The urban lifestyle property developer said both properties are located side-by-side and adjacent to Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and the upcoming Hospital UMS, with both acquisitions expected to be completed within nine months. 'The strategic location of these assets - offering strong connectivity to both UMS and the future hospital - makes the area a highly desirable locality in Kota Kinabalu,' it said in a statement. The first proposed acquisition for RM99 million involves the purchase of a parcel of land with foundation works fully completed, and two blocks of 19-storey purpose-built student accommodation buildings comprising 513 apartment-style units that can accommodate 3,078 students. The second proposed acquisition, for RM6 million, involves a parcel of land with an existing building structure intended for the Bangunan Koperasi UMS project. The original development plan would have seen the construction of a 14-storey apartment building with 476 apartment units, a one-storey shop lot with 38 units, and a three-storey car park podium.

Following the acquisition, the group intends to resume the project to develop new residential properties,' it said. Titijaya Group managing director, Datuk Lim Poh Yit, said the acquisition aligns with the group's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and sustainability approach to real estate development. 'This move also aligns with our broader growth strategy to diversify our revenue streams and customer base, and extend our footprint beyond the Klang Valley. (Bernama pic) KOTA BHARU: The government is exploring new markets for palm oil to reduce the nation's reliance on major exporting markets affected by geopolitical conflicts. Plantation and commodities minister Johari Ghani said the ongoing Israel-Iran crisis and the Russia-Ukraine conflict have disrupted export shipments to certain zones. 'Malaysia currently exports goods worth RM186 billion annually to global markets, including palm oil, but part of these markets are now considered high-risk due to armed conflicts. 'As such, we are exploring new markets, namely, countries that have yet to purchase Malaysian palm oil or cooking oil. This is crucial to ensure that our export levels remain stable,' he said after a programme at the Mara polytechnic college here today. Johari said Malaysia is currently trading with nearly 80 nations, with plans to expand its reach even further. He urged plantation operators and smallholders to work closely with the government to ensure the resilience of the national commodities sector on the global stage. He said it is his aspiration to see the state governed with integrity, accountability and wisdom, supported by sustainable development plans that prioritise the people's well-being. 'I believe with strong leadership and the support of the people, Sabah will continue to grow and prosper,' he said in a special address in conjunction with his 74th official birthday here today. He delivered the address at the 2025 Sabah Investiture Ceremony at Istana Seri Kinabalu, where 60 individuals received state awards, medals and honours. Also present were Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and other state leaders. Tun Musa emphasised the need to strengthen development efforts to ensure sustainable and inclusive progress, through close cooperation between the government and the people. A total of 37 individuals received the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK), which confers the title 'Datuk'. Among the recipients were Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Dr Fuziah Salleh and Kapayan assemblyman Jannie Lasimbang. Other PGDK recipients included Senator Anna Bell@Suzieana Perian, Sabah Parks director Dr Maklarin Lakim, Amanah Sabah chairman Lahirul Latigu, Kota Kinabalu High Court Judge Alexander Siew How Wai, Sabah Special Branch chief SAC Abdul Rahman Ishak, State Health director Dr Maria Suleiman, and veteran journalist Emin Madi of Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Sabah Bureau. The first session of the investiture ceremony also saw five individuals receiving the Ahli Setia Darjah Kinabalu (ASDK), four each receiving the Ahli Darjah Kinabalu (ADK) and Bintang Setia Kinabalu (BSK), and six receiving the Justice of the Peace (JP) title.
