begins: What drivers need to know
Starting Monday, drivers in part of the Denver metro area may notice some changes to their usual route as the city begins a major stormwater repair project. For the next 10 weeks, Federal Boulevard just south of Belleview Avenue in Littleton will be fully closed while crews work to replace aging infrastructure beneath the roadway. The project is part of a larger effort by the City of Littleton to modernize its stormwater system, which includes several key culvert replacements. A recent citywide survey revealed that many components of the system are nearing the end of their lifespan, and some date back to the 1970s. CBS David Gilbert with the City of Littleton says the repairs are essential to keeping Littleton's stormwater system functioning safely and efficiently. "This work is necessary to make sure we can remove stormwater and get it to where it needs to go," Gilbert explained. "We're replacing the old metal pipe with something far more durable, and we're doing it as quickly as possible." The project includes removing approximately 182 feet of deteriorating corrugated metal pipe and replacing it with 36-inch reinforced concrete pipe. Crews will also replace one concrete junction box, modify two others, and install more than 250 feet of cured-in-place pipe lining. Altogether, the project is expected to improve the longevity and reliability of the stormwater system for years to come. To complete the work, full excavation of the roadway is required, which means a complete closure of Federal Boulevard just south of Belleview Avenue. While the city does not anticipate major traffic impacts, since it's not one of Littleton's highest-traffic areas, detour routes will be clearly marked. Local access to nearby businesses like Partner Colorado Credit Union and Foushee SalonSpa will be maintained. "We know it's a hassle," Gilbert said. "But we appreciate everyone's patience. These repairs are key to keeping Littleton's infrastructure safe and strong for the future." Construction is set to begin June 23, 2025, and wrap up by late summer, depending on weather and work conditions.

UK weather: 'Fresher' conditions for much of country after hottest day of year so far
Much of the UK had cooler temperatures on Sunday with "fresher" conditions - apart from the South East - after thunderstorms swept through parts of the country overnight. A yellow thunderstorm warning issued by the Met Office lasted until 3am for areas including northern England and southeast Scotland. Some parts had up to 25mm of rainfall in one hour, the weather agency said. Berwick-upon-Tweed in Northumberland saw 31.1mm overnight and was among the locations that saw the wettest conditions. See the weather forecast in your area It comes after the UK had the hottest day of the year so far, with 33.2C (91.7F) recorded in Charlwood, Surrey, on Saturday. Scores of rail passengers were evacuated after some services were halted following a fault on a train. Some parts of the country have experienced a heatwave over the past few days but temperatures are now closer to average for the time of year. However, Met Office meteorologist Marco Petagna said temperatures could hit 27C or 28C in the South East on England on Sunday. He added: "Elsewhere, there's a fresher feel, quite breezy as well, so most places, high teens, low 20s for temperatures, and it stays quite showery tonight. "Even the South East could get a few showers coming in from the west, so a mixture really of clear spells and showers tonight. "It could turn a bit chilly in Scotland, down to 3 or 4 degrees in some rural spots, but for most places, temperatures, certainly towns and cities, generally holding up in double figures, but a fresher feel compared to what we've had recent nights." What's the forecast for Monday? The South East will see the most sunshine and highs of up to 25C on Monday, Mr Petagna said. In the other regions, temperatures will be around the high teens and low 20s, which is "near-average" for the time of year, he added. Conditions look "changeable" into next week, with "most areas" having rain at times, the forecaster said. "It does become very warm again in the South East around the middle of the week, so we could see high 20s again around Tuesday, Wednesday in the South East. "But at the same time as that heat builds again briefly in the south and South East, we could see further thundery downpours for a time as well," he said. What is a heatwave? An official heatwave is recorded when areas reach a certain temperature for three consecutive days, with thresholds varying from 25C to 28C in different parts of the UK.

Slightly cooler temperatures for the Denver metro area Sunday ahead of a cold front
Relief from the heat is on the way. A cold front arrives Sunday night into Monday, bringing temperatures down into the upper 70s and low 80s to start the work week. The drop in temperature may be the best way to start the work week! CBS Before the cold front arrives, however, temperatures will climb into the low 90s Sunday. There is a marginal chance for severe storms in the far southeast corner of the state. The rest of the state remains dry, and fire danger is high across the state, with a Red Flag Warning in effect in the high country and on the western slope until 10 p.m. Sunday. CBS We will also see the chance for afternoon rain and thunderstorms, which will be a welcome sight. The cooler weather sticks around for the week with a daily chance of showers and thunderstorms until Thursday, when we begin to warm back up and dry out.
