Jack Lowden vows to break barriers with ginger Mr Darcy role
The Slow Horses star spoke to Laura Kuenssberg with Martin Freeman on Sunday ahead of the opening of a West End play the pair are starring in.
The 34-year-old actor took time during the interview to discuss his new role in Netflix's upcoming six-part series based on the classic Jane Austen novel.
"I quite like the idea of being a ginger Darcy," he said.
"I think that is really breaking down barriers – one of the great last barriers to be broken down."

The actor, who is married to Irish actor Saoirse Ronan, discussed the other actors who have taken on the iconic role.
"I quite like the idea of me coming along and doing something else with it," he told Kuenssberg.
"Or just copying one of them because some of the guys who played it are amongst the best. Matthew Macfadyen, to me, is one of the best actors on the planet. So if I just try copy him – maybe that's alright?"

Freeman and Lowden will appear in David Ireland's The Fifth Step at the Soho Place Theatre, London, from May 12.

Warning issued for Outlander star Sam Heughan event
Sam Heughan's event on August 23 sold out within hours over the weekend, The Scotsman reports. The event, named Sam Heughan: On the Rocks, will involve the star giving a cocktail masterclass to promote the upcoming publication of his new book, The Cocktail Diaries: A Spirited Adventure. A statement from EIBF said: 'There's been huge demand for our Sam Heughan: On the Rocks event this morning, and we're sorry that not everyone has been able to get the tickets they were hoping for. Noel and Liam Gallagher's mum reveals her role as secret 'instigator' of reunion
Noel and Liam Gallagher's mother Peggy Gallagher 'instigated' their reconciliation when she told them to not Look Back in Anger and 'get on with it', she has revealed. Bickering brothers Liam, 52, and Noel, 58, hadn't spoken since Oasis' split following their big fall out in 2009, but announced their historic reunion last year ending fans' excruciating wait. The Mancunian stars are currently preparing for their reunion tour, largely thanks to their mum Peggy, she has revealed in a recent interview.
