Videos show man in dumpster getting dumped into waste truck in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man in a dumpster has a brush with death when the solid waste truck comes and gets dumped into a truck — and it was all caught on camera. A good Samaritan who was in the right place at the right time alerted the driver and likely saved that man's life.

'I heard him and saw him and so I ran over and told the driver, 'hey, you have somebody in the back of your truck,'' said Jonny Ulibarri, the good Samaritan. 'So, he stopped and he went and looked and that guy that got dumped in there was banging on the sides of the door or the truck.'
The stunning video shows the City of Albuquerque Solid Waste Department's truck lifting the dumpster near Lomas Blvd. and San Mateo Blvd. The surveillance video shows the man moving around and yelling right before geing dumped in the trash.
Ulibarri stopped the driver, who then climbed up the ladder's truck to find the man. The man climbs down the ladder and seemingly goes on with his day. The city's Solid Waste Department said the driver caught up with the man the next day, who reassured him he was ok.
From the long drop into the truck to the active blade compacting the trash to possibly harmful materials in the trash itself, the Solid Waste Department is reminding people to stay away from dumpsters and active trucks. 'It's extremely dangerous to be in these bins, and we're happy this gentleman was ok, but we want to make sure it doesn't happen in the future,' said Alex Bukoski, Public Information Officer for the city's Solid Waste Department.
The department said this happens about twice a year, and usually more in the winter months.
'There are tons of great resources out there from ACS, to HHH, to our Gateway Network. If people are struggling with homelessness, we have resources for them. We don't want them in our dumpsters. We want to put them on a path so they can find housing stability, and we want to make sure they stay safe, too,' said Bukoski. 'Safety is our number one priority at Solid Waste; not only making sure your trash gets disposed of right, but that it's also done in a way that everybody stays safe.'

The footage obtained by The Post shows the final moments of the 38-year-old victim Victor Bautista's life after he was shot in the chest following a dispute with another man near Trinity Avenue and East 149th Street in Melrose around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday. 'Breathe! Breathe,' a good Samaritan frantically begs in the clip as Bautista lies on the street groaning. 'DaDa, squeeze my hand,' she says, clutching his limp hand. 'Yo, yo, stay with us, bro,' the Samaritan shouts as he continues to pump his chest. 7 The gunman attacks Bautista on the sidewalk. United Bodegas of America Moments later, police arrive and take over life-saving measures. Bautista was later pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital, police said. A second video, security footage from a bodega, shows the moment the victim was struck by the fatal bullet. Bautista can be seen getting into an animated argument with a man leaning against a wall outside of a business. Bautista, in shock, reaches for his chest. He staggers along the sidewalk, briefly goes off camera, and then collapses, his head bouncing off a van as he falls to the street. Bautista's killer remains at large. Fernando Mateo, a spokesman for the United Bodegas of America, said Bautista died just steps from D'mi Muñeca Grocery, a bodega on Trinity Avenue. His violent death, he said, is another reason to install panic buttons in bodegas across the city. 'The entire incident was captured by the store's surveillance cameras. You can see the argument. Mateo said that his organization will install a panic button at the store to provide the owners with 'peace of mind,' but he added that the NYPD needs to step up and provide more resources, like real-time access to bodega cameras. 'The NYPD should not be watching these videos after someone has already died,' he said. 'They should be seeing them live so they can respond before the next shot is fired.'

New video shows fight before teen was shot and killed in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – New video showed what happened the night a 15-year-old boy was killed at a southeast Albuquerque laundromat. It showed a senseless death after a fight over a washing machine. Newly obtained surveillance video from XXL Washers on San Mateo Blvd. and Zuni Rd. showed exactly what led up to 15-year-old Michael Rowe being shot and killed back in December. KRQE News 13 spoke to Rowe's sister days after the shooting, and she said what happened was a senseless act of violence. 'There's never anything that anybody can do that should cause you to take another person's life,' said Sarah Rowe in December 2024. Video that night showed Rowe and two girls sitting, waiting for their load to finish up. Moments later, a woman, Jamel Coriz, walks up to the trio. A criminal complaint said that's when an argument begins over the use of a washing machine. Coriz went to punch one of the girls, and for more than five minutes, the group continued to throw punches and kicks, back and forth. Eventually, Coriz walked outside and left, but it didn't end there. Six minutes later, Coriz returned with her boyfriend, Oscar Orozco. Orozco walked inside the laundromat and confronted Rowe, who was now alone, and chased him outside. Orozco chased Rowe around vehicles at the back of the parking lot before he fired a gun at Rowe's back. Video from outside the laundromat picked up Coriz yelling at Rowe for starting it, before Coriz and Orozco got back in the car and took off. Rowe was taken to the hospital but died shortly after. Woman held in custody on child abuse charge in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — A woman being charged in connection to the death of her four-month-old was in front of Judge Courtney Weaks for a detention hearing on Friday. Gabriella Muniz is also facing a possession charge. New Mexico MVD warns residents about ongoing wave of scams Muniz was arrested after she admitted to having powdered fentanyl on her in lock-up. The prosecution added that Muniz and her co-defendant Victor Gonzales, the child's father, refused to do a CYFD-ordered drug test after the baby was born with meth and fentanyl in their system. CYFD did not remove the baby from their custody. Based on the new arrest and Muniz's noncompliance with court orders, Judge Weaks ruled Muniz to remail locked up through trial.
