Danny Rohl in Leeds United love letter amid Rangers takeover as he takes charm offensive directly to the 49ers
The Sheffield Wednesday boss has dropped several clues that he is seeking a new adventure away from Hillsborough
In-demand boss Danny Rohl has hyped up Leeds United with 49ers Enterprises set to take control of Rangers.
The investment wing of the San Francisco 49ers and pharmaceutical tycoon Andrew Cavenagh are set to take control at Ibrox.
One of the first targets for the incoming US consortium will be to name a new manager - with Rohl emerging as a wildcard for the hot seat.
The German has openly suggested that he is set to leave Sheffield Wednesday after the curtain was pulled down on the English Championship campaign.
In a whistle-stop tour of media in his homeland, the 36-year-old has talked about his ambition of managing in the Bundesliga, Premier League and Champions League.
Rohl - who began his coaching career at RB Leipzig - has reportedly emerged as a potential target for the new owners having worked with Red Bull.
The energy drink giants have close ties to the NFL giants with Red Bull holding a minority stake in the Championship winners.
And amid speculation of a link-up with the 49ers in Glasgow, he has heaped praise on their work a Elland Road and chances of succeeding in the top flight after promotion.
He told Kicker: 'If you also have teams, if you just take Brentford, that have developed dramatically. Even Brighton, who were able to invest 300 million.
"They were also in the Championship five or six years ago. But making that leap will be the challenge for all newly promoted teams.
"I'm excited about Leeds, who, in my opinion, have been the best team this season. They have an incredible fan base.
"They also have a great German coach, whom I really like. And I hope they can break the barrier.'

Alexander Isak's stance on Liverpool transfer revealed with huge new fee set
Liverpool have not made any approach to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United with the striker not expected to demand an exit this summer. The Premier League champions have moved swiftly and decisively in the summer transfer window, immediately bringing in a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold in Jeremie Frimpong with Milos Kerkez expected to arrive from Bournemouth. Florian Wirtz sealed his move to Anfield on Friday night in the biggest deal in Premier League history, arriving for a fee that could rise to £116million. Liverpool's spending might not end there. With Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez possibly leaving Merseyside, a centre forward to lead Arne Slot's attack could be sought. His side have been linked with a sensational move for Isak, whose current contract at St James' Park expires in 2028. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link we'll send you so we can get football news tailored to you. But despite growing speculation, the Daily Telegraph report Isak is settled on Tyneside and is not agitating for a move away this summer. There is no expectation that situation will change in the coming months with Newcastle under no pressure from profitability and sustainability rules to sell anyone as things currently stand. Arsenal are long-term admirers of the Sweden international but have given up hope of luring him to the Emirates after being quoted at least £150million last year. The report suggests Newcastle's valuation has only grown, claiming it would take a fee closer to £200m to prise him away – one close to the price Paris Saint-Germain paid to sign Neymar from Barcelona eight years ago. Liverpool have made no contact with Newcastle at this stage – not even an informal enquiry. Isak scored 23 Premier League goals and 27 in all competitions as Newcastle won the Carabao Cup secured Champions League qualification last season. More Trending With European football back on the menu, Newcastle legend Alan Shearer is convinced his side's leading man is going nowhere. 'Got to keep him and they will, I'm pretty certain of that,' Shearer said on The Rest is Football. 'Because of their success this year, because they've got Champions League football, all of those things. 'There's not a worry in my mind that he's going anywhere. He'll be a Newcastle player next season because he's a very, very, very good player.' Nicolas Kuhn watches dithering RB Leipzig go tame as transfer truth comes to boil over Celtic star
The former Germany youth international is in demand this summer RB Leipzig's pursuit of Celtic star Nicolas Kuhn is set to be turned down a notch - according to a report. Despite dropping off in the second half of last season, the German winger finished the campaign with an impressive 21 goals and 15 assists in 51 matches in all competitions. Last week, it was reported that the former Bayern Munich kid is a summer target for Bundesliga side Leipzig, who missed out on European football altogether next season with a disappointing seventh place finish in Germany's top tier. Kuhn has also been touted for a big money switch to Newcastle but Hoops hero and Record Sport columnist Chris Sutton has warned that the wide man is not ready for the step-up and needs another year until his belt at Parkhead first. However, a move from Leipzig for Kuhn - or any player for that matter - will reportedly be on hold until a decision on just who will be in the dugout at the Red Bull Arena next season is made. Die Roten Bullen have been without a permanent boss since March 30 when Marco Rose got the boot after a very underwhelming showing on home soil and in Europe. Former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain number two Zsolt Low was appointed as interim manager for the remainder of the campaign but is not expected to be in contention to land the job on a permanent basis. And while Ole Werner - who stepped down from Werder Bremen last month after leading them to a eight place finish in the Bundesliga - is the favourite to replace Low, German outlet Merkur state that getting the managerial situation sorted will take preference over improving the squad. Leipzig have already snapped up the signing of talented Dutch youngster OH Leuven ahead of the new season but that deal was completed back in April. The report also states that a potential swoop for Valencia's Spain U21 star Cristhian Mosquera has also cooled until a new man in the hot seat is in place. They claim that Mosquera has gone as far as giving Leizpig a verbal agreement that he wants to move to Germany but won't officially put pen to paper until he knows just who he will be playing under. Jobe Bellingham scores on his full Borussia Dortmund debut as Bundesliga side claim 4-3 win over Mamelodi Sundowns in Club World Cup
Jobe Bellingham scored his first goal for Borussia Dortmund during their Club World Cup clash with Mamelodi Sundowns. The 19-year-old followed in the footsteps of his older brother Jude by joining the Bundesliga giants in a £32million move from Sunderland earlier this month. He made his debut off the bench in the Club World Cup opener against Fluminense on Tuesday night, but was handed a starting role against Sundowns - and showed promising signs that he's ready to carve out his own path in black and yellow. With Dortmund 2-1 up against the South African champions, Bellingham extended their lead just before half-time, firing a half-volley into the bottom corner from inside the box. Lucas Ribeiro had burst through a static Dortmund defence, picking up the ball on the halfway line and gliding past two opponents to score a shock opener after 11 minutes. But the lead last only five minutes before a calamitous error from Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, who played a short pass to Nmecha who had an easy tap-in for the equaliser. Dortmund went ahead after a slick set of one-two passes between Julian Brandt and Guirassy who powered home with his head before Bellingham's strike. Rayners struck the woodwork for Sundowns 10 minutes into the second half but on the hour mark Daniel Svensson's cross from the left took a wicked deflection off Sundowns' fullback Khuliso Mudau as Dortmund extended their lead. Two minutes later, the South African side pulled one back as Teboho Mokoena's free kick was floated to Rayners, who struck the foot of the post but the rebound bounced back onto his head and he did not waste the second opportunity. Mothiba struck in the 90th minute as Sundowns stole away possession and the substitute scored from close range but they could not find an equaliser. Bellingham joined following two impressive seasons at Sunderland, who he helped earn promotion back to the Premier League last month. He played 43 matches in all competitions for the Black Cats last season and was named as the Championship Young Player of the Season.
