Police intercept mini trucks carrying suspicious powder from pharmaceutical company in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The anti-narcotics squad of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city police intercepted two mini trucks on Saturday carrying suspicious powder concealed within plastic scrap obtained from a pharmaceutical company by a scrap vendor. Police commissioner Pravin Pawar said, "The presence of white powder and small granule-like substances randomly placed in carry bags and stashed in plastic drums has heightened suspicions." Police officers said that no chemical, in any form, can leave the pharmaceutical company without prior clearance from the appropriate channels. Police authorities reported that the intercepted vehicles had left a global generic and speciality pharmaceutical company's manufacturing unit in the MIDC Waluj area. Anti-narcotics squad inspector Geeta Bagwade stated, "There were indications of smuggling and transporting suspicious drug-like substances from a pharmaceutical company located in the MIDC Waluj area. Accordingly, our teams set up a trap and seized the two mini trucks." The officer said the driver failed to provide details or satisfactory answers regarding the powder. Police sources said, given the case's gravity, forensic teams have been requested to expedite testing and analysis to determine the composition of the seized white powder. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Ask A Pro: "I'm 70 with $1.4M in IRAs. After Gokulpeth bloodshed, betting mafia threaten another gang war
Nagpur: The city is on the brink of another gang war with tensions escalating between two notorious factions — Swapnil's Beans group and Sumeet's gang, raising fears of a repeat of the deadly Hiranwar-Sheikhu rivalry. With three murders in three years, including the chilling killing of Avinash Bhusari by Bunty Hiranwar's gang at Gokulpeth earlier this year, Nagpur's streets are no stranger to gangland bloodshed. Now, a fresh feud between top cricket bookies Ashish and Chitu threatens to unleash another wave of murders and retaliatory attacks, leaving police scrambling to avert chaos. The spark was ignited at a high-stakes party where Ashish and Chitu, both heavyweight bookies, clashed over dominance in the city's underworld betting scene. Sources reveal the argument turned violent with Chitu, a former murder accused booked under MCOCA, thrashing Ashish, who rose with the alleged backing of the Mumbai underworld. Ashish, supported by the feared Sumeet gang, and Chitu, backed by politically connected Swapnil, have drawn battle lines. Both sides are rallying their armed loyalists for a potential showdown. Sumeet, a dreaded gangster with two MCOCA cases and a sprawling network across eastern Vidarbha, commands a formidable force. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Twice, his gang, armed with loaded mausers and packed into four cars, rolled into rival territory to confront Swapnil and Chitu, only to find no challenge. "On another occasion, Ashish cornered Chitu at a fellow bookies' party at Pachgaon. Chitu then made a narrow escape as others shielded him," said the insider, adding the two gangs are now baying for each other's blood and exchanging threats on phone. Insiders warn that if the groups clashed, Nagpur's roads would turn into a battlefield, mirroring the January shootout between Pawan Hiranwar, Bunty Hiranwar, and Sheikhu's gang that left one dead. Though Pawan was shot in the rural area, the third retaliatory murder of Avinash took place at Gokulpeth, leaving the city shell-shocked. City police led by CP Ravinder Singal and DCP Crime Rahul Maknikar, are on high alert. Maknikar's team, under senior inspector Sandeep Buwa, recently detained Swapnil and Chitu and issued a stern warning. "Sumeet and Ashish are underground, but we're tracking them. Our surveillance is relentless, and we're prepared to act decisively," Maknikar declared. Despite these efforts, the crime branch is grappling with the fallout of ongoing rivalries and splinter group skirmishes. Sources reveal Ashish's rise was briefly halted by a former police commissioner, who forced him to shift his birthday bash to a rural venue. Meanwhile, Swapnil, also a bookie with a murder case, backs Chitu in this deadly power struggle. With both sides armed and unafraid of violence, Nagpur residents fear the worst.

Two Uzbek women arrestedfor illegal stay in Golf City
Lucknow: Two women from Uzbekistan were found residing illegally in a rented flat in Lucknow's posh Golf City area without valid visa or passport, triggering a multi-agency investigation into suspected human trafficking and tampering of identity through plastic surgery. Lodging an FIR, sub-inspector at Sushant Golf City police station Mahesh Kumar Singh said that acting on a confidential tip-off, the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) conducted a raid in a flat where two Uzbek women were found living since June 18 without informing the local authorities or the police. "The women claimed that they lost their travel documents two years ago. However, they failed to produce the copy of the police complaint regarding the loss of documents," Singh said in the FIR. Upon further interrogation, the women disclosed that they came to India with the help of a woman, Lola Kayumova, who was reportedly residing in India for a long time. They claimed that Kayumova introduced them to a plastic surgeon who runs clinics in Patrakarpuram and Ahimamau areas of the city. They said that they underwent plastic surgery procedures to alter their identity and claimed that the surgeon, and another person, whom they identified as Thrijin Raj alias Arjun Rana, arranged for their accommodation and facilitated their stay, despite knowing that their documents were invalid. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like New Container Houses Morocco (Prices May Surprise You) Container House | Search ads Search Now Undo The women have been taken into FRRO custody for further investigation. Deputy commissioner of police, south zone, Nipun Agarwal, said that more evidence was being collected and other associates of the accused were under scrutiny. "We are also looking into the possibility of a wider trafficking network," Agarwal said. He added that the accused have been booked under sections 318(4) (cheating), and 61 (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Section 5 of the Registration of Foreigners Act, 1939, Section 14A and 7(1) of the Foreigners Act, 1946, and under relevant sections of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025. "Probe is being conducted into the role of the plastic surgeon and Arjun Rana," the DCP said, adding that the foreign nationals would be deported to their country after the investigation.
