looked in good spirits during an outing in New York City on Sunday, a short time after it was revealed her dad Billy Ray Cyrus was dating actress Elizabeth Hurley.
The singer, 32, wore a loose fitting brown sweater and baggy dark pants and carried a shopping bag as she returned from a trip to a grocery store.
She beamed while she was driven away in a car by her boyfriend Maxx Morando, who was spotted wearing dark sunglasses.
Miley and the musician, 26, have been keeping their four-year relationship low key, although they stepped out together at the Oscars in March.
Like daughter, like father, it appears, as fans were shocked to learn that Miley's dad, Billy Ray, 63, had been having his own low-key relationship, until Sunday.
That's when he and Liz, 59, went Instagram official with their relationship, sharing a loved-up photo alongside the caption, 'Happy Easter!'
Liz's son Damian, 23, expressed his approval using a celebratory emoji.
'So Miley Cyrus could end up with Liz as a step mum…love it! ❤️' wrote a fan.
It's unclear what Miley's reaction to the news has been.
She and her father have had a strained relationship recently, as have several of her siblings, including sister Noah, 25.
Billy Ray tried to reach out to both Miley and Noah with a social media post in March after Miley announced she would release Something Beautiful, her ninth studio album in May and days after Noah had released her single Don't Put It All On Me.

When crews arrived, they found a man dead inside the residence. A 34-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and later charged with murder. "It's deeply disturbing to see people spreading false information, making assumptions and sharing screenshots. I understand the internet can be quick to judge, but this kind of speculation is damaging and invasive and is something I take very seriously." Asking anyone 'fuelling the gossip' to "please stop", she continued: "If you are part of the group fuelling this - sharing, gossiping or silently watching - I ask you to please stop. "This is not entertainment. This is a serious situation, that involves real victims. you're literally sick if you think this is at all funny. "As this has nothing to do with me, this will be the only time I speak on the matter. Thank you to those who reached out with kindness and common sense." It comes after The Courier Mail reported on Friday that the woman arrested for the alleged murder was once a contestant on reality show Beauty and the Geek. South Australia Police have confirmed the victim and the accused knew each other and had been in a relationship. The woman was refused police bail and remains in custody. Assistant Commissioner Parrott said a cause of death had not yet been established and no further details could be released, as the victim's family had not yet been notified. The woman did not apply for bail and has been detained under the Mental Health Act. She is expected to return to court in December. The suppression order regarding the accused's identity is set to be reviewed by the court next week.
