‘Visit My Masjid' fosters communal harmony

Hyderabad: The SC, ST, BC, Muslim Front organised the 'Visit My Masjid' programme at Masjid-e-Aliya in Gunfoundry on Sunday, under the banner 'Dalit Muslim ek dastarkhan pe lunch' (Dalit and Muslim together for lunch). The event was marked by communal harmony, open dialogue, and a powerful message of unity. Attendees and guests from various walks of life shared a meal together at the conclusion of the programme, reflecting a spirit of brotherhood.
The speakers collectively emphasised the need for honesty, social harmony, and equality. They underscored that dishonesty at any level is detrimental and that everyone should contribute positively towards the betterment of society.
The programme resonated with the timeless message of equality and justice, as reflected in the poetic lines – 'Ek hi saf mein khade ho gaye Mahmood-o-Ayaz, Na koi banda raha, na koi banda nawaz' — meaning, 'The king Mahmood and slave Ayaz stood shoulder to shoulder in the same row. No master, no slave remained; only equals in the eyes of the Divine.'
The event was organised under the theme 'DNA Message Massavath', symbolising oneness, dignity, and togetherness beyond caste, class, and creed.
Sanullah Khan (Chairman, SC, ST, BC, Muslim Front), Aziz Pasha (Former MP), Prof Dr Gali Vinod Kumar, Senior Advocate Masood Khan, Advocates D Padma Rao, Raj Lingam, Master J E Dr Kumar (BAMCEF), Prof Anwar Khan, Prof Islamuddin Mujahid, among others, were present.

AAP wins Gujarat's Visavadar assembly bypoll, BJP big winner in Kadi

AAP's Gopal Italia won the Visavadar Assembly seat with flying colours, having polled 75,942 votes and defeating the BJP's Kirit Patel in a see-saw battle by 17,554 votes after all 21 rounds of counting were completed. Italia and Patel fought an interesting battle for over 15 rounds, before the AAP candidate took a decisive lead in the later stages and came out on top. Congress's Nitin Ranpariya was a distant third with just 5,501 votes. However, it was smooth sailing for BJP candidate Rajendra Chavda in Kadi, who maintained a clear lead throughout and won the seat as he bagged 99,742 votes and defeated his nearest rival Ramesh Chavda by 39,452 votes, who polled 60,290 votes. The voting for the Visavadar and the Kadi Assembly seats of Gujarat was held on June 19. While Visavadar reported a turnout of 56.89%, Kadi saw a relatively lower figure at 57.90%. In Kadi, the seat fell vacant after the death of BJP MLA Karsanbhai Solanki, following which the party fielded Rajendra Chavda, against Congress's Ramesh Chavda, and AAP's Jagdish Chavda. The contest was seen as an opportunity to guage the Dalit community's voting patterns in the region. 'It is an eye-opener for the Muslim world. It shows the OIC is a failed body and has nothing substantive to deliver. It faces systemic failures," said sources. 'They failed to defend Muslim interests during crises such as the Gaza genocide, Israeli attacks on Iran, and persecution of Uyghurs," they said. One of the OIC's major shortcomings is its lack of enforcement powers and a collective defence mechanism. The organisation operates on consensus, which is often divided and largely symbolic. Political rivalries, especially between Saudi Arabia and Iran, have obstructed unified action, particularly regarding groups like Hamas. Since 2023, the OIC has passed over 31 resolutions against Israel, yet these remain non-binding and ineffective, with no sanctions or meaningful outcomes. Many member states have deep ties with the U.S. and Europe, providing military bases, trade, and aid, which discourages confrontation with Israel. The normalisation of relations with Israel by countries like the UAE, Bahrain, and Türkiye further undermines Muslim solidarity. Notably, trade between these nations and Israel continued even during violent escalations. The OIC's silence on China's treatment of Uyghurs reflects its economic dependence on China. In fact, 28 OIC members have openly supported China's policies in Xinjiang. Trade between OIC countries remains low at 20.36%, limiting economic unity and reinforcing reliance on Western and Chinese partnerships. Sectarian divisions, particularly Sunni-Shia tensions, have also contributed to the OIC's inaction. Gulf states, for example, remained passive during Israeli strikes on Iran. Major failures of the OIC include its ineffectiveness during the Gaza genocide, where 48,500 lives were lost, its silence on the bombings of Iranian facilities, and its praise for China amid reports of Uyghur internment camps.
