H20 Just Add Water star welcomes a baby boy: 'Besotted'

Daily Mail16-05-2025

Cariba Heine has and her husband Matthew Pongrass have welcomed their first child together.
The H2O: Just Add Water star, 36, announced the exciting news on Wednesday on Instagram.
'Besotted with this baby boy,' she captioned an intimate black-and-white image of herself cradling the newborn.
Fans, friends, and her fellow Mako mermaids rushed to congratulate Cariba on the new addition to the family.
'Awwwww congrats!' Claire Holt, who starred as Emma Gilbert on H2O alongside Cariba, commented with a string of cute emojis.
'Our Rikki got a mini Rikki,' one excited fan commented, referencing Cariba's character in the Australian hit series, while another posted a humorous GIF of the character telling Phoebe Tonkin's Cleo "Sorry I don't do kids" in an early episode.
Cariba announced her pregnancy in December last year, a mere six months after she and her husband tied the knot in Tuscany, Italy.
The pair had been dating for some time before Matthew popped the question in 2022.
'Spoilt doesn't even cut it but pregnancy is HARD WORK. So I'll take it,' she wrote alongside a photo taken on holiday in her native Cape Town, South Africa.
Cariba is best known for her role as Rikki Chadwick in the kids mermaid TV series H2O: Just Add Water.
The beloved Channel Ten television series followed three teenagers — Emma, Cleo and Rikki — who transform into mermaids whenever they come into contact with water.
Her character on the show, which ran from 2006-2010, was a mermaid with special powers who was initially 'aloof and rebellious.'
Airing back in 2006 and running for three seasons, H20: Just Add Water was a huge success in Australia and paved the way to Hollywood stardom for several of its stars, including Phoebe Tonkin, Claire Holt and Luke Mitchell.
A third series aired due to worldwide popular demand before the show ended in 2010 and the cast have since bid farewell to Mako Island and moved onto bigger productions.
Cariba appeared in all three seasons of the show, in addition to its spin-off series Mako: Island Of Secrets.
The South African-born actress also starred in surfing television series Blue Water High as Bridget Sanchez for its third and final season which began filming in 2007.
The show followed the lives of a young group of students at Solar Blue, a high-performance surf academy, and aired on ABC1 and Nickelodeon.
She later took on minor roles in several Australian television shows and films, including nine episodes of the children's drama Dance Academy and as bruntte villain Ebony in Home and Away.
Cariba also got her big break in the US starring in Everyone Is Doing Great in 2021, alongside fellow Australian actor Alexandra Park.
Despite all three H20 stars continuing successful on-screen careers, with Tonkin and Holt also co-starring in Vampire Diaries prequel The Originals together, the Gold Coast drama series has continued to be a connection point for fans.
The series also experienced a resurgence in popularity during the Covid-pandemic as it was introduced to a whole new generation and went viral on TikTok.
Cariba, who was 18 when the show began, told Yahoo Lifestyle that she began to properly appreciate the series' impact.
'As I got older, I really started to appreciate how impactful the series was, especially for younger girls,' she said.
The actress said many fans have reached out to tell her Rikki taught them it is okay not to be 'the agreeable, nice, obedient girl'.
'That sort of stuff is really beautiful, I love hearing that,' she adds.
'That's really special to hear that a character you played when you were so young, to not even understand it, has helped people grow up and feel like they can be themselves more.'
That said, she told the publication she did not think a reboot starring herself and her co-stars would work because the show hinged on the leads being teenagers.

Jesy Nelson shares sweet insight into her life as a new mum as she posts snaps with newborn twins after finally coming home from hospital

Jesy Nelson has shared a sweet insight into her life as a new mum as she posted adorable pictures with her newborn twins on Friday. The former Little Mix singer, 34, and rapper Zion Foster, 26, welcomed their first children, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, in May after suffering months of complications. And appearing every inch the doting mother, the star looks to have settled into motherhood well as she posted an array of family pictures to Instagram. In one snap, Jesy can be seen cuddling one of her babies as they slept on her chest. Zion also appeared to enjoy fatherhood as he was seen entertaining the little ones with a fun dance. Another snap saw one of the newborn resting in a singular hand while wrapped up in a white baby grow. Alongside the snaps, Jesy penned: 'Have never ever felt more lucky and blessed in my whole entire life.' Her updates comes days after she revealed she is finally home with her newborn twins after three months in hospital. Jesy took to social media to share the major update with her fans. She simply wrote: 'My babies made it home for my birthday.' Fans were left delighted by the milestone, and flooded Jesy with compliments and well wishes. Ocean Jade and Story Monroe were born at just 31 weeks old, after Jesy was diagnosed with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) - a rare condition that can put one or both babies at risk. Before being released from hospital the twins had been receiving treatment in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Jesy recently opened up about their premature births, telling fans: 'Nothing or no one will ever be able to prepare you as a parent for NICU. 'It's the most scary overwhelming feeling of emotions not being able to feel like you can protect your babies. 'Naturally as a mother you just want to hold them and comfort them when they cry but you can't because there are what feels like a million wires coming out of them and tubes and masks in the way with people poking and prodding them it breaks your heart into a million pieces. 'Having them reunited for the first time ever today was the most magical feeling I will never be able to describe. The strongest little girls I've ever known who really do have the most inspiring story to tell'. In March, Jesy had to undergo an emergency procedure after suffering complications and was advised to remain in hospital until she was at least 32 weeks into her pregnancy. Throughout the ordeal, her partner Zion admitted he and Jesy, who was seven months pregnant at the time of her procedure, had ' grown to understand each other on a deeper level '. He told OK!: 'I think it's at these times when you really, really know what love you have and what your relationship means. 'And I think for me and Jess, this has just taken it to a whole other level of us knowing we are literally made for each other.' He said the couple had also tried to make the hospital as much of a home as possible. 'There's a couch that turns into a bed that we pushed next to the hospital bed, so we've made our own double bed. 'And it's like we've moved in. The nurses just said, "Oh, my God. It looks so nice in here. It looks so homely".' Jesy announced she was expecting twins with her boyfriend Zion back in January after rumours they had split. Originally from South London, Zion was born and raised in a Nigerian household by his mother and grew up listening to Gospel music. It was his football coach who then introduced the star to rap influences as he began listening to Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Usher. Zion then decided to pursue music as he began recording his own music and sharing it online via SoundCloud.

Sinner and singer Bocelli strike up partnership for new single

June 20 (Reuters) - World number one Jannik Sinner has formed a new doubles partnership but the duo will be battling for chart success rather than Grand Slam titles after the Italian released a single with compatriot and opera tenor Andrea Bocelli on Friday. The three-time Grand Slam champion Sinner promoted the song titled 'Polvere e Gloria' or 'Dust and Glory' on Instagram. The video features footage from the pair's childhoods and more recent clips of the singer and Sinner, clutching a racket and tennis ball, in front of a piano in Bocelli's home in Tuscany. Sinner's speeches form part of the song, which is in Italian and English, with Bocelli in full flow. "Every life is a potential work of art: each of us bears the sweet responsibility of nurturing our talents in the daily acrobatics of living, pursuing our dreams while remaining steadfastly true to our values," the pair wrote on Instagram. "This duet is such a bold leap that it has ignited our passion, born of shared and unwavering desire to express our deep belief that nothing is impossible." Sinner, the U.S. Open and Australian Open champion, said he was honoured to be part of the project with Bocelli, describing the singer as a "unique and extraordinary voice" and "a flag for our country in the rest of the world". "I could never have imagined hearing my voice in one of his songs. It's extremely moving," the 23-year-old added. Sinner, who was beaten by Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in an epic French Open final earlier this month, lost in the last 16 of the Halle Open on Thursday in a blow to his preparations for Wimbledon which gets underway on June 30.
