Four held at Mumbai airport for smuggling drugs worth Rs 20 crores

MUMBAI: The Customs department at the International airport in three separate cases of narcotics arrested four persons and seized hydroponic weeds worth Rs 20 crores.
In the first case the Air Intelligence Unit of Customs at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International airport on specific intelligence intercepted a couple passenger Mohammed Bilakhiyais (40) and his wife Afreen Bilakhiya who were suspected to be smuggling narcotics from Bangkok. On checking their baggage resulted in recovery of 11,808 grams of greenish substance purported to be narcotics. On checking with the field test kit it tested positive for hydroponic weed. Officials said the estimated value of 11,808 grams of weed is worth Rs 11.80 crores.
In the second case the AIU intercepted a passenger Sangish Khan Kuppal from Tamil Nadu who arrived from Bangkok and seized 907 grams of greenish substance hydroponic weed (marijuana) worth Rs 90 lakhs from his baggage.

In the third case the Customs detained Mohammed Rafiq Shaikh (34), a resident of Trombay who arrived on Tuesday from Bangkok. On checking his baggage resulted in recovery of 5,904 grams of hydroponic weeds worth Rs 5.90 crores.
Similarly in the third case the AIU detained two passengers Laxman Mahadik and Harsha Ketan Chheda who arrived from Bangkok on Tuesday. "As they were suspected to be carrying some narcotics, officials detained them and carried out a thorough checking of their baggage resulting in recovery of greenish substance hidden inside pillow covers. On opening them we found 5,904 grams of weed whose value is worth Rs 5.90 crores."

Several people can be seen carrying or directing children to duck down and move away in a livestream video of the Sunday morning service at CrossPointe Community Church in Wayne. "C'mon, everybody to the back," a woman calls out. The woman, who was initially crouching between two rows of seats, stands and waves an arm. "Please, everyone come to the back!" People, some of them ducking their heads, rush out as others can be heard yelling "Go!" and "Come on!" A loud crack is heard and people can be heard crying out as those remaining run and walk quickly out of sight. The gunman, identified as Brian Anthony Browning, 31, did not have any previous contacts with local police or a criminal history, but may have been suffering a mental health crisis, the Wayne Police Department said in a news release. Bangladesh probe into Hasina-era abuses warns 'impunity' remains
Sheikh Hasina (Image: ANI) DHAKA: A Bangladesh government-appointed commission investigating hundreds of disappearances by the security forces under ousted premier Sheikh Hasina on Monday warned that the same "culture of impunity" continues. The Commission of Inquiry into Enforced Disappearances is probing abuses during the rule of Hasina, whose government was accused of widespread human rights abuses. That includes the extrajudicial killing of hundreds of political opponents and the unlawful abduction and disappearance of hundreds more. The commission was established by interim leader, Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus , 84, who is facing intense political pressure as parties jostle for power ahead of elections expected early next year. Bangladesh has a long history of military coups and the army retains a powerful role. "Enforced disappearances in Bangladesh were not isolated acts of wrongdoing, but the result of a politicised institutional machinery that condoned, normalised, and often rewarded such crimes," the commission said, in a section of a report released by the interim government on Monday.
