Muslim, Christian cemetery lands reclaimed in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Thursday cleared encroachments from Muslim and Christian cemetery lands in Parvathapur, under Peerzadiguda municipal corporation limits in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
The action followed complaints raised in the Prajavani programme by members of the cemetery protection committee, alleging that the decades-old government cemetery was being encroached upon, converted into plots and sold.
HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath reviewed satellite images, revenue records and conducted a field inspection before ordering the demolition of the foundations of 15 residential plots, two-metre-high fences, sheds and a few shops.
Officials said the encroachments took place during the Covid-19 lockdown. Locals alleged that one Sukhender Reddy led the encroachment by using fake survey numbers and securing unauthorised permissions. He allegedly covered existing graves with soil to conceal them and sold the plots, despite the land being under dispute. His private land is in Survey No. 12, while the cemetery stands on adjacent government land in Survey No. 1.
They added that Sukhender is accused of colluding with former Peerzadiguda mayor Jakka Venkat Reddy and former co-option member Jagadishwar Reddy.

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat high court directed the state authorities to "redress" the problem faced by a Muslim trader in conducting business from his legally owned shop in a Hindu-majority locality in Vadodara city. In Feb 2023, the HC rejected their petition and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on each of the two litigants by terming such an objection as a "disturbing factor" because the owner "is being hounded and thwarting his attempt to enjoy the fruits of the property which he successfully purchased". An appeal against this order was dismissed as well. However, the locals still did not allow Dholkawala to use the shop. They allegedly dumped debris at the shop's gate so that it could not be opened. He approached the HC once again seeking police protection so that he could get the shop's building repaired and conduct business from the premises. He complained that he had approached Panigate police multiple times requesting protection but allegedly received no support After hearing his case, Justice H D Suthar stated, "In view of the facts of the case and looking to the grievance of the petitioner at Annexure-A, the respondent authority concerned is hereby directed to redress the grievance of the petitioner in accordance with law as it is the duty of the state to maintain the law and order. Bangladeshi arrested with dual identity cards, triggers BJP vs Trinamool spat
A Bangladeshi national was arrested at an immigration point in West Bengal while attempting to enter the country using an Indian identity card. The arrested person, Salim Sheikh (31) from Murshidabad, was found to have dual sources said a Bangladeshi identity card was seized from his possession during checks at the Mahdipur Immigration Point in Malda. The card showed his name to be Mohammad Dilwar (30) from investigation revealed that he was using an Indian identity card to pose as a local resident. The police also recovered an Aadhaar card, voter card, passport, visa, and some Indian currency from his possession. The English Bazaar police took Sheikh into custody and produced him before the Malda District Court. Kovai car blast: Jamaath says NIA framing Muslims
COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore District Federation of All Jamaaths, Islamic organisations and political parties has condemned the recent arrests of two Muslim youths in connection with the 2022 Coimbatore car blast case, which is currently being probed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The federation alleged that the NIA has been framing false charges against innocent Muslim youths. In the car blast case, the NIA arrested four suspects, including two from Coimbatore, on Wednesday. These arrests were made in relation to recruitment efforts for the banned terrorist organisation, Islamic State (IS), bringing the total number of arrests in the case across the state to eight. The suspects arrested are believed to have been radicalised by Jameel Basha, the founder of Madras Arabic College, who, along with his associates, is accused of recruiting youth and subtly promoting Salafi-Jihadi ideology under the guise of teaching Arabic in the state. The arrests followed an investigation into the car explosion that occurred on October 23, 2022, near Sangameswarar Temple at Kottaimedu in Coimbatore city. Jameesha Mubin, who died in the blast, has been identified as an IS sympathiser by the NIA. The federation called for an urgent meeting on Thursday wherein it passed a resolution condemning the NIA for what they claim are false cases against innocent Muslim youths and unjust arrests related to the alleged IS radicalisation case. M S Sabeer Ali, a coordinator of the federation, told TNIE that one of the two people arrested in Coimbatore on Wednesday was innocent and was actually maintaining an Arabic college (Madrasa). 'He was previously investigated by the NIA as a witness and was pressurised to be a witness in favor of the agency. When he refused, he was framed in the case and arrested. The NIA is framing charges against innocent Madrasa students to prevent the bail proceedings of earlier suspects arrested in this case which is condemnable,' he said. The federation in the meeting also decided to provide legal support to those who were allegedly wrongfully arrested and to clarify the truth surrounding these arrests to the public.
