PUNE: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) started a parallel investigation into the fake call centre case involving large-scale financial transactions through cryptocurrencies and online gift cards.
An ED team took copies of the FIR and investigation documents from the crime branch officials, who are probing the case. A senior officer with the crime branch told TOI, "The ED has taken all the necessary documents, and we have also shared some details of the case with the Intelligence Bureau (IB) as the case involves large-scale financial transactions within and outside India."
Pune city police raided an illegal call centre facility in Kharadi on the night of May 23 and 24.
The police team found that the executives of the call centre were threatening and extorting millions of dollars from US citizens.
The call centre executives were threatening the US citizens with digital arrest in cases of narcotics or other fraud by posing as various US law enforcement officials. During the raid, police found 123 persons, including 12 women, in the facility.
On May 24, police arrested Sarjitsingh Girawatsingh Shekhawat (26), Abhishekh Ajaykumar Pande (29), Shrimay Paresh Shah (31), Laxman Amarsingh Shekhawat (28), and Aron Arumugan Christian (29), all residents of Kharadi.

However, they are natives of Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan and Ahmedabad in Gujarat. These men were operating the call centre.
A search for three men, including the two prime suspects in the case, is ongoing. All the 118 call centre executives have been made accused in the case. "Since there were large-scale financial transactions as the call centre was extorting US Dollars 30,000 to US Dollars 40,000 per day, ED has started the probe," said a senior officer.
A senior officer told TOI, "We have also recovered pen drives and other electronic gadgets from the residences of the five suspects. We have also obtained details of some bank accounts, and we will study the money trail in the case."
The call centre was in operation since July 2024, and the agreement to run the call centre from Pune from the hired premises was signed and executed in Jaipur in Rajasthan, police said.
The call centre was sourcing the data of US citizens. A senior officer told TOI, "We suspect that some people in the US were selling data to the call centre using the Darkweb to avoid any monitoring by the govt agencies, and the prime suspects used to pay to procure the data."
"We have also seized the written scripts which were given to the call centre executives," police said.

ED raids Himachal assistant drug controller, linked persons in PMLA probe
The enforcement directorate (ED) on Sunday conducted searches against a Himachal Pradesh-based assistant drug controller (ADC), his family members and some others as part of a money laundering investigation linked to charges of bribery and 'political patronage', official sources said. The officer or his legal representatives could not be contacted immediately for a comment on the charges made by the ED.f (File) The action has been taken against Nishant Sareen, currently posted as ADC Dharamshala, his father-in-law Ramesh Kumar Gupta and an alleged associate Komal Khanna apart from some others, they said. Five residential and commercial premises in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab were searched. The probe relates to 'misuse' of official position by the officer when he was earlier posted as ADC in Baddi (Solan district) as well as during his current tenure, ED sources said. The central agency, according to the sources, is also investigating the alleged generation of proceeds of crime in this case apart from charges of 'political patronage and complaints of extortion and bribe' against Sareen. The officer or his legal representatives could not be contacted immediately for a comment on the charges made by the ED. The office of the drug controller is part of the directorate of health safety and regulation of the HP government. The money laundering case filed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) stems from an August, 2019 FIR registered by the state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau (SV&ACB) of Himachal Pradesh Police against Sareen while he was posted as ADC in Baddi. The SV&ACB arrested him in September, 2019, and later chargesheeted him along with Khanna. Sareen was released on bail in October that year and was posted as ADC, Dharamshala, in 2024, the sources said. Sareen, during the Himachal Police investigation, faced charges of receiving bribe from pharmaceutical companies based in Baddi, a pharma hub in the state.

'She-Hulk' Amy Muscle, husband found dead: The ROID rage theory in the double tragedy
Image credits: Instagram/amymuscle_ifbbpro Z unilda Hoyos Mendez, popularly known as Amy Muscle was a Colombian bodybuilding athlete who was recently found dead at her luxury residence in Spain's Costa del Sol on Thursday. The 43-year-old champion was found beaten to death with a hammer alongside her 46-year-old husband who had self-inflicted wounds. Her husband Jarrod Gelling's body was found in a bathroom. Zunilda had been missing since Saturday, after flying to the Costa del Sol from Dubai where she had been living for much of the time with her husband, a Colombian-American. While less is known about Gelling, he was reportedly recovering from a knee injury and had accompanied Zunilda on her trip. While an autopsy of Mendez is underway, the police believe that she died from repeated blows to the head. According to the family of the bodybuilder dubbed as 'She Hulk', Amy had been enduring abuse from her husband for the past year and was planning to divorce him. Her niece Yuleydis told a Malaga-based newspaper Sur, that her aunt was going to help Gelling following a knee operation before travelling to Portugal to compete and going back to Colombia alone after the divorce. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025: Steel Suppliers From Mexico At Lowest Prices (Take A Look) Steel Suppliers | search ads Search Now Undo "For my aunt, it was the last trip, a goodbye. She had taken the decision to split from her husband because of his aggressive behaviour. They had broken up already once and were apart for quite a while but then got back together again to try to resolve things, although the mistreatment continued," revealed the niece. According to a statement given by a National Police spokesman in Malaga, Amy's body showed "obvious signs of violence and that of the man's signs indicating a suicide-type death which is something an autopsy will have to confirm." The suspected killer is believed to have Colombian and US nationality. Was Amy Muscle's murder a case of ROID rage ? Image credits: X/@Altosnoticiasp1 While the investigations continue, according to the statements of Amy's family and her niece, it seems the couple who had been married for four years were having some marital troubles. Amy and her husband both were bodybuilders, but she was an acclaimed bodybuilding champion who had several titles under her belt. Additionally, she was also an online fitness influencer with over 100,000 subscribers on various platforms. The Spanish police suspect Gelling who had the same nationality as the suspect to be the one who killed the fitness champion before taking his own life. The entire incident could be defined as a cause of ROID rage. ROID rage is a term that is used to describe anger and aggressive behaviour associated with anabolic steroid use. Steroid use is common in bodybuilders and weightlifters who need to bulk up their mass and while it may effectively help them it also puts them at the risk of negative psychiatric symptoms. The term "roid" in roid rage is an abbreviation of the word steroid and is used to symbolise the rage caused by steroid consumption. The steroids in this case are anabolic-androgenic steroids that help enhance athletic performance and improve lean muscles. A study published in the National Library of Medicine stated that the use of AAS leads to various symptoms such as irritability and unprovoked aggression sometimes referred to as "roid rage" Another study revealed that males who had used AAS at least once in their lives reported greater involvement in violent behaviour. The results of the study also revealed that steroid usage is linked with heightened levels of violent behaviours. Considering the way Amy was murdered with a hammer, her body having signs of abuse, her family reporting her husband's abuse, and the police suspecting her husband to be the killer, the entire incident could be studied with the angle of ROID rage. However, there's no official confirmation on this.
