IDK about you, but I am very, very, very, very, very, very, VERY much not a fan of the airport...or planes...or being in the sky in general. So, needless to say, I have a lot of respect for people who spend most of their days working on planes, tending to entitled customers, and all around living my actual nightmare.
Well, Reddit user TwistedHumorX recently asked cabin crew members to share the worst, weirdest, and "most WTF" things they've ever witnessed on the job. Y'all...I fear these stories have only validated my fears and confirmed that flight attendants are perhaps some of the strongest people in the world. So, without further ado, here are 23 shocking and occasionally disturbing stories they shared:
"We found poop in the toilet sink. Sometimes it's pee sloshing around because people don't know the sink has to be drained, aside from the fact that it is a sink and not a toilet bowl. Also, some men insisted they needed a sanitary napkin, just because they saw a woman receive it from me. They thought I was giving out amenities and felt they also had a right to receive whatever the lady got. So, fine, I gave them some. The next time I passed by, they had the pads stuck to their eyes. They thought they were eyeshades."
"My girlfriend is cabin crew. There are two main stories she tells. The first one is a passenger who mixed sleeping pills and alcohol, this caused the passenger to freak out and attack another passenger. The other involves a passenger who didn't have his belt over his blanket when the fasten seat belt sign was lit. He looked asleep and didn't respond to the crew when they tried to wake him, so they had to move the blanket to check. Turns out he was masturbating."
"My father was a pilot and my mother was a flight attendant. I've always said my mom should write a book. In the 1960s, my mom's route was LA–NY and back (first class cabin), so it always had a famous person or two. Actors were always the worst for her. Most notably, she said she was manhandled by Robert Goulet, who then proceeded to tell the whole plane that he had sex with her (which didn't happen). After my mom asked Lucille Ball what she would like to drink, Lucille Ball replied, 'I don't talk to servants.'"

Well, one day, I was watching the lost and found desk and one of our gate agents came in with a laptop. She said she found it at an empty gate, so I had no flight information to go off of. The laptop had no stickers or other identifying information on it, so I thought to myself, 'Hmm, I bet if I open it, it will have a lock screen with the owner's name.' So I opened it. But the laptop didn't open to the lock screen, it opened to the tab the owner had been viewing, which was a porn site."
"My aunt said that on one flight on Thanksgiving, they were serving turkey to the first-class customers (back when they still served food). As they brought the turkey out and were about to start serving the people, they hit some turbulence and the turkey fell on the ground. It was the only turkey they had, so she simply picked it up and walked to the back 'to get a new one.' In reality, she just dusted it off and brought the same one back."

The lady went nuts and called 911 from her cellphone and said she was an American citizen being held against her will on a foreign airline, and — as they were about to take off — she was going to be taken to another country."

But nah, instead of escorting her child to the bathroom, she had him stand up in between the seat and the seat back in front of him while she cupped her hands under his ass. That kid shit into her hands. Why."

According to the Redditor, her mom then attempted to upgrade herself to business class, but didn't have enough points, so she ended up upgrading both herself and her daughter to premium economy seating instead. The teen girl said she attempted to 'confront' her parents about the travel ordeal, telling them that she thought they could have tried harder to come up with a 'fair solution.' 'My father could've gifted some of his points to my mom so that she also could've upgraded both of us to business class too. In this case, we would've all flown there in economy and back in business,' she explained. However, the teenager wrote that her parents did not appreciate her complaints. 'My father just told me that life isn't fair. My mother said that I'm selfish and the a------ for not being happy for them," she said. 'This truly isn't about me complaining about being in economy — I don't care about that. I'm just sad they would treat us differently." Many cruisers turn to online forums like Reddit, Facebook groups, and cruise website message boards for tips and advice about cruises. These forums can be a wealth of cruise information, but it's important to keep in mind that not all of the tips and "cruise hacks" you find on them - even popular ones - are wise. Some can also jeopardize your safety and the safety of others. Although some cruise hacks are smart and helpful, you probably shouldn't try any that sound questionable. In a video message posted on June 14, Heald shared a serious warning for Carnival cruise passengers after a concerning cruise hack was brought to his attention by both cruisers and a staff member who monitors social media sites for the cruise line. This Carnival cruise cabin hack was posted on a cruise message board and suggested a questionable way to make the cabin air conditioning get cooler. "Basically, what they're saying is you can go into the thermostat, take the thing off, switch some wires around and bypass and sort of try and make it cooler yourself, I guess," Heald explained. "I spoke with one of the engineers about this on one of the ships, and not only is that something that is very likely to give you an electric shock and really injure you, but also it's very dangerous as well from a fire safety point of view," Heald explained. As he warned passengers against this cruise air conditioning hack, the brand ambassador also encouraged Carnival cruisers not to hesitate to reach out to guest services if they have a problem with their cabin air conditioning. "Please don't write to me at the end of cruise when you're back home in Cleveland and say it wasn't cold enough in my cabin," Heald stressed. "Talk to somebody on board there - call 7777, go to guest services, tell your cabin attendant, do whatever is necessary." Heald also explained why it may feel like cruise ship air conditioning systems aren't cooling as well as they should, especially during the hot summer season. "The ship uses a cooling system - a cool water system - which takes the cold water from the engines and the engine room and pushes that through into the air conditioning. Now, remember this time of year the water temperatures in the be very warm and so just bear that in mind - it is the very warm and humid time of year," Heald said. Passenger's bag subjected to disgusting act mid-flight — and the airline says it's not their problem

What a drip-off! A Frontier Airlines passenger was horrified to discover her under-the-seat carry-on bag was soaked with urine following a recent flight — and shocked when airline staffers waved off her complaints. The soggy saga unfolded on a Seattle-Dallas sojourn in early June — and went public after a family member shared the trickle-down theory in a popular Reddit post asking experienced travelers how to get the budget carrier to shoulder the bladder burden. Advertisement The passenger's sister explained that during the flight, the backpack was stored under the seat in front of her, and when she went to grab it when the flight was over, she realized it was 'soaked.' 'She assumed maybe water or soda, but when she tried to dry it off in the airplane bathroom, the paper towels came out yellow,' the post said. 'She's 99% sure the person sitting in the seat in front of her peed during the flight and it leaked onto her backpack.' Advertisement Right after deplaning, the passenger went right to the gate to try and report it, but 'the staff there basically brushed her off' and told her to go to the ticket counter. When she did that, they then sent her to the supervisor. 'She's literally carrying around pee soaked paper towels as evidence while getting bounced around the airport trying to find someone who will take her seriously,' the Reddit user wrote. A manager admitted that they had to call the general manager since they didn't know how to handle the situation because 'nothing like this has happened before.' 'Frontier doesn't consider anything a biohazard unless it visibly contains blood (even if there is a reasonable possibility of it containing blood, such as urine, feces, or vomit).' 'We also don't have cleaners. FAs pick up trash from the seatback pockets and GAs are supposed to do everything else. Most times if there is stuff on the seats we can't get them to do anything. The times they've had to clean them, due to something extreme like vomit, all they've done is lightly wipe the seat with some paper towels and maybe some basic cleaning spray.' The Post has contacted the airline for comment. Meanwhile, Frontier's contract of carriage states that the airline is not responsible for incidents like the one described. 'Frontier will not be liable for loss or damage to carry-on baggage unless such damage is caused by Frontier's or its agent's negligence, which does not include damage resulting from turbulence, shifting of items during flight, or ordinary handling, including placing the baggage in overhead compartments or under seats.'
