'Kuberaa' box-office report: Dhanush's 2nd Telugu film struggles at box-office despite stellar reviews
Brimming with expectations and supported by a star-studded cast including
Dhanush
, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna,
Kuberaa
was hailed as one of the most anticipated cinematic releases of the year. Audiences and critics alike offered a warm reception to the film, praising its storytelling and particularly applauding Dhanush's performance in an unconventional role as a destitute man. Yet, despite its critical appreciation, the movie's commercial performance did not reflect that enthusiasm at the
box office
.
Opening Collections Fall Short of Expectations
According to data reported by Sacnilk, a popular platform known for tracking movie earnings, Kuberaa generated close to Rs 13 crore in revenue over its first two days in theatres. Specifically, the film raked in ₹12.98 crore on its debut day. While not a disastrous opening, the numbers were slightly below par when compared to Dhanush's previous theatrical venture, Raayan, which had achieved a more robust ₹15.7 crore on day one. This comparison has sparked discussions among trade analysts, given that Kuberaa had the advantage of a strong cast and simultaneous Telugu-Tamil release.
About the Film: A Crime Saga Rooted in South India
Kuberaa is a
2025 Indian crime thriller
helmed by acclaimed director Sekhar Kammula. The screenplay was crafted by Kammula in collaboration with Chaithanya Pingali. Jointly backed by production houses Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations, the movie was simultaneously shot in both Telugu and Tamil, aiming to cater to a wider audience across South India.

The ensemble cast features some of the most prominent names in Indian cinema. Dhanush takes on the role of Deva, a simple-minded and impoverished man from the temple town of Tirupati. His life takes a dramatic turn when he gets entangled in a dangerous web of deceit and power. He must outsmart Deepak Tej, a former Central Bureau of Investigation officer whose moral compass has long been shattered. The supporting cast includes Nagarjuna in a pivotal role, Rashmika Mandanna, Jim Sarbh, and veteran actor Dalip Tahil.
Critical Acclaim but Lukewarm Box Office Momentum
Although Kuberaa has been appreciated for its performances, layered narrative, and grounded realism, its initial earnings suggest that the movie might face an uphill climb to become a commercial success. With word-of-mouth and weekend numbers being critical in determining a film's trajectory, all eyes are now on how the crime drama performs in the coming days. Whether the film manages to pick up pace or fizzles out remains to be seen.

Revisit Gangs of Wasseypur with these 7 Nawazuddin Siddiqui dialogues
It's been 13 years since Gangs of Wasseypur stormed Indian cinema with its gritty realism, unforgettable characters, and razor-sharp dialogues. At the heart of the saga was Nawazuddin Siddiqui's legendary performance as Faizal Khan, a reluctant heir who transforms into a feared gangster. His quiet intensity and perfectly timed delivery gave us some of the most iconic lines in Indian film history. Here's a look at 7 of his most memorable dialogues: 1. 'Baap ka badla lene ke liye, Faizal Khan ban gaya main.' – A declaration of transformation. This line marked the beginning of Faizal's journey from stoner to don. 2. 'Pehle cigarette peeta tha, ab ganja bhi peene laga hoon… Sardar Khan ka beta hoon.' – A darkly comic reminder of his legacy and inner turmoil, delivered with signature deadpan charm. 3. 'Tum log sirf maarte ho, hum log kehte hain aur maarte hain.' – A chilling flex of power and style, setting Faizal apart from his enemies. 4. 'Tum logon ko kya lagta hai, Sardar Khan ka beta kuch nahi karega?' – The underdog's roar. This line signaled that Faizal was no longer in anyone's shadow. 5. 'Duniya ko sabak sikhana hai… ke Faizal Khan zinda hai.' – Vengeance with swagger. A mic-drop moment that lingers long after the credits roll. 6. 'Zyada bolne wale mar jaate hain, chup rehne wale badla lete hain.' – A line that perfectly captures the philosophy of survival in Wasseypur. 7. 'Ghar mein sab mujhe nalayak samajhte hain… lekin asli game abhi shuru hoga.' – From overlooked to unstoppable — Faizal Khan's legacy, summed up. Nawazuddin Siddiqui didn't just play Faizal Khan. He became him and these lines are proof of that unforgettable transformation. Maha: SRK's office assures to submit relevant documents regarding renovation of actor's bungalow in Mumbai
Mumbai, June 22 (UNI) Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's office has assured the civic and the Maharashtra government officials that they will submit all relevant documents regarding renovation of actor's 'Mannat' bungalow in Bandra suburb of Mumbai, sources said here on Sunday. Acting on a complaint, the officials had reportedly conducted an inspection of the bungalow to verify if any construction had been undertaken without necessary permissions. A senior official said, "Our team inspected the site after receiving a complaint. The staff at the bungalow informed us that they required permissions from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) and would submit them to the concerned authorities. So, we will wait for their reply and our report will be ready by next week." The officials of H West ward's Building and Factory department and the Building Proposal department were also part of the inspection team. It may be recalled that on June 20, the Mumbai's civic body BMC and Forest department officials had conducted an inspection of the bungalow following a complaint of alleged violation of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms. According to the media report, actor's manager, Pooja Dadlani, had refuted reports of complaints and asserted that all work is going on as per guidelines. The inspection was conducted to assess whether any renovation or expansion activity around the property had breached CRZ guidelines, which are intended to prevent unauthorised development in environmentally sensitive coastal areas. While the renovation at Mannat is underway, the actor, along with his family Gauri Khan, Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan and AbRam Khan, has moved to lavish duplex apartments in Pali Hill. Reportedly, he pays a monthly rent of Rs 24.15 lakh for both the apartments combined, amounting to an annual rent of Rs 2.90 crore. UNI AAA SS
