Notre Dame football announces its plans for the 2026 Shamrock Series game
One the Notre Dame football's recent traditions has been playing in an annual Shamrock Series game which started in 2009, and on Wednesday it was announced that the 2026 edition will happen on Sep. 6th, against the Wisconsin Badgers at Lambeau Field.
Initially the game was supposed to be played in 2020, but due to the shortened season, it didn't happen. This will be the second time the two teams have played in a Shamrock Series game, the first a Notre Dame 41-13 win in Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois. The announcement means that the Irish can now check off playing in another stadium, as this will be the first time playing in historic Lambeau Field.
According to the press release, this is only the third time a collegiate game will be played on the 'Frozen Tundra,' the first since 2016. Another interesting note they shared was the fact that the field is named after a Notre Dame player and founder of the Green Bay Packers, Curly Lambeau.
The Badgers will look to rebound from a disappointing 2024, where they went 5-7 and didn't play in a bowl game. The two teams will be much different when the take on each other in 2026, but it still should be a great game played in one of the most famous NFL stadiums.

Notre Dame earned a big victory on the recruiting trail, landing a verbal commitment from class of 2026 four-star cornerback Khary Adams on Friday. Adams, who currently attends Loyola Blakefield High School in Towson, Maryland, is a member of the Rivals250, checking in at No. 246 nationally. He also ranks as the No. 5 prospect in the state of Maryland and the No. 19 cornerback in the 2026 cycle. Penn State was previously considered the front-runner for Adams, following his official visit to Happy Valley from May 16 through May 18, but ultimately Notre Dame checked off all the boxes for what Adams was looking for in a program. "Scheme, the environment and the plan they have for me," Adams previously told Rivals when asked what is important to him in his recruitment. "And also NIL (is a factor)." He will play his college football under head coach Marcus Freeman, defensive coordinator Chris Ash, defensive backs coach/defensive pass game coordinator Mike Mickens and the rest of the Notre Dame staff. Adams also took recent official visits to Oregon, South Carolina, Michigan and Maryland as well. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Adams is a play-making defensive back with great speed thanks to his track and field background. He is strong in pass coverage in both man-to-man and zone concepts and possesses impressive ball skills. Adams also plays wide receiver for the Dons and is electric with the ball in his hands. As a junior in 2024, Adams earned first-team MIAA "A" All-Conference honors as a defensive back. He recorded 39 tackles, two tackles for loss, four interceptions, 12 pass break-ups and two fumble recoveries. Offensively, Adams amassed 31 receptions for 703 yards (22.7 yards per catch) and eight touchdowns. With Adams' commitment, Notre Dame's 2026 class now includes 18 total pledges. Wisconsin football 2025 opponent announces notable stadium theme for Badgers' matchup
The Wisconsin Badgers will have their hands full when they visit the Michigan Wolverines in Week 6 on Oct. 4. Michigan is ESPN SP+'s No. 10 team in the nation entering the season, bolstered by a defense that projects as the nation's third-best, ranked behind only Ohio State (No. 2) and Texas (No. 1). Wisconsin won its last visit to the Big House, 49-11, back in 2020. Given the context of that season, that spectator-less environment is far from what the program will face this fall. Dating back further, the Badgers are just 1-7 in their last trips to Ann Arbor, Michigan, dating back to 1998. The only win was a 48-28 triumph back in 2010. As if the road environment against a potential top-10 team in the sport wasn't already enough of a challenge, Michigan Athletics announced that their Oct. 4 game against the Badgers will be their annual 'Maize Out.' That reality should elevate the in-game environment even further. 247Sports also noted the game will kick off at either noon or 3:30 p.m. ET. Wisconsin's trip to Michigan Stadium is just one of many challenging contests on the team's 2025 slate. That schedule is projected as the toughest in the Big Ten and the second-toughest in the entire sport. While several paths to bowl eligibility exist for the Badgers, a road win over the Wolverines would be a major step toward that reality. Hannah Hidalgo has made the Women's FIBA AmeriCup roster as it starts later this month The FIBA Women's AmeriCup will start up on June 28th, and on Thursday it was announced that Notre Dame star Hannah Hidalgo has made the team. She will team up with her former teammate, Olivia Miles, who transferred to TCU, as the USA will look to take gold during the vent. Following three days for trials, the roster has been set and Hidalgo is no stranger for playing for her country. In 2023, the Irish star helped the U19 Women's National Team take home a gold medal, along with three other players who made the team. Hidalgo was also on the 2022 U17 team that took home gold, along with playing for the USA at the Nike Hoop Summit according to USA Basketball's release. The United States will open its play against host Chile, and then will play Colombia, Puerto Rico, and Mexico in Group B. The goal is to win this tournament, which will allow them a berth into the 2025 FIBA Women's World Cup that will be played in Berlin, Germany next summer.
