It followed the three female comics as they dealt with a wide variety of topics, from irritating flatmates to workplace issues.
It proved to be a huge hit, with a regular audience of around 2.5million viewers.
Fiona, Doon and Sally have now revealed they will perform new sketches for the Edinburgh Fringe festival at the Gilded Balloon in August.
In a statement, the trio said: "This is slightly surreal because it's 24 years since we finished.
"We're not old comedy, we now qualify as vintage, which is cool. Is it?'
"Because we always talk sketch ideas when we get together, on some level it's almost as if Smack the Pony never really stopped - that it just kept going in some parallel universe.
"So it feels like Gilded Balloon is some kind of portal and we'll be popping into catch up with Series 26.
"We're very grateful to have this chance to hang out and take the p*** out of ourselves again - we've missed it!"
The series ran on Channel 4 until 2002, concluding with a special in January 2003.
In both 1999 and 2000, Smack The Pony won Best Popular Arts Show at the Emmy Awards.

Co-star and Bridget Jones actress Sally Phillips previously admitted a new series of the sketch show has been pitched to various networks over the last few years.
She said: 'We go through phases of pitching it to people.
'Fiona Allen really is the engine behind that so she's always seeing if anyone wants it and we have gone through periods of pitching it to the channels and being very optimistic.'
And Doon Mackichan has said: 'So much has happened to us all, as mothers and women, there's a lot that is funny about where we are now.
'There are years of pain to draw on.'
'We will have to wait and see what happens and whether they will want to bring it out of the stable. But we would love to get the old nag out again."

Gogglebox's Mary Killen admits she's addicted to vaping

Gogglebox fan favourite Mary Killen has revealed that she's become 'addicted' to vaping in her 60s, despite having never smoked a cigarette - as she reveals her plans to quit Googlebox fan favourite Mary Killen has revealed she's become addicted to vaping, despite never having smoked cigarettes. The star rose to fame in 2015 on Channel 4's Gogglebox as she and her husband Giles have the nation in hysterics every week as they sit down to watch the latest TV shows. ‌ Despite knowing the ins and outs on their thoughts on the latest episode of Love Island, fans aren't privvy to much of the Gogglebox stars' personal life. However, Mary has now opened up about an addiction she just can't shift - vaping. ‌ Mary, who says she was never interested in cigarettes, revealed that she picked the habit up two years ago, when her friends son, James, 22, offered her a puff of his Juul. "I loved inhaling the odourless air and blowing it out again. It just looked so chic and felt cooling in the palm of the hand," Mary wrote in her column for MailOnline. James allowed Mary to keep the vape, and she later found herself buying replacement pods when it ran out. "I reasoned that it would be good if I were to appear to have at least one addiction. "I would be 'levelling myself down', so to speak, in a way that could make me more socially acceptable in drinking circles," she wrote. However, her habit doesn't come cheap, as she explained in her column that she "wastes about £14 a week on four Juul replacement pods." She then questioned how to break the expensive habit, which she also admits self-pitying and argumentative when she runs out. Mary admitted she'd "probably kill or be killed by my family members," if she tried to go cold turkey - revealing that she was going to sign up to a course to help people quit vaping. ‌ It's not the only revelation Mary has made in her column. Recently, she told viewers about her controversial sleeping arrangements, telling fans she and Giles allowed the dogs on the bed. Mary and Giles met when they were both 21 years old while Giles was studying at Wimbledon Art School and Mary was working as a model. The pair have been blissfully married for over 30 years, most of which time they have spent living at their cottage in Wiltshire. ‌ The stars share two grownup children who prefer to stay out of the limelight. However, it was actually one of Giles' daughters that were originally due to appear on the show with her dad before she backed out at the last minute. After a lengthy phone call to producers, Giles managed to convince Mary to join the show - and the two have become fan favourites ever since their arrival. Little more is known about Mary and Giles' daughters however it has been revealed that they are both grown and no longer live at home with their parents.

Legendary actor, 94, and star of 70s police sitcom looks unrecognizable on rare outing – can you guess who it is?

A LEGENDARY actor has stepped out for an outing - but can you guess who he is? The actor, 94, was a huge star of a popular 70s police sitcom, and now looks so different from his dapper role as a cop. 6 He played the role of Captain Barney Miller in the hit series Barney Miller, which aired from 1975 until 1982. The role even earned him seven Primetime Emmy nominations and three Golden Globe Award nominations. In the series, his character had a full head of brown hair with gray strands dotted throughout. He also sported a luscious brown moustache. Have you guessed who he is yet? You've got it, it's Hal Linden, whose real name is Harold Lipshitz. The beloved TV icon was spotted out on Wednesday and kept things casual in a rather relaxed outfit. Hal could be seen rocking an all-black outfit comprising of trousers and a smart button-down shirt. He completed the look with some black trainers and a gray jacket. Holding a flask, Hal looked concentrated as he walked around Los Angeles. 00s reality star looks completely unrecognizable from 'wild' days as she trades in hard partying for tradwife lifestyle Hal shot to fame on Broadway when he replaced Sydney Chaplin in the musical Bells Are Ringing. He was married to Fran Martin, whom he met in 1955. They married in 1958 and had four children. Fran sadly died in 2010. Speaking about his role as Barney in the hit police sitcom, Hal was interviewed in 2017. Speaking to Vulture, he spoke about the comedic value of the show. "It does fit, because we used to cut lines from the script. "There'd be a punchline and we'd do the scene, and you'd find out that all you had to do was cut back to a physical reaction. "They were just as funny as the words." He went on: "We'd cut punchlines all the time. Yes, I think minimalist is a good description of the writing. "There's very few 'jokes' in Barney Miller. It was all relationship humor." As well as his role in Barney Miller, Hal is known for his guest roles in several other films and TV shows. Hal has had guest appearances in Touched by an Angel, The King of Queens, Gilmore Girls, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. 6 6 6
