Jade Thirlwall's sweet nod to Little Mix as she makes Summertime Ball solo debut
Jade Thirlwall took a moment to talk about Little Mix at Capital's Summertime Ball, saying 'I miss my girls' as she made her first solo debut at the annual concert
Jade Thirlwall kicked off the 2025 Capital Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium, making it her debut at the concert as a solo artist. However, it wasn't Jade's first time performing there, as she reminded fans during her set, and gave a sweet nod to her former band Little Mix, saying 'I miss my girls'.
As the pop icon stood on the stage, she asked the audience, 'I have done the Summertime Ball a few times before - do you know who with?', before sending fans into a frenzy with a medley of Shout Out To My Ex and Sweet Melody by Little Mix.
Jade then took a moment to mention her former bandmates and sweetly mentioned how much she 'misses' them and is 'proud' of all they achieved together. Jade said: 'I really do miss my Little Mix girls a lot and I am so proud of everything we achieved together, but I can't lie Wembley, it does feel nice to do my own songs written about my own personal experiences. With that said, this song was my first single'.
The singer, who looked stunning in a red and white miniskirt with a matching jacket, then performed Angel of My Dreams, but not before thanking her fans first.
Jade said: 'Before I leave, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for backing me, supporting me as an artist, thank you Capital for having me here today, this is Angel of My Dreams'.
The appearance marked a significant milestone in her solo career, following a series of successful singles like "Angel of My Dreams," "Fantasy," and "It Girl". Her performance was highly anticipated, especially after her standout live shows at the Brit Awards and Radio 1's Big Weekend.
Since departing Little Mix in 2022, Jade has swiftly established herself as a solo artist and released her debut single, Angel of My Dreams, in July 2024, which debuted at number 7 on the UK Singles Chart.
Jade's debut album, That's Showbiz Baby, is set for release on September 12, 2025, under RCA Records. Last month, the singer took to Instagram to share the news with fans, posting: "THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY! My debut album out 12th September." The announcement was accompanied by a striking image of what appears to be her album artwork, which features Jade in four different outfits and poses.
The singer, who will also kick off her first UK and Ireland tour in October, told fans: "This album has been years in the making, so I'm beyond excited that I can finally let everyone know when it's coming out. I'm very proud of 'THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY!' as a body of work and can't wait to share it with the world. To be able to perform the album live later this year is also a dream come true. See you all on tour!"
This career move comes after Jade has already spent a decade in the spotlight after rising to fame as part of Little Mix in 2011.
The band went on to become one of the UK's most successful girl groups, clinching number one singles, Brit Awards, and touring internationally. After the band went on hiatus in May 2022, Jade kicked off her career as a solo artist.

Jade Thirlwall makes VERY cheeky quip in risqué speech after being crowned Celebrity Ally Of The Year at British LGBT Awards - following her anti-JK Rowling chant
Jade Thirlwall made a cheeky quip after she was crowned Celebrity Ally Of The Year at British LGBT Awards at The Brewery in London on Friday evening. The Angel Of My Dreams hitmaker, 32, known professionally as JADE, is an outspoken supporter for the LGBTQ+ community, and earlier this month during a performance led thousands of fans in an anti-JK Rowling chant. Jade, who couldn't be present and accepted the gong via video link, told her gay fans how much she 'adorned' them, before cheekily thanking those who bought jockstraps from her merchandise collection. The singer raised eyebrows when she announced the range last year that also included a butt plug on a keychain and silicon-based lubricant. She said: 'Thank you, thank you, thank you, so so much for this award. It really does mean everything to me. I just want to say that from the bottom of my heart, I really do adore the LGBTQ+ community'. 'I know for a fact that I wouldn't be where I am now were it not for that community supporting me, and making me the best artist I can be, and the best ally that I can be'. Before quipping: 'And I would personally like to thank my gay fans especially for making my jock strap my best-selling merchandise piece - thank you so, so much'. Jade continued: 'But in all seriousness, I want you to know that my allyship is not transactional. It has always been incredibly important to me, for many years now, to be the best ally I can be, and show up for the community time and time again'. 'And I do feel like at this time more than ever, it really is crucial for allies to speak up, stand up and show support for the LGBTQ+ community, particularly the trans community'. Before adding: 'I'm really sorry that I can't be there tonight, I'm genuinely gutted. But I just want to say congratulations to all of the winners tonight and you have my oath, for eternity, that I will constantly strive to be the ally that you deserve'. Jade is far from the first celebrity with a large LGBTQ+ following to release risqué merch. Following her 2020 dance-pop album Chromatica, Lady Gaga released a hot-pink jockstrap while Cambridge-born singer Charli XCX previously sold a sex paddle alongside a branded douche. For her latest album Brat, she sold a key on a necklace When asked about the X-rated merch, that coincided with the release of her fourth single Fantasy, Jade told Vogue: 'I'm collaborating with a friend of mine, Samuel Douek, on a kind of Fantasy bundle package with some of his products and some of mine. It's fun getting to do stuff like that.' Douek is a filmmaker as well as the owner of CBD-based lubricant brand Howl - a product which features in Jade's collection. The former Little Mix star was performing at Mighty Hoopla in London (pictured) when she sang one of her songs FUFN (F*** You For Now) - using it to take aim at the Harry Potter author She continued: 'Obviously, in Little Mix, there was kind of a ceiling on how far we could push things with our demographic and fan base. 'So I'm excited for my own stuff to have that same element of fun and empowerment, but in my own way as a 31-year-old woman.' As well as the X-rated bundle, fans can buy a series of coloured bandanas - which are typically used as a visual shorthand for the LGBTQ+ community to discreetly signal sexual preference. Earlier this month the former Little Mix star was performing at Mighty Hoopla in London when she sang one of her new songs FUFN (F*** You For Now) - using it to take aim at the Harry Potter author. 'Transphobes,' JADE shouted, as the crowd replied: 'F*** you'. She then turned attention to the writer, yelling ' JK Rowlin g' to which the crowd chanted again: 'F*** you'. A festival-goer shared the clip online with the caption: 'Jade, the legend you are!!!' JK has denied being transphobic, but she previously said she would 'happily' go to jail for misgendering a trans person rather than referring to them by their preferred pronouns. She is also using the new Harry Potter series to fund organisations dedicated to removing trans rights, with her 'Women's Fund' website saying it will offer financial support to those fighting trans inclusion 'in the workplace, in public life, and in protected female spaces'. The author made her first controversial comments about trans people six years ago, and has long claimed their inclusion in spaces such as bathrooms is a threat to women.

Jesy Nelson 'never felt more lucky' as she shares sweet snaps of twin daughters
Former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson welcomed her twins on 18 May but only got to take them home last week after they spent some time in the NICU Jesy Nelson admits she's 'never felt more lucky in her life' as she shared snaps of her newborn babies with fans on social media. The former Little Mix singer, who struggled with a difficult pregnancy, revealed last week that her baby twins arrived back at her home for the first time after she welcomed them on 18 May. In a sweet update shared on Instagram, Jesy shared a carousel of snaps and videos of her daughters, Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster, with whom she shares a partner, Zion Foster. She posted pictures of them looking cosy, wrapped up in towels, as well as a video of Zion dancing with one of their babies. Jesy also shared numerous snaps of her babies lying on her chest and a snap of them enjoying a sunny day while sleeping in a pram. "Have never ever felt more lucky and blessed in my whole entire life," the singer captioned the wholesome post. Friends and fans rushed to the comment section to share their love for the couple and their newborn babies, with influencer Luke Hamnett writing: "Gorgeous gorgeous family." "You deserve every moment and enjoy every feeling beautiful momma," Safiyya Vorajee commented and one fan added: "You're a beauty human. You deserve such beautiful miracles." In May, Jesy delighted fans when she revealed her children had arrived "healthy and fighting strong" after arriving prematurely. She also recently shared her experience with the girls in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). She wrote in an online post: "Nothing or no one will ever be able to prepare you as a parent for NICU. "It's the most scary overwhelming feeling of emotions not being able to feel like you can protect your babies. Naturally as a mother you just want to hold them and comfort them when they cry but you can't because there are what feels like a million wires coming out of them. "Tubes and masks in the way with people poking and prodding them, it breaks your heart into a million pieces. "But slowly as the days go by and they get stronger and wires start to come away, moments like this feel like a dream." The Black Magic singer shared her happiness over the fact her children were reunited together following treatment. She explained: "Having them reunited for the first time ever today was the most magical feeling I will never be able to describe. The strongest little girls I've ever known who really do have the most inspiring story to tell."
