Defence exports to go up after Op Sindoor, says Secretary Defence R&D

India Gazette29-05-2025

New Delhi [India], May 29 (ANI): Export of indigenous defence equipment will witness an uptick following Operation Sindoor as it is 'war-tested' now, Chairperson of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Samir V Kamat said on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Annual Business Summit-2025 in the national capital, Kamat said that weapons used during the 'Operation Sindoor' have built confidence among importing countries.
'I am hopeful that exports will increase after Operation Sindoor because now these (equipments) have been war-tested,' said Kamat, the Secretary Defence R&D and DRDO chairman.
The Defence R&D chairman said that following the four-day military conflict with Pakistan earlier this month India's defence sector is attracting a lot of attention.
'After Operation Sindoor, I sincerely hope that exports will increase because they have just been tested. Equipment and other countries will show a lot of interest in buying them right now,' said Kamat.
He said that India is already exporting defence equipment to over hundred countries and there are possibility that this number will go up after this operation.
'Already we are exporting to hundred countries, then I sincerely hope that this equipment will go to the hundred Countries and some other countries who are not buying us right now will also be interested in buying our equipment right now,' he told reporters.
Kamat further added that the recently approved execution model of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme will open up the participation of private sector for fighter aircraft development.
The defence ministry had on May 27 approved the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) Programme Execution Model, a key step to boost India's indigenous defence capabilities and strengthen the domestic aerospace industry.
The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) is set to execute the programme through industry partnership.
The Execution Model approach provides equal competitive opportunities to the private and public sectors. They can bid either independently, as joint ventures, or as consortia.
The entity/bidder should be an Indian company compliant with the laws and regulations of the country, the statement said.
'In this execution model, the HAL can bid. Private sector can bid. They can also bid as a joint venture. So this will open a participation of private sector four fighter aircraft,' Kamat added.
Kamat said that the development should be completed by 2034, and then the production will start by 2035. He said the first prototype flight will be ready by the end of 2029.
Earlier in his address at the CII plenary event, Rajnath Singh said that that under the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project, the Government, with industry participation plans to develop five prototypes of the 5th generation fighter aircraft, which will later lead to series production.
Addressing the Annual Summit of the CII in the national capital, Singh said the decision should be considered a milestone in the history of the 'Make in India' programme.
The project, he said, will promote self-reliance (Atmanirbharta) in the defence field.
Through the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft programme Execution Model, the private sector will get an opportunity to participate in a mega defence project along with public sector companies for the first time. (ANI)

Visakhapatnam: With a participation of 3.02 lakh, Visakhapatnam created history by gaining a place in Guinness World Records for the largest gathering for yoga in one place, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said. Appreciating ministers, district officials, public representatives and more importantly people of Visakhapatnam for their complete cooperation in making the 11th edition of the International Yoga Day a massive success, Naidu emphasised at a media conference that public cooperation is key to massive turnout. 'This is just the beginning of ambitious plans the NDA has in promoting public health and wellness to the next level,' the CM emphasised. With technology playing a crucial role in making the event a hassle-free affair, Naidu reiterated that the record participation could become a reality due to the incorporation of technology, including the introduction of QR code-based participant tracking system. With two Guinness World Records, including 22,122 tribal students performing Surya namaskarams on the eve of the International Yoga Day and for the largest gathering for yoga in one place on the IYD, the massive event gained entry into 21 World Book of Records. Sharing the statistics, Naidu stated that even as the cabinet ministers raised doubts when he called for a record breaking IYD celebrations, eventually, they reposed faith in his aspirations, extending support to the biggest endeavour organised ever in Visakhapatnam. 'Within a short span of time, Yogandhra-2025 garnered extensive support from across the people of Andhra Pradesh as they place trust in my leadership and are aware of the benefits yoga offers,' the Chief Minister stressed, adding that people volunteered happily for the event without any force. Recalling how people of Visakhapatnam refrained from bursting crackers when the CM called out for Diwali celebrations sans firecrackers when Hudhud cyclone left a trail of devastation in 2014, Naidu underlined, 'It is with the same spirit, Vizagites volunteered to make the IYD event a massive success.' About Prime Minister specially appreciating IT and Industries Minister Nara Lokesh's efforts in making yoga a true social celebration, including every section of society, Naidu stated that Lokesh succeeded in planning out 26 theme-based yoga events in a short span of time and his efforts caught the attention of the Prime Minister.

Two Guinness Book of World records and 21 World Records were registered by the State government. 'This was done with the use of technology and proper planning. It was a massive success and the credit goes to the cabinet sub-committee that was formed to oversee the arrangements and the officials,' he said. Mr. Naidu said a staggering 3,02,087 people have participated in the event on Saturday and the participation was voluntary. Records set Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said more money has to be spent to set Guinness World Records. Donald Trump's Self-Endorsed Nobel Peace Prize Nomination Sparks India-Pakistan Diplomatic Storm US President Donald Trump has once again demanded the Nobel Peace Prize, claiming he deserves not just one — but four to five of them. Speaking to reporters, Trump said his role in resolving the India-Pakistan conflict, as well as efforts in places like Rwanda, Congo, Serbia, and Kosovo, should have earned him the honour multiple times. His remarks came after Pakistan nominated Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, claiming his "decisive diplomatic intervention" helped secure a ceasefire between India and Pakistan following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack and India's bold response under Operation Sindoor. According to a report by Dawn, the Pakistani government credited Trump's leadership as "pivotal" in de-escalating the situation, even labelling him a "genuine peacemaker." However, the Indian government has categorically denied any US involvement in the ceasefire. India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri clarified that there were no trade talks or mediation discussions with the US during the crisis. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly made it clear to Trump that any resolution was strictly bilateral and had nothing to do with any external actor.#donaldtrump #nobelprize #nobelpeaceprize #pakistan #trumpnobelprize #operationsindoor #indiapakistanconflict #modireacts #pakistanpolitics #trumpnews #usforeignpolicy #indiaresponds #nobelnomination #geopolitics #toi #toibharat #bharat #breakingnews #indianews 1.1K views | 3 hours ago
