Sitaare Zameen Par Box Office Day 3: Aamir Khan's Film Collects Rs 57 Crore On 1st Weekend
Last Updated: RS Prasanna's Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh-starrer Sitaare Zameen Par had a successful first weekend, surpassing Rs 55 crore net in India. Aamir Khan is back, and how! His latest film Sitaare Zameen Par is shining bright at the box office. After just three days in theatres, the heartwarming sports comedy has raked in a solid Rs 57 crore net in India, according to Sacnilk. Directed by RS Prasanna and also starring Genelia Deshmukh, the film had a strong weekend run. Sitaare Zameen Par has been receiving a good response from the audience and critics alike for its emotional depth and powerful storytelling. As per trade reports, Sitaare Zameen Par earned Rs 26.45 crore on Sunday, pushing its total to Rs 57.35 crore net in India. The film, which had an average start at Rs 10.7 crore on Friday, saw an impressive jump of nearly 89 per cent on Saturday with Rs 20.2 crore coming in. Sunday continued the momentum, with the Hindi version recording a 41.76 per cent occupancy and numbers rising steadily through the day. For context, Sitaare Zameen Par is inching closer to surpassing the lifetime India collection of Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha, which had wrapped up at Rs 61.36 crore. The film has already outperformed Kesari Chapter 2 (Rs 29.5 crore) and Sunny Deol's Jaat (Rs 26.25 crore) in just its first weekend. However, it still trails behind the likes of Salman Khan's Sikandar, which raked in Rs 74.5 crore in its opening weekend, and Akshay Kumar's Sky Force, which clocked Rs 62.25 crore. Sitaare Zameen Par is considered a spiritual successor to Aamir Khan's 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par. The original film followed the moving story of Ishaan, a dyslexic child played by Darsheel Safary, and touched hearts across the nation with its sensitive portrayal of learning disabilities. It also featured Tisca Chopra and Vipin Sharma. On the other hand, Sitaare Zameen Par is a sports comedy drama film produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit. Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra and Simran Mangeshkar will make their Hindi cinema debut with the film. The film also boasts a strong supporting cast with seasoned performers like Dolly Ahluwalia, Gurpal Singh, Brijendra Kala, and Ankita Sehgal. The story centres on Gulshan, a former star basketball coach portrayed by Aamir Khan, who is ordered to coach a group of neurodivergent children as part of his community service following a DUI offence. What starts off as a begrudging assignment soon evolves into a life-changing experience for both him and the team. Genelia Deshmukh plays Sunita, Gulshan's supportive wife. N ews18 gave 3.5 rating to Sitaare Zameen Par. A part of our review read, 'Unlike Taare Zameen Par's Nikumbh, Gulshan isn't perfect. This is a flawed, man-child character, dealing with his own traumas, learning to navigate life with the help of those who suffer developmental delays. So far, on paper, Sitaare Zameen Par seems rather fantastic, novel, and heartfelt. And don't get us wrong — it definitely is all of that. But it also has its share of flaws that become a bump in its path to becoming a great film. To start with, at 2 hours 39 minutes, the film appears to be an extremely long and slow-moving affair." Aamir Khan's 'Sitaare Zameen Par' may go Tax-Free in Maharashtra After NGO's Appeal to Promote Inclusion
Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan 's most recent film, has been appreciated by both critics and viewers due to its compelling narrative and emotional depth. A well-known sports NGO, the Elite Games Federation, has now formally requested the Maharashtra government to allow the movie to be shown in the state without paying taxes. In an official letter to Devendra Fadnavis , the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, the NGO discussed the film's socially relevant themes. Sitaare Zameen Par, which was directed by RS Prasanna, is about a disgraced basketball coach who is assigned to train a group of neurodivergent people. "This Aamir Khan film is not just entertainment—it is a moving portrayal of the abilities, struggles, and dreams of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities," the federation wrote in an Instagram post. 'It aligns perfectly with our mission to promote inclusion in sports and society, especially for our para-athletes." They went on to say that it would be beneficial to declare the movie tax-free in Maharashtra. 'Making this film tax-free will allow it to reach more families, schools, and communities—spreading a vital message of empathy, accessibility, and acceptance.' The NGO continued, "We hope the government will support this effort to amplify inclusion and make a meaningful impact through cinema." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Install the Perfect Pool at Home – Start Here Backyard Pool | Search Ads Learn More Undo "We hope the government will support this effort to amplify inclusion and make a meaningful impact through cinema," they said in closing.
