Select 339: Mixed by Vegie
Vegie blurs genres in this fast-paced, bass-heavy mix, drawing from UK club chaos, lo-fi textures, and raw emotion to deliver a fearless, high-intensity session. Jun 21, 2025 In this edition of Select, we spotlight Vegie, a genre-blurring DJ whose curiosity and obsession with sound have made him one to watch in the region's leftfield scene. Known for his fearless blends and emotional unpredictability, his sets pull from bass-heavy UK club cuts, lo-fi rhythms, and dancefloor catharsis. Vegie's musical journey started in his early teens, experimenting with mashups on a dusty family desktop. With a hand-me-down mixer passed from his father, also a DJ, he began digging through genres with an obsessive edge, developing a sound that refuses to stay in one place for too long. For this SceneNoise mix, Vegie delivers a heavy, rhythm-charged session packed with sharp percussion, sub-loaded grooves, and a relentless underground energy. It's a fast, fun, and raw listen, an honest snapshot of the tracks currently driving his sets. You'll hear sounds straight from the UK's most experimental corners, including standout tracks like 'Things Let Down' by Yami, 'Voltage 3000' by Tamlin, and 'Life Sketch' by 3X & Aleph. If you thought the North Coast was just about sun, sand, and strategically timed sunglasses selfies - congratulations, you've been tragically underfed. Jun 21, 2025 Whether you're beach-hopping or post-swim snacking, the North Coast's food scene is coming in hot this summer with bold debuts, buzzy imports, and cult-favourite franchises. Here are the latest openings we've got our eye on—because summer calories don't count. Think opulent mezzes, seafood towers, and a high-gloss setting made for golden hour dinners. SALT Marassi Marina The Dubai-born burger cult lands in Egypt with its signature sliders, beachside cool, and unapologetically messy vibes. Line up, it's always worth it. EL&N Marassi Marina London's 'most Instagrammable café' is now serving pink lattes and pistachio cake by the sea. Expect florals, fluff, and a side of selfie lighting. LUNCH ROOM Marassi Marina This sleek Saudi Arabian concept is elevating daytime dining with elevated sandwiches, grain bowls, and fresh juices—all served in a space that feels more Milan than Marina. AHWET ZEITOUNA Marassi Marina A nostalgic Lebanese café experience reimagined for the modern Sahel crowd. Shisha, board games, baladi charm, and views for days. SANDWICHROOM SODIC, Ras El Hekma The cult Cairo sandwich bar brings its signature sauces and carb-loaded brilliance to the coast. If you know, you know. MAYYAL Mountain View, Ras El Hekma An ode to Egyptian flavours with a modern twist, MAYYAL is serving up mezze, grills, and seaside elegance in equal measure. COSTADORO COFFEE O Mall, New Alamein Turin's heritage coffee house has landed, pouring rich Italian brews with a view. Espresso purists, this one's for you. PICKL North Square Mall, El Alamein Dubai's smash-hit burger joint makes its Egypt debut with wagyu patties, loaded fries, and sauces you'll want to bottle. Chaos and crunch in every bite. SURF CLUB SODIC, Ras El Hekma Post-swim and pre-sunset, Surf Club is where Ras El Hekma's good hair days and better playlists converge. Expect seafood towers, citrus cocktails, and the kind of crowd that makes you wish you wore nicer linen. ARABICA Marassi Marina The name says coffee, but the vibe says sunset aperitivo. Arabica brings its minimalist Japanese roots and cult-fave brews to the Marina - iced Spanish latte in hand, linen shirt optional.

Shkoon Realeases ‘Greater Than One' Remix EP
Shkoon's new remix EP reimagines their album 'Greater Than One' with global collaborators AWEN, Imad, and Nandu, fusing cultures, club sounds, and deep emotional layers into bold new forms. Jun 19, 2025 Shkoon, the genre-blurring electronic duo known for weaving Arabic folklore into forward-facing club sounds, drop 'Greater Than One (Remixes)', a reimagined journey through their 2022 album. Out now via MDLBEAST Records, the remix EP brings together a global lineup of producers who expand Shkoon's sonic universe while honoring its emotional and cultural core. The project kicks off with a deep and moody take on 'Mili' from South African-born AWEN, whose remix folds warm piano motifs into pulsing deep house textures. Next, Lebanese-Nigerian producer Imad flips 'Souf' into a driving Afrohouse hybrid, merging rhythmic percussion with Middle Eastern scales in a rich cross-cultural flow. Finally, Danish artist Nandu delivers an intricate club rework of 'Jadal', lacing the track with oud, violin, and tight percussion that turns its slow-burning tension into pure dancefloor alchemy. With each remix, Shkoon's sound becomes even more borderless. From Beirut to Lagos to Copenhagen, 'Greater Than One (Remixes)' is less about reworking old tracks and more about pushing the story forward. It's an invitation into a shared musical language, one that transcends time, place, and genre.
