EDGE, FAB sign strategic agreement to build a resilient financial ecosystem

ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)EDGE Group, one of the world's leading advanced technology and defence groups, has entered a strategic partnership with First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB).The agreement covers two major financial initiatives: the implementation of FAB's advanced Supply Chain Finance (SCF) solution and the deployment of its AI-powered Treasury Management System (TMS).Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE, said, 'Our partnership with FAB is a strategic enabler of EDGE's global industrial ambitions. It reinforces the financial architecture required to operate at scale, with speed and resilience. In an increasingly competitive and complex environment, this alignment ensures we remain agile, well-capitalised, and positioned for sustained international growth.'Martin Tricaud, Group Head of Wholesale Banking at FAB, said, 'FAB's partnership with EDGE marks a step forward in building a more resilient supplier ecosystem. We recognise that effective cash flow and supply chain finance are fundamental to sustainable business models. By combining our global expertise with innovative financial solutions, we are enhancing financial agility and enabling long-term value creation.'Through FAB's digital SCF solution, EDGE provides local and international suppliers access to early, low-cost financing, which enhances supplier trust, improves commercial terms, and ensures continuity across critical operations.EDGE's deployment of FAB's AI-powered TMS represents the largest to date. The solution delivers real-time cash visibility, advanced forecasting capabilities, and integrated risk management tools, enabling EDGE to automate treasury operations and optimise liquidity across the Group.The platform provides protection for interest rate risk and FX risk while improving financial agility, investment planning, and funding.Rodrigo Torres, Group Chief Financial Officer of EDGE, said, 'This partnership reflects EDGE's commitment to embedding financial sophistication and innovation at the core of our operations. By integrating FAB's advanced SCF and AI-powered TMS platforms, we are optimising liquidity and supplier performance while also reinforcing our ability to manage risk and scale with confidence."
He added that to date, over Dh1.6 billion in invoices have been processed, unlocking more than Dh 1.2 billion in off-balance sheet financing. These solutions enable real-time cash control, intelligent forecasting, and stronger financial governance across the Group – all of which are critical to supporting the long-term growth strategy and industrial objectives.

21 June 2025 13:17 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Department of Community Development (DCD), in collaboration with the Presidential Court Majalis Abu Dhabi, has hosted a series of sessions for community members to raise awareness on the Medeem initiative and the Emirati Family Growth Program, sessions shed light on the objectives and successes of both initiatives, encouraging youth and soon-to-be-married couples to embrace an approach rooted in Emirati heritage—one that promotes simplicity, mutual understanding, and shared responsibility as the foundation for happy, stable sessions, which were attended by Dr Mugheer Al Khaili, Chairman of DCD, and Engineer Hamad Ali Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of DCD, and included a series of interactive discussion sessions across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al sessions fostered direct engagement with community members, addressing their questions, gathering feedback, and sharing insights on the design and impact of both Medeem and highlighted the critical role of the sessions as open forums for meaningful dialogue where youth and families can share their experiences, including success stories from Medeem, which has empowered couples to build stable marriages with reduced financial burdens. AI can aid counter-extremism if developed responsibly, says new Hedayah report
20 June 2025 19:26 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)Made possible through the generous support of the United Arab Emirates, Hedayah — the International Center of Excellence for Countering Extremism and Violent Extremism — launched a new research brief examining how Artificial Intelligence (AI) may be responsibly leveraged to support terrorism prevention efforts, as the use of AI grows across all sectors of report, 'Artificial Intelligence for Counter Extremism'', underlines that while terrorist exploitation of AI remains largely experimental at present, it is expected to grow and adapt over time. The report offers a balanced, evidence-based analysis of both the risks associated with AI misuse and the opportunities it presents to strengthen counter-extremism from a review of 52 academic publications and insights from five expert roundtables involving stakeholders from government, academia, the tech industry and civil society, the research maps out the evolving landscape of AI-enabled extremism and corresponding policy its key findings, the report notes that extremists are already testing AI tools such as multilingual translation, content adaptation, and deepfake technology to spread disinformation and accelerate radicalisation. While much of the existing research focuses on predicting future threats, there has been less emphasis on understanding current applications of AI and its role in eroding public trust within the broader information the prevention side, AI's use has primarily centred on content moderation. However, Hedayah identifies broader opportunities, including improved strategic communications and enhanced messaging campaigns aimed at fostering social resilience against extremist ideologies. The report also flags a pressing need to address systemic biases in AI systems, warning that such disparities risk marginalising already vulnerable communities and exacerbating social support effective and ethical deployment of AI in counter-extremism, Hedayah recommends promoting greater diversity within AI development teams to ensure inclusive design. It calls for prioritising 'safety by design' and integrating human oversight into AI processes. The report advocates for robust collaboration between sectors and disciplines to ensure diverse perspectives are incorporated and urges the inclusion of AI literacy in broader media literacy programmes. It also recommends a continuous monitoring approach to AI trends and threats, coupled with proportionate, evidence-based risk assessments that avoid both alarmism and Al Qasimi, Executive Director of Hedayah, underscored the importance of embracing the opportunities presented by AI technology.'Generative AI is a powerful tool - we must focus on harnessing it wisely to prevent radicalisation, enhance safety, and counter extremism.' He added: 'This moment also calls for bold and purposeful collaboration between the tech sector, policymakers, and civil society to ensure AI becomes a force for reducing extremism and violent extremism globally.'Emphasising the urgency of timely action, Anna Sherburn, Deputy Executive Director of Hedayah, noted: 'Our findings show that although terrorist use of AI is still in its early stages, the risk is growing as the technology becomes more widely accessible. The time to act is now - not with panic, but with clear purpose.' She continued: 'Hedayah's AI report helps to shift the conversation. Instead of only asking 'what could go wrong with AI?', we ask 'what could go right?' if we design responsibly, collaborate strategically, and build trust across all sectors.' Hedayah's report urges governments, practitioners, and the private sector to engage collaboratively in shaping the responsible use of AI in preventing and countering extremism efforts and to avoid the pitfalls of viewing AI solely as a threat.
