Predators captain Roman Josi diagnosed with POTS

June 18 - Nashville Predators captain Roman Josi is expected to attend training camp and play next season after being diagnosed with postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS) toward the end of the NHL season, the team announced Wednesday.
The symptoms of POTS -- a treatable condition that has no cure -- include a fast heart rate, dizziness and fatigue.
The three-time All-Star was limited to 53 games in 2024-25 after suffering a concussion on Feb. 25 against the back-to-back champion Florida Panthers. Josi, 35, scored nine goals and added 29 assists.
"He has been undergoing treatment since that diagnosis and is progressing exceptionally well," Predators general manager Barry Trotz said in a statement. "We concur with Roman that with continued management and treatment, he can return to the ice for the 2025-26 season and continue with his elite hockey career."
The 2020 Norris Trophy winner was one of the first six players named to Switzerland's Olympic team on Monday ahead of the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games. He played for the Swiss team at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and Team Europe at the 2016 World Cup.
Josi has spent 14 seasons, his entire NHL career, with the Predators. In 962 games, the left-shot defenseman has 724 points (190 goals, 534 assists). He has added 12 goals and 33 assists in 91 playoff games.

Sophie Ingle reflects on ‘tough' journey to fitness from ACL injury and how Wales' Euros dream fueled her recovery

SOPHIE INGLE says her battle back to fitness from a knee injury ahead Wales' Euros debut has been "tough but worthwhile". And the former Chelsea star has urged her team-mates to give it all they have got against the Netherlands, France and England in the contest's group stage. 5 5 5 5 The midfielder, 33, was sharing her thoughts at Cardiff Airport shortly before jetting off to Portugal with her Wales pals for their pre-Euros camp. The team will spend this week doing warm weather training as part of their prep for potentially humid conditions in Switzerland the host nation for this year's contest. Last Friday the ex- Chelsea star was named in Rhian Wilkinson's squad for the tournament, with the Wales boss announcing her 23-strong group from the summit of Yr Wyddfa, also known as Snowdon. Ingle's inclusion follows her recovery from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament sustained last September. The five-time WSL title winner suffered her injury during the Blues' pre-season clash with Dutch side Feyenoord. It meant the midfielder, who has 141 senior international caps, spent last season out of action for her country and former club. When asked how much of it was to be fit in time to help Wales at the Euros, Ingle told Sky Sports: "It's been a tough eight to nine months (for rehab). 'But I just had this to aim for and that really helped me push every single day being in that gym on my own. 'It was hard, but I'm near the end which is the main thing.' Wales' historic qualification for this year's Euros was sealed when Wilkinson's team beat the Republic of Ireland 2-0 in the second leg of their qualifier clash last December. Ingle added: "As soon as the girls qualified (in December, I rang my physio at club and said, 'is it doable (for me)? The timeframe is going to be tough'. "He said let's give it everything we've got and that's what we did." Wales are competing in what could be described as a Euros group of death with their group D rivals being titleholders England, 2017 champs the Netherlands and France. 5 And while Ingle sees her side as underdogs, she reckons they are capable of excelling in the contest. She said: "We can achieve anything we want to. I think we're underdogs as we kind of always are. "We're not expected to win these games but let's play these three (opponents) in the group stage and give it everything we've got against very good teams."

Rare Olympics 50p coin sells for 21 times its face value on eBay – have you checked your change?

A RARE 50p coin featuring the offside rule from the London 2012 Olympics has sold for over 21 times its face value in a recent eBay auction. The coin, part of a special set created to celebrate the Games, went for £10.51 after a bidding war. 5 5 The listing came from a seller in Manchester, near Bolton, who described the piece as 'rare'. The coin received 13 bids before finally being sold. Its design shows a football pitch with a diagram explaining the offside rule, which helped it catch the attention of collectors and football fans alike. The designer said: 'I'm a football fan, I've followed the Premier League since its inception and if I had fifty pence for every time someone asks what the offside rule is then I would be a rich man.' A spokesperson from the Royal Mint added: 'In advance of the London 2012 Olympics, the Royal Mint held a coin design competition to produce a series of 50 pence pieces on an Olympic sports theme. "The "competition, which was open to the general public, resulted in 29 pieces and introduced the youngest ever designer of United Kingdom coinage at just nine years old.' This isn't the first time a 50p coin has fetched far more than its original value. In a similar case, a Kew Gardens 50p – one of the rarest in circulation – sold for over £150 on eBay. Only 210,000 of these coins were minted back in 2009, making them a top target for collectors. Another Olympic 50p, this time featuring the wrestling design, went for £19 in a recent auction, nearly 40 times its face value. The Triathlon version has also proved popular, with examples regularly changing hands online for more than £15. Back in 2023, the Atlantic Salmon 50p created for the UK's Wildlife series was also spotted selling online for more than £12, despite being released only recently. With just 200,000 in circulation, it has quickly become one of the most desirable new coins. A Peter Rabbit 50p from the Beatrix Potter series sold for £11 after a flurry of bids. Its companion coin, Flopsy Bunny, also reached similar figures, both thanks to their relatively low mintage and nostalgic appeal. Some sellers have even managed to get lucky with error coins. One Royal Mint coin featuring a printing mistake – a misaligned image – was bought for £50, despite being a standard 50p coin in shape and size. These cases prove that it's worth checking your change. 5 5
