Big Ten Tournament details released for Michigan State baseball, others
Michigan State baseball punched their ticket to Omaha, sneaking their way into the Big Ten Tournament as the No. 12 seed. With festivities beginning on Tuesday, the Big Ten has released schedule details for the upcoming tournament.
In baseball, the Big Ten tournament starts as a round robin, where teams are split into four pods of three - playing the other two teams in the pods. The team with the best record at the conclusion of the two games will move on to a single elimination semifinal matchup. If all three teams end in a 1-1 tie, the highest seed gets the spot in the semifinal as the tiebreaker.
Michigan State, as the No. 12 seed, was paired with the No. 1 seed and No. 8 seed. Those two teams ended up being Oregon, who was a co-champ in the Big Ten's regular season, and Nebraska.
MSU's first game will be on Tuesday, May 20, at approx. 6 p.m. against Nebraska. Their second game will be played on Thursday, May 22, also at approx. 6 p.m. against Oregon.

Podcast predicts MSU's Aidan Chiles to be top 20 QB nationally this season

One well-known college football podcast is expecting big things from Michigan State's signal caller this upcoming season. The official X account for the College Football with Sam podcast recently posted that they anticipate a big season for Spartans quarterback Aidan Chiles. The account made the strong statement that Chiles will be a "top 20 quarter back in college football" this upcoming season. The post from College Football with Sam noted "having a much healthier and deep offensive line" paired with a "lethal" receiving unit will play a big role in Chiles' growth this year. Chiles -- who is entering his second season as the Spartans' starter -- will look for more consistency from last year. Chiles finished the season with 2,415 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions with a completion percentage of 59.4%. His 11 interceptions led the Big Ten last year, but eight of those came in the first six games compared to only three in the second half of the year. Michigan State opens the 2025 season on August 29 against Western Michigan. The game is set to kickoff at 7 p.m. ET from Spartan Stadium and will be televised on FS1. Husker head coach Matt Rhule impressed with offseason growth of quarterback Dylan Raiola

Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule was a guest on the Always College Football podcast earlier this week and talked about the development of quarterback Dylan Raiola. Raiola had a strong freshman season. He recorded 2,813 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions last season. He finished the season by leading the Huskers to a bowl game victory against Boston College in December. Now, the quarterback enters his sophomore season looking to continue that high level of play. 'To me, it's not about his highs being higher, it's about his loads not being so low. It's the same for our whole team. And so what I loved about Dylan is the consistency that he's got. He's the same guy every day. He's holding people accountable, starting with himself. His body looks great. And he and Dana Holgerson, I think, are going to make a dynamic duo. I think they have a chance to be really special on offense. ' Consistency from Raiola is going to be crucial as the Huskers look to make another leap in 2025. The quarterback has shown that he can be an explosive playmaker and leader under center. Now, it's going to be about putting it all together for an entire season. The offensive side of the football has been upgraded from last season, and it should lead to more success. Time will tell with results on the field, but Raiola has a chance to be successful in 2025. Nebraska will open the 2025 college football season on Thursday, August 28, when the Huskers face the Cincinnati Bearcats at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
