How former Alabama golfers performed during second round of 2025 U.S. Open
After a down showing Thursday for some, four former Alabama Crimson Tide golfers took to the course at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania on Friday for the second round of the 2025 U.S. Open.
With every name likely needing a big day Friday to make it to the weekend, the second round however ended up in a similar fashion to the first for some, as the group struggled altogether, and now as a result, missed the cut.
Because of this, it means that Alabama will not have a player represented in the final two rounds of the 2025 U.S. Open over the weekend.
Here is a look at how every former Alabama golfer at the 2025 U.S. Open performed during the second round on Friday.
Bud Cauley
Round 2 Score: 79 (+9)
79 (+9) Tournament Score: +9 (T-80)
+9 (T-80) Round 3 Tee Time: N/A
After an impressive round of 70 on Thursday, Cauley struggled Friday at Oakmont by shooting a 79 (+9) to sit at nine-over for the tournament. Cauley narrowly missed the cut as a result of this round, being the first Alabama golfer on the outside-looking-in.
Justin Thomas
Round 2 Score: 76 (+6)
76 (+6) Tournament Score: +12 (T-110)
+12 (T-110) Round 3 Tee Time: N/A
Thomas had a similar showing Friday to his first round, shooting an identical score of 76, which was six-over par. The former Alabama star now sits at +12 for the tournament, and will miss the cut.
Nick Dunlap
Round 2 Score: 74 (+4)
74 (+4) Tournament Score: +11 (T-105)
+11 (T-105) Round 3 Tee Time: N/A
After shooting a 77 on Thursday, Dunlap improved on his score during the second round with a 74 (+4). Dunlap now sits at +11 for the tournament, a score that will result in him missing the cut.
Davis Riley
Round 2 Score: 77 (+7)
77 (+7) Tournament Score: +15 (T-129)
+15 (T-129) Round 3 Tee Time: N/A
Lastly, Riley shot a 77 (+7) during the second round, improving on his Thursday score by a shot. Riley will miss the weekend at Oakmont.

Why Chris Hacopian chose Texas A&M - ‘I Want to Be the Best Baseball Player Possible'

Next season will be a make-or-break year for Texas A&M head baseball coach Michael Earley. Fans had mixed reactions when it was announced he would be retained, but expectations were high for several changes heading into the 2026 season. The first major move was the addition of Conference USA Assistant Coach of the Year, Cliff Pennington, who brings valuable experience to the staff, particularly on defense and the base paths. Another area of focus was the roster, as several players had already committed to staying under Earley. However, he still needed to address the loss of production and pitching depth. After a slow start in the transfer portal, Coach Earley received great news late Thursday night when one of the top players available, Chris Hacopian, committed to Texas A&M. The former Maryland infielder slashed .375/.502/.656 with 14 home runs and 61 RBIs, adding instant offense to the lineup. In a recent interview, Hacopian was asked why he chose A&M. His response: 'I want to become the best baseball player possible … and I think A&M and those guys over there are going to accomplish that.' A look at Nebraska's class of 2026 after the addition of top tight end Luke Sorensen

The Nebraska Cornhuskers' class of 2026 landed its sixth commitment on Friday evening. Tight end Luke Sorensen is the latest addition to the Husker football program. Sorensen is one of two four-star prospects in the 2026 class, along with offensive lineman Hayden Ainsworth of Biloxi, MS. The four remaining prospects are all ranked as three-star commits. The Huskers lost one of their four-star recruits earlier this week when Florida prep corner CJ Bronaugh decommitted. He would switch his commitment to the Florida Gators later in the week, in a move that was described as a desire to remain closer to home. The class has only one defensive commit with in-state linebacker Jace Reynolds. Offensively, the most notable name in the class is quarterback Dayton Raiola, the younger brother of Nebraska starting quarterback Dylan Raiola. The class of 2026 still has a long way to go before it is finished. It currently ranks 71st in the nation and 18th in the Big Ten, according to the latest analysis from On3. Loaded Iowa football offensive line boasts Big Ten's top returning tackle Gennings Dunker

The 2025 season for the Iowa Hawkeyes may run through the offensive line. The veteran group of linemen is loaded with Logan Jones at center, Connor Colby next to him, and Gennings Dunker as well. The group has experience, talent, and confidence from last season, where they paved the way for more than 2,500 rushing yards and opened up lanes for Kaleb Johnson on his way to an All-American year as the 2024 Big Ten Running Back of the Year. The trio could be the heart and soul of Tim Lester's offense with quarterback transfer Mark Gronowski under center. Fortunately, for Gronowski, he will have the best returning Big Ten offensive tackle protecting him in Genning Dunker. Dunker has topped Pro Football Focus' list of the highest-graded returning offensive tackles in the Big Ten ahead of 2025. Gennings Dunker enters his fourth season with Iowa and has 25 starts to his name after starting each game he was healthy over the last two years. The 2024 season saw him earn Second-Team All-Big Ten Honors from the coaches and Associated Press. A classic case of development, like so many Iowa Hawkeyes' success stories, Dunker was a three-star recruit from Lena Winslow High School in Lena, Illinois. As part of the class of 2021, he was the No. 38 interior offensive lineman, the No. 15 recruit in Illinois, and the No. 535 overall recruit, per 247Sports.
