
Odisha government issues SOP for PMAY 2.0 houses

: To streamline house allotment under
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
(
PMAY
) 2.0, the housing and urban development department here has issued a comprehensive standard operating procedure (SOP).
The SOP, specifically issued for house allotment in Bhubaneswar, covers critical areas such as eligibility criteria of beneficiaries, the mode of allotment of houses, and the handing over process of the houses, among others.

for Urban Areas, 2022' and subsequent amendment in 2025 to create a comprehensive and holistic policy framework to address all aspects of housing for the urban poor," reads the notification issued by the urban development department.
To be eligible to get a house as per the SOP, the beneficiary should belong to the concerned slum as of a cut-off date decided by
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation
(BMC) for the allotment of dwelling units for project-affected families.
Further, a dwelling unit should be allotted only to such a beneficiary who does not own a pucca house in his or her name, while the income of the family should not exceed Rs 3 lakh per annum to be eligible to get a house under
PMAY 2.0
.
The SOP defines the family, which should comprise a husband, wife, and unmarried children. It states that the beneficiary or any of his or her family members should not be an employee in the central or state govt.
For the selection of beneficiaries, the SOP provides a step-by-step guide. First, the BMC should prepare the base household list from available slum data, following which joint enumeration teams should be constituted for field verification of households staying in slums.
In the third step, the teams will number the houses, take photographs of the beneficiaries, note the personal data, and submit the same to the zonal deputy commissioner. Then the commissioner will validate the data, invite suggestions and objections, and issue the final list.
Following the finalisation of the beneficiary, the BMC will issue a demand letter for the beneficiary to pay his or her share of Rs 1.50 lakh, following which the provisional allotment letter will be issued to the beneficiary.
As per the SOP, the BMC will also help the beneficiary avail of bank loans. It could enter into a tripartite agreement for disbursement and transfer of money directly to the bank account of the beneficiary and then make the final verification of the payment.
The SOP also covers the preferential allotment of houses to beneficiaries on the ground floor. As per the SOP, only persons with loco-motor disabilities will be preferred to get houses on the ground floor of the housing project.

For this, the kin of the victim will have to file a claim with the Railway Claims Tribunal, and the compensation may take many years to be fruitful, if at all. On an average, the passengers in an international flights are wealthier than an average commuter in a Mumbai local. The disparity in compensation between the two sets of victims is glaring. All lives are equal, but some lives are more equal in our society. Life is so cheap in India. The victory celebration of the IPL champions claimed many lives in Bengaluru a few weeks ago. Many died in a stampede in Kumbh Mela; we don't even know how many actually died there. Govt to restore old, historical temples
Hyderabad: The Endowments Department is contemplating to find out old and historical temples in dilapidated state in Telangana and develop them with the public participation besides providing funds. Soon a committee of officers will be formed to identify and list out the temples. According to sources, the government aims to bring back the past glory of the old and historical temples and open it for the devotees. A senior official said that soon the government will be appointing a committee of officials from Endowments, Revenue and Municipal Administration departments. The committee is likely to be headed by the Endowments Principal Secretary Shailaja Ramaiyyar, said the official. The committee will find and list out the old and historical temples in dilapidated condition and submit it to the government for further action. The official said that the committee would suggest how far the government can support the renovation. Giving an example, the official said that if the temple is in a remote area in some district, the government will ensure a road is laid through the Panchayat Raj department. Similarly, if the structure of the temple is not in proper state, the government would take up renovation with the help of Roads and Buildings Department. The official further said that the government would also take up support from the corporate companies to take up restoration of the old temples. The temple's history, traditions and others would be narrated to devotees, which also helps in increasing the tourist inflows, the official said. The official said that idea came up with the recent development in which villagers came together and collected over Rs 3 crore to restore a 11th century temple lying in neglect for several years. The temple is located in Atmakur in Warangal district and it is the 'Panchakuta Shivalayam'. The locals said that the temple is known for couples desiring a child visit here and their wish is granted. There was some effort in restoration of temples in the past as the government formed a committee of Heritage and Archaeology departments to examine all the 'protected Endowment temples' with a view to chalk out suitable restoration and conservation plans. The Director of Endowments department had also written a letter to the government stating that there were a number of temples that are archaeologically and historically important and some of them are in a dilapidated condition, which require immediate renovation and reconstruction. The official said that there were many philanthropists who wish to support their part in restoration of the temples and if the government comes forward with a list many such temples can be restored, the official said.

Minister Santosh Lad assures action after children drown in lake

As a precautionary measure for the safety of people, officials have been instructed to construct retaining walls for these lakes. Speaking to reporters after offering condolences to the family whose children drowned in a lake recently at Yarinarayanapura village in Kundagol taluk on Saturday, Lad said that during the rainy season, lakes in rural areas fill up. The public and officials should take action in advance to prevent children from roaming around water bodies. Steps are being taken to build barriers for lakes in the district. A retaining wall will be constructed for the lake in Yarinarayanapura village, he informed. Sharifasab Chandukhan's sons, Muzammil and Mushir, from Yarinarayanapur village under Gudenakatti GP, died after drowning in a lake on June 19.
